It is the year 2006 and a little girl sits on the living room floor listening to her mom read Cinderella to her. She is clad in a sparkling blue “ball gown” replicated after Cinderella’s. She eagerly listens as the beautiful glass slipper slips perfectly onto Cinderella’s foot. The little girl 's heart is warmed when Cinderella and the Prince live happily every after, and she too daydreams about the day that she will meet her prince and live happily ever after. That little girl was me. I always looked up to how Cinderella worked so very hard, and the hard work and kind heart were rewarded with a happily ever after. If I had known about The Poor Turkey Girl story as a kid, I would never want to read it because even though the poor girl worked very hard and had a kind heart, she was rewarded with nothing and instead punished by being forced to be lonely the rest of her life. This is just one of many reasons why the Cinderella story has better qualities than the Poor Turkey Girl Story. Although the main setting of The Poor Turkey Girl is drastically different from the Cinderella setting, the two protagonists both overcome many difficulties with help from very different characters, but even so only Cinderella results in a heartwarming ending.
* Arrow shoots the soldiers because; “Arrow pulls the trigger and ends the life of one of the soldiers in her sight, she’ll do so not because she wants him dead, although she can’t deny that she does but because the soldiers have robbed her and almost everyone else in the city of this gift. That life will end has become so self-evident it’s lost all meaning.” (Pg. 12)
When Katsa fishes him out, she and Bitterblue dress the wound in his shoulder, slump him over a horse, and set out for the king was not dead and the only one who could kill him was knocked out.
She transitioned from a normal young women to a killing machine with no emotion or second thoughts towards what she was doing. Although Arrow momentarily regains her emotion, she tries to suppress them so that she can carry out her mission. Arrow shows her struggle between her as Arrow and being her old self.
When you think of a princess you may picture a girl with a lavish dress on and a crown full of jewels on top of her head, but not in William Goldman’s The Princess Bride. The readers encounter just a regular girl from a family that was never royalty, and who is always thinking of her one true love who was once thought dead.
Every little girl wants to be a Disney princess at some point in their life, I was not different. There’s something about the good heart a princess has and the love she garners, that was special to me. Through the Arteisa Pageant, I have found my chance. I didn't realize that being a princess really did mean you were serving the community, and I wasn’t just a figure. I went out and did many things that have involved serving my community such as painting a house for a resident, handing out candy to kids for Halloween and encouraging literature to be read to children by reading to them at the Artesia library.
For Arrow, witnessing the violence and bloodshed in Sarajevo changed her outlook on the world to the point in which she completely separated her pre-war and present-war self entirely. Arrow, Alisa pre-war, was an individual who, based off of Maslow’s hierarchy, had reached her self-actualization. She knew and understood the significance of life and its purpose, “she realizes that for no particular reason she stumbled into the core of what it is to be human. It’s a rare gift to understand that your life is wondrous, and that it won't last forever (12).” However, Arrow’s attitude and perspective on life is change when she witnesses the war and realizes that the men on the hills have robbed this knowledge from her and the citizens of Sarajevo, “/but because the soldiers have robbed her and almost everyone else in this city of this gift. That life will end has become so self-evident it’s lost all meaning (12).” Satisfying her hatred, Arrow changes her name and weaponizes herself to who Sarajevo knows now. Witnessing the violence and chaos of war, changes Arrow’s outlook on life as she loses all meaning of life and even the lives of others, the lives of the men on the hills. She reaches the point where she dehumanizes the men on the hills until she sees them as mere targets. This new perspective on life, has changed Arrow’s understanding of the world around her and has altered her existence until she changed

With the majority of children’s books today ending with a Disney like, fairy tale ending, “The Paper Bag Princess” ends unexpectedly, with the princess walking happily into the sunset by herself. Even though the story ends with an unusual twist, as the prince and princess don’t marry and live happily ever after. Its message is still strong and clear, that if someone isn’t nice and appreciative to you, it is not worth it and to move on. The message is clear and evident, to be strong, brave and resourceful and to accept one for whom they are, as the princess shows her strength and independence, by being able to walk away merrily into the sunset without a care in the world. Demonstrating that not all stories end the way we expect them to and that sometimes an unexpected ending can be just as satisfying.
The story “The Princess Who Stood on Her Own Two Feet” is about a princess who wants to get married. She is beautiful and successful at everything, but doesn’t have a man. His fervent and imperious ways were in instilled in her since birth. Knowing the princess’s nature, the king did not just “happen” to find out about their affair it was planned. The fact was obvious, her choice in men was not one of which her father would approve. The discovery was a perfect way to ride her of the youth. She had no future.
Cinderella is a fairytale for children that displayed love, loss and miracles; however, when it is further analyzed, it has a deeper meaning. Cinderella is a story about a young girl who became a servant in her own home after her father remarried a malicious woman with two spoiled daughters. She was humiliated and abused yet she remained gentle and kind. She received help from her fairy godmother to go to the prince’s ball after her stepmother rejected her proposal. Cinderella and the Prince fell madly in love but she had to leave at twelve o’clock and forgot to tell him her name but she left her glass slipper behind. He sent his servants to find her and Cinderella was the only maiden in the kingdom to fit into the shoes. She
