Over population is an extremely serious problem facing the world today. According to an article from Newsweek in Oct. 2009 called “Where do babies come from?”, today’s world population has reached over 6.6 billion people. Also the article mentioned that in 2009 57.4% of all new born babies who were born this year came from Asia alone. This is an issue because over population can lead to hasty consumption of resources. China who has one of the largest population in the world with over 1.3 billion people, has taken a stance against over population.

The world is being over populated with humans not only in China but in the United States of America as well. The problem isn’t as obvious in the United States as in other countries, but I believe over-populated nations will soon become a problem everywhere in the world. Population is not a bad thing in all situations, but I think that our population growth problem is un-healthy and needs to slow down. I believe there are several ways to come about this problem as well. Population can be slowed down in many ways; it’s just how we choose to execute this problem.

It is not hard to imagine with this growth that soon the world will run out of room for all of these people, not to mention the ability to feed them. The world already has over a billion people with no access to food, clean water, or sanitation (Kuo, 2012). Now put yourself in this room, close quarters and hungry. You see a rat over in the corner. Would you fight for it? You probably said no, but that is because you are not starving, and no one is inside of your personal space for now. The world’s overpopulation crisis will lead to an apocalyptic end with conflict over land and food.

The earth we live on hasn’t grown since humans first appeared on it, however our population hasn’t stopped growing. Recently the population has increased so fast, in the time it took you to read this sentence another person was born. This is becoming a serious problem for many reasons such as loss of freshwater, species extinction, depletion of natural resources, increased global warming and climate change and increased pollution. All of these problems are equally important and need to be addressed as soon possible. Our current and future overpopulation problem is going to lead to pollution and global warming .
