Tupac Shakur’s life on paper The life of Tupac Shakur was eventful and not normal per say, because he had so many events happen in such a short life he lived. In the beginning he had a hard home life, with a single mother being the only one to raise him. He eventually was discovered as a rapper and then his life started becoming less of a money struggle and more of a power struggle. He fell in and out of love with multiple women and was not able to have the children he wanted. He was signed to a record company that got him out of jail, that changed his life, and is suspected to have played a part in his death. He lived a short life, but a life filled that was memorable and filled with struggles and greed. The shooter to this day remains unidentified, but suspicions and accusations are still stirring in current time. Suge Knight claims to know who gunned Tupac down, repeatedly telling the media that it was his ex-wife and her husband trying to shoot Suge but missed and hit Tupac. None of this could be proven though, there are also rumors saying that a Las Vegas police officer was paid millions of dollars to keep quiet, and another conspiracy is that he is alive and well and living in Mexico. According to research and factual evidence all those accusations are false, and Tupac is deceased. Everyone knows a guy by the name of Tupac Shakur, but how do people know Mr. Shakur? Maybe it is by the hardcore gangster and obscene rap lyrics directed towards people, more so aimed towards his east coast rivals. When most people hear the name Tupac, they think of a tattooed thug, a gangsta rapper killed in a tragic shooting who only got what was coming to him, a man who lived by the gun, and who died by the gun. However, those people probably have never taken a chance to look beyond what their eyes tell them, past the ignorance and into the depths of the man who really was Tupac.
Several shots were fired at Malcolm X and, “bullets of two different calibers as well as shotgun pellets had been removed from his body,” (Kihss) during the autopsy which gave police the conclusion that there had been multiple individuals trying to shoot Malcolm X. Others who were spectators in the crowd were also injured in the shooting to cause the crowd to panic so that there would be a diversion and the shooters could get away. Hagan being one of the shooters was the only man spotted by police as he fired his gun at Malcolm and was found with the same kind of ammunition in his pocket that was shot into the now dead Malcolm X, incriminating Hagan. Tupac, as most of his dedicated fans already know, lead a very turbulent and troubled life which was often depicted in his music. His relation with his mother, gang culture, fixation with death and poetic realism was often depicted in his music; yet he may be considered one of the most transparent and controversial rap artist to ever grab the mic.
Tupac's life changed majorly many times. One example of this is his mother was part of the Black Panthers. This taught Tupac bravery and courage and he showed it by not being afraid to make a song thanking his mom for preparing him for his life. That same year he also dropped his album Me Against the World . He record this album while he was in jail. According to a BET article, he was arrested for a felony with a deadly weapon. Despite his issues of being in prison, he was the first artist to go Number One on the Billboard charts while he was in prison. On September 7th 1996, Tupac was gunned down and was pronounced dead after 6 days of fighting for his life. As an artist he spoke a lot of violence and how to be aware of the society that everyone is exposed to. He spoke to the youth and was actively involved in the group the Black Panther which emphasizes equity and black power. Tupac music had meaning and emotion behind it that most struggling people in the urban community could connect to which made his so popular because people could relate. Tupac Amaru Shakur was a very influential person who overcame many difficulties. Tupac was a rapper of truth that spoke about the things that go on in the “Hood” and the unjust police. He was treated differently because he was black and was even arrested for jaywalking. After he was arrested he was beaten by the cops who wanted him to “learn his place”(Joseph 29). This shows how bad Tupac had it because he was African American. Tupac died an early death at 25 because of a brewing rivalry between the East and West Coast rappers. Shakur was a person who would stand up for what he believed in no matter the cost and died fighting for that. He never let anyone win a battle that he was determined to win and always knew what he was fighting for. His mother was the same, as a loyal member of the Black Panther Party, a group that protected all African Americans from police brutality. On November 30, 1994, Tupac entered a Time Square studio accompanied by Stretch, one of his close friends, and his manager, Freddie Moore. There was a black man sitting on the desk in the entrance way of the office building. The man got up from the desk as two other men walked through the door. The three men followed him to the elevators, drew their guns and yelled, "Give up the jewelry, and get on the floor!" His mother and father were Billy Garland and Alicia Faye Williams who were both part of the Black Panthers. The party’s original purpose was to patrol African American neighbourhoods to protect residents from acts of police brutality. His mom started to get more active in the Black Panthers and soon changed her name to Afeni Shakur and named Tupac to Tupac Amaru. He would then get his named changed again to his younger sister Sekiya’s father mutulu Shakur. Tupac’s life was hard. None of his fathers stood around and his family would move from shelter to shelter. His mom would soon later get addicted to crack.
