People tend to judge each other based on their ethnicity or religion. Certain groups of people shouldn’t be limited or less valued because of the way they look, or their religion. Trumps immigration law is discrimination against certain religions and countries. The majority of people that are effected by the immigration law originate from Muslim based countries. For example, PBS Newshours states that president Trump stated that the states did not have to show how every Muslim is harmed, only that the ban was motivated by religious discrimination. Therefore Trump is explaining that the law is discrimination against Muslims which is not right. This is why the immigration law Trump is trying to pass is discrimination against a large amount of
However, since President Trump was elected, the Bureau of Prisons has restored those contracts and ICE is proposing five new private detention centers -- in Detroit, Chicago, St. Paul, Salt Lake City, and south Texas.
In The New York Times’ article called “Trump’s Immigration Ban Is Illegal” published on January 27th, 2017, David J. Bier expresses his personal opinion about the execute order signed by Trump that supports to bar all permanent immigration from seven majority-Muslim countries. According to Bier, the order is illegal, since Congress outlawed all discrimination against immigrants and American citizens based on nationality, race, sex, place of birth, or place of residence by means of The Immigration and National Act of 1965. However, Bier explains that the 1965 law does not ban discrimination based on religion, which was Mr. Trump’s original proposal. The author uses examples to prove that presidents have used their powers many times to forbid
There are no social injustices that go without affecting the public, and Executive Order 13769 has impacted many people not only in our nation, but also in the periphery, in many different countries around the world. The victims of this social injustice are primarily those from the seven countries, especially Muslims, but anyone who has put their faith in American idealism will experience the fallout from this destruction of our constitutional values. When it comes to accepting refugees now, the White House is essentially prioritizing Christians over Muslims from the Middle East. In fact, in an interview with the Christian broadcasting network a few days after the immigration ban was instated, Donald Trump claimed he would favor Christian refugees as an exception to the executive order (Yulas). People with dual citizenship are being affected now as well by not being able to travel freely outside the country without worry they may not be allowed to return. A specific victim of this injustice, Thon Maker, a rookie on the Milwaukee Bucks, is a native of Sudan, one of the seven countries that Trump has banned for travel (Reports). The National Basketball Association is now concerned with Maker’s ability to travel with his team to Toronto for future games (Reports). The immigration limitation not only affects people living in the seven countries, but also those who care about upholding our values and human rights
Over the years immigration has been a heavily debated topic, as policymakers consider U.S. labor demands and border security concerns. Immigration reform has escaped Congress for years, moving decisions into the executive and judicial branches of government and pushing the debate into state and municipal governments. Meanwhile the fates of the approximate ten million illegal immigrants in the U.S., as well as future rules for legal migration are undecided. (Cfr.com) President Barack Obama must be the most well-known player in immigration as of right now. Barack Obama won over Latinos in 2008 with a promise to have a complete reform on immigration in his first year in office. Latinos, were disappointed after Obama not only failed to push for an

comprehensive immigration reform could bring to this country, to the native- born and immigrants workers as well. Also, he makes emphasis in how the number of undocumented immigrants has increased since 1990’s; therefore, the economy of United States has dramatically increased.
if he believes it would be detrimental to the interests of the United States.” And he can do so “for such period as he shall deem necessary.” This statement contrasts with the article, “Trump’s Immigration Ban Is Illegal” by David J. Brier, which states that The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 stands in the way of Trump’s ban being legal and constitutional. The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 was enacted in 1968, which “bans all discrimination against immigrants on the basis of national origin, replacing the old prejudicial system and giving each country an equal shot at the quotas.” Briar states “The 1965 law does not ban discrimination based on religion which was Mr. Trump’s original proposal.” He feels that Trump ban is illegal and
Donald Trump is running for president. He is laying down a lot of proposals. One of the biggest proposal is trying to ban Muslims from entering the United States, when he becomes president. Donald Trump addressed these issues saying that he is trying to protect the US and the people away from danger. This is important issue because it is unconstitutional.
