The purpose of this brief is to inform Marines on the Marine corps order for uniforms, appearance, and wear. Upon completion of this brief I am confident that you will have the knowledge and skills to properly wear the approved Marine Corps MCCUU uniform or “cammies” as commonly known.

From Sea, Air, and Land, the U.S. Navy Seal Teams are the most feared and respected commando forces in the U.S military if not the world. The Seal Teams are the most elite and highly trained forces on the face of the earth. President John F. Kennedy formed the teams in 1962 as a seagoing counterpart to the U.S Army Special Forces.

The U.S. Marine Corps’ is thought to be one of the five free standing military departments, but in all actuality there is only three departments. The U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, and the U.S. Navy are the only branches of the military that are correctly recognized as their own departments. There are two other Branches of the military that are under the U.S. Navy, one is the United States Marine Corps’. They were created to protect, but now they need protecting from budget cuts and disbanding. In order to protect the Corps’, they need to become their own U.S. Department, with their own funding and supplies.

The history of the United States military spans way back to over two centuries. During those years, the United States evolved from a new nation fighting Great Britain for independence from 1775 to 1783, through the monumental American Civil War in 1861 to 1865 and, after collaborating in triumph during World War II, to the world's sole remaining superpower from the late 20th century to present. There are many different cultures or social groups that have a language barrier whether that is because of religion, race, or social differences. These language barriers eventually will have to be overcome so that we can all communicate with each other. Out of these social groups, comes the greatest fighting force in the World, The Marine Corps. Marines have a very unique language dialog that has been preserved for hundreds of years Unfortunately, there comes a point in time when a Marine must transition out of the Marine Corps into the “Civilian World” (as we call it). Transitioning is a very exciting time for Marines but it also is very difficult time due to the strong language community that we belong to.

Navy seals have many teams across the entire globe, and the most popular is seal Team Six (Jason Graham and Stephen Baron). There are some occupational things you learn becoming a seal and being one. These Occupational Skills include: Climb, Conceal, Demolitions, Hide, First Aid, Handgun, Martial Arts, Navigate, Other Language, Parachuting, Photography, Pilot: Boat, Rifle, Sneak, Spot Hidden, Submachine Gun (Jason Graham and Stephen Baron). Plus one of the following as personal specialty: Electronics, Machine Gun, Medicine, Heavy Weapons (Jason Graham and Stephen Baron). Seals is a acronym for Sea, Air, and Land (United States Navy Seals). They also partner with the U.S Government agencies such as the CIA and the NSA (United States Navy Seals). The US Navy Seals are mostly used during the Vietnam war for demolishing and disarming bombs so that water rafts were able to get through (United States Navy Seals). Navy Seals go through the most gruesome training exercises, go in the most daring and classified missions, and use the most up to date weaponry.

The President’s Own United States Marine Band is a professional wind ensemble that is apart of the United States Marine Corps. It is our nation’s oldest professional music ensemble. The mission of the ensemble is to provide music for the President of the United States and the Commandment of the Marine Corps. The Marine Band has a long, rich history, with many premier musicians who have had their careers begin, grow, and flourish in this ensemble. As this ensemble serves as an outlet for many of our countries finest musicians to perform for our country.

Would you quit working to obtain something you want if it was just “too hard”? If someone truly believes in a cause then they would give everything to achieve it right? Would you just like to blend in with the crowd or do you want to stick out? If one answered yes to any of the previous questions, then one wouldn’t have the characteristics of either a Navy SEAL or Marine. SEAL training is considered harder than any other nation’s special forces training. Likewise, the United States Marine Corps (USMC), the most revered branch of the military, also trains hard preparing future “Devil Dog’s” (motivational nickname for Marines) to defend our country starting with 12 strenuous weeks of boot camp. Both Marines and SEALs put their lives on the line to defend our way of life, but what makes them different? A better question might be what doesn’t make them different from each other. Many people may think that they both fight in combat, they both train for multiple months and they both are in the military, and each is trained to be a shooter first, so they must be similar. This is not the case. Both groups do have many similarities, but also plenty of differences in size, training, schooling, roots/history, requirements, uses in the past and strategies.

In 1971 a scientist known by his students as Professor Zimbardo conducted an experiment to test if the leading cause of abusive behavior in prisons was the inherent personality traits of prisoners and the prison guards (Wikipedia. “Goals and Methods”). Zimbardo began his experiments by selecting twenty-four of his students, twelve to be prisoners and the other twelve to be the guards. His experiment was funded by the U.S. Office of Naval Research due to the interest of both the U.S. Navy and the Marine Corps interest in imprisoned conflict. I would like to be in the Marine Corps JROTC program because it will be able to help me learn the basic elements and the need for national security and my personal obligation as an American. The Marine Corps JROTC program will also help me strengthen initiative and individuality to establish natural gifts, to teach me self-control, progress personal character, responsibility and aspect of integrity, loyalty, and dedication. This program sparked my interest as I know that it is highly beneficial and can teach or promote positive, productive behaviors. Just like Nicholas Herriman expressed, I often heard growing up that going to college and living on your own is a rite of passage to entering adulthood. I did not join the Marine Corps right out of high school. It was about two years after high school and living on my own when I decided to join the military, however the rites of passage was often used in the military as a way to signify that individuals are now a men for joining the Marines. What makes these two examples not qualify as rites of passage is due to the fact that they were not sudden events. These events were more of a longer transition.
