The Pros And Cons Of Abortion In The United States

There are two main political parties you can choose from in the United States, The Democrats and the Republicans. There are also third parties you can choose from. People can choose to be part of any party. We are divided by the left and right side on the political spectrum. The right are more conservative and the left are more liberal. These two political parties show philosophical differences through their viewpoints on major topics. With so many differences between the parties, finding topics or issues upon which constituents agree on can be difficult.

This quote, by Martin Luther King Jr, represents how Martin Luther King Jr really feels about abortions, and how abortions relate back to the idea of slavery. As abortions are spreading all across the world many people have wondered if there are any positives to abortions? If there are not any positives to abortion then people may wonder, what are the negatives to abortions, and how do other people feel about abortions.

In Texas, there are many laws that place restrictions on the challenge of abortion. According to the Oxford Dictionary, abortion is defined as "the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy." Currently, with the Texas Senate Bill 5 declaring unconstitutional, there are fewer rules on abortion. However, many women cannot have abortions due to procedural and procedural restrictions.

Before 1973, abortion access was determined by state legislature for each individual state with no consistency across the United States. Some states allowed abortions but most state statues heavily restricted or completely banned abortion. The restricted states would generally only allow abortion in the event of rape, incest, fetal anomalies, or the woman’s life is at risk. Abortion is a subject that numerous people have strong opinions about; some believe that it is a form of murder and should be banned, yet others believe that the decision should be for the woman herself to make. In my eyes, the choice to abort or not abort is the woman’s, not the public’s. However, many men disagree with pro-choice.

I hold the belief that a woman should have the right to have an abortion if that is what she would like. This means I identify as a pro-choice supporter. If the government ever decide to illegalize abortion, it would mean that women do not 'own' their body and instead the lawmakers do. As soon as a third party, such as lawmakers, are given the power to decide that abortions are wrong and they decide to ban abortions, women are no longer in control of their own bodies which makes them powerless.

Throughout history and prevailing to modern times, abortion has proved to be one of the largest controversies in America. There are two main stances on abortion: pro-life and pro-choice. People who are pro-life believe that abortion is inhumane and should not be conducted. On the other hand, ones who are pro-choice support and work towards reducing abortion, preventing unwanted pregnancies, educating women and the youth, promoting contraception, and guaranteeing that families have the obligatory resources to raise fit children. Although the pro-choice movement is heavily supported by women and men who believe in reproductive freedom and abortion as a fundamental human right, recent changes and lack-there-of in the U.S. government considering abortion laws have proved America to be ambiguous on their stance on abortion as pro-choicers are constantly fighting for their rights.

Of course when making any decision it is important to critically think out the whole situation. It is very important to not make irrational decisions. In order to help make the best decision the pros and cons should be taken into consideration. The pros of having an abortion could be but not limited to, being unable to financially afford a child. There may be health risk for the woman so an abortion may save a life. Both candidates have their pros and cons, mostly cons but one will become president. And both have really different thoughts on all controversial topics. Abortions are a big issue among women in the US. Most conservative states/people believe that it should be banned and illegal in the US, while liberal states believe that women have a right to their bodies and can decide on what to do if in situation.

I disagree with this policy because a life is being taken away without giving a chance to live.

Evidence offered by the fourteenth amendment, various court cases pertaining to abortion, and several philosophical arguments from renowned professors support the shift of the decision from federal to state power. Medical necessity is the only exception in which an individual should be granted unrestricted access to abortion.

The debate on whether or not to make abortion legal has been an ongoing conflict since Roe v Wade. On January 22,1973, The Supreme Court made abortion legal in the United States.This decision held that a woman, with her doctor, could request an abortion without legal restriction. State restrictions could be applied in later trimesters. There are usually two sides in this debate. Those who believe in pro life and the others that believe in pro choice. Although another question arises, is there a blurred line between being pro life and being pro choice. Are you able to be both or is the line straight and clear. I myself would have to be in the percentage of people that stay in the blurred lines not teetering on both sides but proudly standing on both.

Abortion is a very controversial topic that not everyone can speak freely about without getting offended or offending others’ personal views and beliefs. Before 1973 abortion was illegal unless the mother’s life depended on that of the abortion. Women had to go through unsafe and unprofessional means to have an abortion preformed. It wasn’t until 1973, when The U.S Supreme Court sided with Roe, in Roe v. Wade. Wade, 1973) Pro-choice allows women to have a voice, the power to choose and the opportunity to for once decide for themselves. For the most part abortions take place in the first trimester, adoption is not always an alternative and in some cases of rape or incest an abortion is called for. This is why pro-choice should not be over turned despite what pro-lifers advocate.

They believe that any stage of life is valuable^and the^life of the^unborn baby has the same^rights as the mother. However,^Pro-choice supporters^believe that it is the woman’s right to^choose what she may do^with her own^body.

Inherently, the idea of reason and emotion have direct association with faith. It can be seen with the connection of reason with religious knowledge systems and the altercations they cause to our belief, changing our emotion and reason behind a situation. For instance, currently there is a quarrel between Christians and the United States government in legalizing abortions, and their reasoning as to why it should not be legalized directly manifests itself within religious ideology. As seen in The Bible Psalm 127:3, "Truly children are a gift from the Lord; the fruit of the womb is a reward,” and in other examples, this religious group has crystallized their opinion on abortion using the word of their God as justifiable, however is this valid?