I understand that your current stance on immigration reform is that families should be reunited, not divided. While you believe that the story of America is a story of immigration, and that immigration reform should seek to ensure that our border remains protected, you agree that major steps need to be taken in order to correct our nation’s flawed policy regarding foreigners entering our country. As well, you have a multi-step plan that involves expanding President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Deferred Action for Parents of Americans (DAPA) programs that provide relief to the “parents of DREAMers, the parents of citizens, the parents of legal permanent residents, and other immigrants who would have been given legal
Reforming the system has wide support from Wall Street, advocacy groups, the American people, and politicians. “Billionaires Warren Buffett, Bill Gates and Sheldon Adelson urged congress to regulate the flow of immigrants coming to the United States and provide them a path to citizenship. They highlighted the economic value to the U.S. if lawmakers made it easier for skilled foreigners to work in the country, and the need for dealing with the undocumented population in ways allegedly true to Americas forgiving and generous traditions” (Tonolesen, 1). As recently as the 2014 midterm elections the majority of potential voters were found to support comprehensive immigration reform. As many as forty-four percent of the electorate considered reform an important issue;
In 2014 there were 24,000 children arrested at the border for trying to enter America illegally("More Children and Teens Crossing into U.S. Unaccompanied." Newsela. ). This shows that more and more people are trying to enter the United States after the immigration reform bill was proposed. The Immigration Reform is supposed to slow down illegal resettlement while broadening the circumstances in which immigrants can come into our country. Obviously this is not the case because before the reform was proposed there was a count of only 13,000 immigrants coming illegally. The immigration reform should not be passed because obviously we have some things we need to straighten out.
Now days, people that are legal in this country do not see the fact the millions of immigrants are illegal here, trying to make a better future for their families and themselves. Maybe the citizens of the United States just do not care about what is going on right now, about all the deportations; but who cares about this people? Who are the ones suffering? People now days do not ask these questions because they just do not care. Children of the age of 5, of the age of 1, of the age of 16 are the one that care about these deportations and the ones suffering because they are suffering for being left behind for their parents. If these people do not care about the illegal immigrants and the children left behind, why does the immigration reform bill is not being pass?
(Berman). Hispanics aren’t the only that Trump has attacked, he believes that “he would consider requiring Muslim-Americans to register with a government database or carrying a special identification card,” (Obeidallah), which many have expressed that it mimics laws that the Nazis used against the Jews. While Trump hasn’t broken any law expressing his opinion about other races, he does express his ideas of deporting immigrants and building a wall to keep them out of the country and stereotyping every race. Trump proposed to “stop immigration from any nation that has been compromised
I am the eager to say ‘all people are created equal.’ When there are a people in a country, city, town, illegally, that says it all. They are not legal, therefore, against the law. When a person rob a bank, it is an illegal act, therefore, against the law. Once immigration law goes unenforced, citizens question why all laws are not equally subject to nullification. Thousands of illegal aliens operate cars without mandatory insurance, driver’s licenses and registrations. When an accident is caused by the illegal immigrant, the citizen is left to pay for their own car and the illegal immigrant either leave the scene of the accident or is not held responsible. In some municipalities, are not arrested for such violations. Currently among illegal
It would be ignorant to ignore that while many countries in the middle east have been included in this ban, the countries there which Trump has business ties with have not been included. This brings about the obvious question of a conflict of interests in the white house. Many of the supporters of this movement claim to be doing this for the better of the future generations of this country because immigrants from the middle east are "dangerous." I ask you, how can that be true if there have been twelve terrorist attacks carried out of middle eastern citizens on America in all of history while 136 were carried out by American citizens over the course of just five months last year? This ban is ill advised, elitist, pretentious, and wrong. So of course when he was called out for it by someone in power Trump did all that he could do. He fired her. It is obvious that our president does not have his facts straight or the citizens best interest at
