Turn 6 was a big turn for us. We had many thing had been going in our country. We were attacked by the Empire and country 6 for no reason. When we asked them for their reason they said you did not cooperate with us. As realists, they decided to invade us in order to gain power and resources. Although, we did not attack back or used our military to defend ourselves. Instead, we communicated with them. We had negotiations and treaties with Country 6. We talked together and came up with a solution that will benefit both countries. The solution is we help each other no matter what happen and deal with all issues that both countries might face in the future. As liberals we want peace and cooperation and that’s what we did with country 6. Country
Many states view collecting use tax on smaller purchases as burdensome, therefore states have customarily attempted to collect a use tax only on big-ticket items that require licenses—such as cars and boats. Many states over the last several years are increasing enforcement efforts of the use tax laws to get the state population to pay the taxes due in an attempt to combat internet ordering. The realities of limited resources as well as the complexities involved with tracking down minor purchases and demanding that a use tax be paid are limiting the collection efforts.
America’s gift to my generation is like an infinite book. There’s a beginning where everything started and there is no ending because there is always something new to write in the book. And for every new chapter there is a new beginning and a new gift.
What is the American dream? The traditional American dream is one in which someone can start from nothing and build themselves up into a great success, with all the material trappings that go with that success. So, if the American dream is self-built success, then what defines success? In the American dream, success is largely defined by the possession of certain material goods and money. You are considered a success in America if you have enough money to be comfortable financially (i.e., paying all of your bills and having plenty left over for entertainment and material goods), and if you have possession of a nice house in the suburbs, a nice car or two, a pretty and well-dressed family, and the respect and even awe of your community. That is the American dream and the success that defines it.
My great grandfather served in World War Two… fighting for Italy. He later immigrated to America coming from Italy so he could follow his heart and marry my great grandmother, as he did not have the rights to do so in Italy. It was very hard for them to leave all of their friends and family but with each other to lean on they came to America where we stand as one with our rights and got married.
The purpose of this paragraph is to inform you about how Saint Thomas More became the school it is today. On August 30th, 1957, Bishop Bernard J. Topel named Fr. Paul A. Wenning the very first pastor at a new parish in Spokane. That parish was Saint Thomas More. All of STM’s first masses were held at Lynnwood Elementary School, because there was no church yet. There was a three phase plan in the making - to build a church, a rectory, and a four classroom grade school - with the groundbreaking in March 1958. Four years later, in March of 1962, when the rectory was finished, construction on the school began and was ready for students by September. In the beginning, STM only had grades 5-8, with a combined 7th and 8th grade taught by Sr. Bigitta,
“I didn’t know I was a slave until I found out I couldn’t do the things I wanted,” was a quotes from Frederick Douglass, a slave before the Civil War. The Civil War saved a lot of slave’s freedom. Freedom to live your life how you to is what I believe America’s Gift to my generation is. Harriet Tubman helped lead slaves through an underground passage that she created; it got named the Underground Railroad. Once the slaves got through the passage, they earned the freedom to live their lives however they wanted to. After “rights” were given to black people, they were forced to go to different schools than white people; those school were worse and the black people did not get as much education as white people. America’s Gift to my generation is
In the Reclaiming the American Dream report (AACC, 2012), seven recommendations were suggested to meet the needs of the students, as well as having a strong community college system. Hence, these recommendation address redesigning students’ educational experiences, reinventing institutional roles, and resetting the system to create incentives for students and institutional triumphs.
Great satisfaction does come from hard work, especially when knowing a person put their all into accomplishing the task goes a long way. To say whether or not one would agree with the statement of through hard work, everybody can succeed in American society really does depend on who is making the statement. History is everything. Knowing where you began does help a person plan on their tomorrow. The division between social classes has always been there and will always be. Those who are fortunate enough to get “the break” they were looking for often times come off of their brow. Many are born with a so-called silver spoon in their mouth, but for many, that is not always the case. With social class being measured by income and wealth,
There are plenty of people who want to move up in life, work harder and put more time in to their future plans and goals. According to "The Pew Charitable Trust", they state, "84% of Americans have higher incomes than their parents had at the same age, and across all levels of the income distribution, this generation is doing better than the one before it" (W.C.I 124). What they are implying is that today's generation still struggles with what class they may be in, but they work to make a difference. Today's generation may still be stuck in the same class but they are progressively moving up. At the same time, it may seem as if they are moving up, but they still struggle with that concept. They continually think that they are moving up by working
I am very proud to be an American, for that hundreds of soldiers fight to protect u
America has given many gifts to my generation and lots of these gifts save lives and cure sickness. America has so many things that other country’s don't have. Without most of these gifts America wouldn’t be as healthy and would be poor.
Have you ever stopped to think about how truly terrifying it would be to live somewhere that was completely different from what you have been accustomed to all your life? For some this task can and would be an exciting challenge to partake while for others, the thought of learning the different customs and languages of a different country could be very intimidating. This is especially true if you’re a newcomer to the United States of America, where there are a multitude of people with different background, beliefs and cultures. It is a fact that the United States is not the largest or even the richest countries on the planet; however, many American will argue with this simply because they believe America is the “bee’s knees”. Bee’s knees?
The American Dream is defined as the opportunity for every U.S. citizen to achieve success through hard-work, determination, and initiative. Derek Jeter’s Turn 2 Foundation was created to help children grow safely and successfully into adulthood and become the leaders of our next generation. The Turn 2 Foundation promotes the American Dream to kids and students because the foundation teaches kids to work hard to achieving their dreams while laying the groundwork to a healthy lifestyle so kids can succeed and achieve their dreams the “right way.” The leaders of the Foundation achieve this by hosting and holding various events that heavily touch up
This week in class we talked about social mobility in America, which has caused me come to come to the conclusion that the American Dream is fading. We watched a video to support this claim, showing that the wealth gap in America is increasing so much that currently the top 1% owns more than 40% of the wealth in America. While the dream may have been alive years go, due to policies that make the rich richer, exclude low-income children from a quality education, student debt, increasing health care expenses, and more, it is nearly impossible for someone born into a low-income family to become part of that 1%. It is especially discouraging since the article provides concrete evidence that all children start out with similar cognitive abilities,
“The good physician treats the disease; the great physician treats the patient who has the disease” (William Osler). “Good” physicians treat the patient not just the disease. This topic is important to me because I think caring about the older generations like my grandparents and great grandparents. My generation has been given the opportunity to receive good health care where my grandparents did not have that opportunity. People need to take care of their health carefully. America’s Gift to my Generation is health care.
