Los Cenzontles is a band, a nonprofit organization, a music academy, a community space for youth and families as well as a hub for Latino artists. The group works together to amplify Mexican roots in the Bay Area and beyond. Los Cenzontles produces original music, videos, and educational tools. They also teach classes in traditional Mexican music, dance, and arts and crafts. The group operates Los Cenzontles Mexican Arts Center in San Pablo, California. Dr. Lopez and Dr. Morrison were able to bring this band to Sonoma State University Weill Hall, especially for our CALS 165 class.

At the Día De Los Muertos event there were many people especially Hispanic families. Across the event, there was a museum that had arts of people dressed at Aztecs, Día De Los Muertos skeletons, a big altar, and painted skulls. The museum was not big, but showed some historical moments of the Día De Los Muertos. They also showed the culture being alive. Inside the event there were also quite a lot of volunteers that seemed to be from the high school that was hosting the event. Furthermore, we managed to see ABC7 news at the event which surprised us. We saw them interview some people from the event. The volunteers on the other hand, were either helping people sell food, paint people’s face, or ask people if they want to donate some change. They

Cabeza had many struggles but that didn't stop him from reaching his goal. Cabeza de Vaca survived because he had excellent wilderness/ survival skills, he was a talented healer to the indians, and he respected for the Native Americans.

On November 10, 2009, a small meteor hit a bare patch of grass yards away from The Andes Chemical Lab. It was later encountered by one of the staff, and he brought it in to show to the supervisor. He was told to identify the substance and did the tests to figure it out. Unfortunately, or fortunately for some, it was unidentifiable. But before he could tell the supervisor, the rock started shaking. Seconds later, the power went out. As he realized that the rock was an egg, it became clear that the hatching of the egg had caused an EMP. The Los Banos Unified School District enrolls about 11000 students in Kindergarten through the 12th grade. The School District supports nine elementary schools, two junior highs, two high schools and one alternative high school. The School District is led by seven members of the Board or education. A maquiladora is a manufacturing plant based in Mexico where foreign companies import materials and equipment, on a duty free and tariff free basis, for the purposes of processing, manufacturing, or assembling goods which are then exported to other countries. The idea behind these maquiladoras promises a prosperous Mexican society. On paper, it really does seem like NAFTA is living up to expectations; creation of more jobs and a much less unemployment rate. On the surface, there seems to be nothing wrong with what’s going on in Mexico in terms of employment. Everyone has jobs and everyone is getting paid for these jobs, so what’s the issue? Marisol Ortega was born on April 1,1994 and grew up in a family of eight and is the youngest of six siblings. She grew up and raised in the city of Bell and comes from a traditional Mexican household. Marisol is on her third year at East Los Angeles College and she is studying psychology with an emphasis in social behavior. She recently got accepted to the University of California, Santa Cruz and was awarded the Osher scholarship. Her future goal is to obtain a degree in psychology and a master’s degree in criminology with a minor in ethnic studies. She hopes to obtain a career as a forensic psychologist and as a educator.

Bartolome de Las Casas can be described as a friend and civil rights activist of the Native American people during the early 1500s. After Hernan Cortes conquered the new world; he exploited the generosity and riches of the Native America Population. This exploitation allowed Spain to gain major financial gain at the cost of Native America sufferings. This suffering would be due to a cruel system known as the encomienda’s system. In addition, many Native Americas died due to the atrocities of this systems.
