The story that I am telling you today is about Lita Morgan. A little girl who was adopted at the age of two by a cruel woman, who turns into a torturous nightmare in her childhood and adolescence. Christine Morgan forced her daughter from 4 years old to countless of cruel situations which broke her little soul and body. The abuse included: make her drink bleach from a cloth used to clean toilets, holding her head under the bath water until she felt breathless, and the constant threat to kill her. Lita Morgan, who is 27 years old now, dared to tell her story when her mother was convicted of cruelty against her. She reported the crimes to police due to much suffering post-traumatic stress caused by the abuse. She talked about her case because she said: “I never want a child to suffer in the way I did. Nobody capable of such violence should be able to adopt a defenseless child.” During the interview with Kelly Strange from Dailymail.co.uk, Lita mentioned that she felt let down and angry that was left suffering at the hands of that woman for a long time, and that social services could have saved her. However, they only missed abuse signs and believe the explanations she gave of the injuries. Apparently, the school had reported the abuse signs that they noticed. When this happens Lita surrendered thinking she was never going to be saved. Lita added in the interview that she was treated differently to her brother, who was also adopted. As well as that, she was kept locked
She said she lacked a stable home environment, was kept from her father for many years, was removed from the custody
this shows that was afraid of her father and that she won't answer without her father approving it . she has been physically abused as shown in what actual happened in the crime. She also said that the only time her father is bad is when he's drinking . that is probably when he abuses her and there is some evidence of sexual abuse .this proves that her gender does not give her much power
Ever since the age of three, Claireece Precious Jones suffered from sexual abuse from her father. Her mother knew about her husband raping her daughter be did nothing to stop and save her daughter from this man. Rather than taking out her anger on her husband she beats Precious until she is black and blue and accuses her for stealing her man. After the only man in their life leaves, the abuse does not stop it gets worse. Her mother begins to sexually abuse Precious as well and forces her to perform sexual acts on her.
She knew if she kept her child, her child would too experience a life with no freedom.
Lacey Spears is a former mommy blogger. She made her living telling people about how they should raise their children. Last year, she was sentenced to 20 years in prison for killing her son. Lacey stated that prison life has been brutal. She has also been treated very badly by her fellow inmates. Lacey recently spoke to John Glatt about her experiences in prison. What she had to say was shocking.
Neglected, raped, brutally slapped, thrown in the air, and bitten. From the day she was born till the day she died, by her own father, mother, and uncle. Her name was Brianna Lopez. An innocent child whose name would be adapted into a bill, making child abuse an A felony, and demanding a minimum sentence of 30 years to the offenders. Her mother, Stephanie Lopez, witnessed all the suffering of her innocent daughter and even participated sometimes in the abuse, resulting in Brianna’s death at only five months old. Stephanie was sentenced to 23 years, but because of her “good behavior” she was released on October 2016. Lopez did not complete her full sentence, and is now walking freely on
Her father was a drunk, her mother was mentally ill, all she had was her three siblings to struggle with her by her side. Throughout her life she wasn’t given all that she needed, and her parents put her in many dangerous
powerful story of how she had endured more pain at the age of 12 than most could
Dave Pelzer once said “Childhood should be carefree, playing in the sun; not living a nightmare in the darkness of the soul” (Goodreads). Indeed, most parents and other caregivers do not intentionally hurt their children. However, many children each year are traumatized by physical, sexual, emotional, psychological abuse, and neglect. In the memoir The Glass Castle, Jeannette Walls reveals that she cannot lift the burden of her childhood experiences. Throughout writing The Glass Castle, the author tries to comfort herself to relieve her pain, examine her past and portray to her readers how damaging the legacy of abuse and neglect can be.
One of the aspects that can lead a women to commit a crime is their upbringing. Living in an inadequate neighborhood, surrounded by crime, gangs, and drugs are factors that can lead a women into crime. In the case of Tabatha Rowley her upbringing and past life, pushed her into committing assault in the first degree. In my opinion, I believe she assaulted her victim because it was a defense mechanism. tabatha was forced into this crime because she has had a previous history of domestic violence from other men and it is all she experienced all her life. She believed that if she did not react now he was going to kill her instead. while tabatha completed her sentence, she learned how to love herself again. with a special treatment after jail, i believe she can be reintegrated into society and be productive.
When Vargas heard the sentence on his release from the judge, he ends up into tears. Vargas mother was also present in the court. His sister was also there. Vargas mother, Blanca Attore, reported to media (LA Times) that:
She continues her argument by stating, disadvantaged black women are being targeted for prosecution not for abusing an unborn child, but because they are targeted for being poor black women. “A policy that attempts to protect fetuses by denying the humanity of their mothers will inevitably fail. A commitment to guaranteeing these fundamental rights of poor women of color, rather than punishing them, is the real solution to the problem of unhealthy babies” (Roberts, 1991, p.1482).
"In 13 years in this job, I think I've only once come across a case where the parents really didn't seem to love their child," -Sallyanne Jones (Moorhead, 2012). Jones has been a social worker who specializes in child protection for the past 13 years. As a mother herself, she finds it unbearable to consider losing her child to the foster system. In the article, “Removing a Child is Terrible”, Jones goes over a case in which she's shown working with a young couple, Tiffany and Mike, who are struggling with the determination of trying to care for their three-year-old son. Jones and her team of fellow social workers do their best to train the duo into becoming adequate parents. But soon, Tiffany becomes pregnant for the second time. Sallyanne
Ann was date-raped when she was only 17 years old and found out she was pregnant. Her parents pressured her into marrying her current boyfriend, or the date-rapist, to prevent family embarrassment and keep him out of jail. Ann’s boyfriend was told that beating her would cause a therapeutic abortion, so Ann was subjected to horrid treatment including throwing her against walls and choking her. When Ann left her boyfriend, she was not allowed to get an abortion, and her baby was born with extreme brain damage. She says “A simple legal abortion would have spared me so much anguish, so much torment and suffering… What was gained by laws that kept me pregnant against my will? Nothing, except the rapist got away with his crime”(Ann’s Story 1). Abortion is a highly debated topic which involves the termination of a pregnancy to best suit a mother’s situation. A fetus is comprised of sperm and eggs, which are most of the time disposed of naturally. A fetus, however is not a human being with rights until it is outside of the womb. Abortions must remain legal because women should be able to have control of what they do with their bodies, there is a difference between religion/ beliefs and law, and abortion is inevitable so keeping it legal would be safer.
ended up being blamed for all that has happened to her even if she wasn’t at any fault.
