Two pieces of legislation that cover health and safety of child care settings are:
Statutory Framework for the early Years Foundation Stage (2008), covering all aspects of children’s welfare (safeguarding, suitable people, suitable premises and equipment, organisation, documentation) and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 (which gives the overall responsibility for health and safety to the employer and duties to
When an individual is referred to as having a deficiency, it means that there is the absence of a particular nutrient in the body. This could be due to the lack of that nutrient being provided though the diet or could be due to a
D1) Make recommendations in relation to the identified hazards to minimise the risks to the service user.
Life expectancy in the human race has risen dramatically in the past century reaching its highest level for both male and female on record. Between 1981 and 2002 life expectancy at age 50 increases by four and a half years for men and three years for women and two years respectively. By 2002 women who were age of 65 could expect to live to the age of 84 while men could expect to live to the age of 81.
Health Promotion This is the process of allowing people to have more control over their health as this will help improve their health and well-being. It focuses on individual behaviour towards a wide range of social and interventions. Health promotion is how health is shown for example to challenge obesity change 4 life is used so people can have a guidance on how to make their lifestyle healthier. It also shows that health promotion is aimed at individuals whose health is at risk from any diseases from lifestyle factors, which lets individuals take control over their health. By being able to have control over their health it shows individuals what may have happened if nothing was done of it
In this report I will be describing different patterns of ill health and who and how they are monitored. I will also try to explain different factors that affect our health, not only now but I will try to discuss how different factors fight effect our health in the future, I will then evaluate the influence of the government have on factors that affect ill health.
P1 – Explain potential hazards and the harm that may arise from each in a health and social care setting.

Honesty is something I value in another person, and I have struggled with service users who haven’t been honest about something. I have tried hard to understand the reasons why someone would not be honest with me. Usually after I have spoken to another member of staff, and heard their input and theories I can begin to see why and move on from the incident.
Over the year both positive and negative influences have influenced my learning. The skill I have developed for learning is my aspiration is to become a midwife, this influences my learning in the way that it gives me the hunger to learn new things and improve my knowledge and grades. By improving my knowledge I will be able to go onto the next stage of my development. I believe that if I did not have such a desire to be a midwife, it would affect my learning by creating a mental blockage which would stop my ability to take things in and learn as I would become lazy and not interested from the lack of direction in my life. As soon as I realised what I wanted to do as a career, it really highlighted my priorities and I found that I have
Health policy reflects the decisions, plans, and actions that are implemented to achieve specific health care goals within a society and community. “An explicit health policy can achieve several things: it defines a vision for the future which in turn helps to establish targets and points of reference for the short and medium term” (Boufford, 1990). The purpose of healthcare policy and procedures is to ensure there is a standard of healthcare available. The purpose of healthcare policy and procedures is to communicate to employees the desired outcomes of the organization (Boufford, 1990). Policies are implemented to ensure the employees/ clients understand the standard procedure for the healthcare that is available. The three main points include 1) should states and government make decisions in
This is for individuals who are lacking the mental capacity and need somebody else to help them manage their legal, financial and health problems. The mental capacity act therefore made it legal so that those who are unable to make their own decisions have the ability to choose somebody who they feel they can trust to help manage their finances, properties and to help make their health and welfare decision. This is done through the power of attorney. This act links to individuals who suffer with dementia as within the late stages of dementia they will need to give someone the power of attorney due to the fact that they will not be able to manage their legal financial and health problems.
A social service that is needed in my community is a need for more shelters for homeless individuals. The community I reside in there seems to be a great number of individuals without a home that are living on the streets. There are many homeless individuals I see and when traveling in my community/neighborhood that does not have a safe place to rest their head at night. It is sad to see when out at night going home or having a night out with friends, there are individuals that have to rest their head in areas known and unknown to get a good nights rest. This population is putting their safety at risk during the night hours just to wake up to see the next day without any harm done unto them. This is an issue, because as human beings, we are
Thank you for presenting your research about conducting natural experiments in healthcare during Professor Flynn's course yesterday. You and I briefly spoke after the class session ended, however, I was hoping that we could find some time in the future to talk more in depth about using EHRs in this context.
I personally do service because it gives me a chance to give back to my community. I do not have a lot my money to donate to organizations but what I do have time. In some cases, I think giving your time to do a social service is more beneficial than donation money. Not only do the people you are helping with your service get the in person satisfaction but I feel as if I grow as a person from interacting with people who I am serving.
As a medical and health social worker, I would act in many of the roles that make becoming a physician fulfilling to me. The most important part of entering the health care field is to care for the health of others, especially those facing barriers to good care. As a social worker I would not be able to directly provide a diagnosis or treatment but I would play a necessary role in helping people access care, whether assisting through navigating the health care system, financial problems, or other barriers. Furthermore, I would still be able to work face to face with patients, provide emotional support and provide the education to help them make important medical decisions. I plan to play as many of these roles as possible as a physician, but
