To begin with, Ponyboy Curtis is another hero in the book because of how Pony was always a good friend to his buddy Johnny. He went into a burning church with Johnny putting their lives on the line to save little kids. One way this can be shown is from the book on page 121 when the text states, “ ‘You’ll be okay,’ I repeated firmly. Don’t start crying, I commanded myself, don’t start crying, you’ll scare Johnny” (Hinton). To sum up everything that the quote shows is how Pony was thinking of Johnny when he went to the hospital to visit Johnny when he was hurt. Which means that Pony doesn't want Johnny to be stressed out or anything so Johnny can stay calm and not have to worry about someone else. Also, since Pony saved the little kids with Johnny
A Long Way From Home Disclaimer: No, silly, I never have nor will I ever own The Outsiders. S.E. Hinton owns The Outsiders. *sighs* :( I simply borrow them for my own creative enjoyment purposes. Summary: "Steve never thought his life would come to this
Additionally, Darrel Curtis is another hero in the book because he works two jobs: to keep Ponyboy in school and to keep the family together in general. Furthermore, Darrel gave up his future to stay back and support his brothers through their childhood. In addition, Darrel also got rid of his Soc friends so he could support the gang. A quote to support this is on page 48 when the text states, “and Darry, getting old before his time trying to run a family and hold on to two jobs and never having any fun” (Hinton). This quote supports the claim because it tells about how Darrel is forced to take up a role as a parent because his parents have just recently died so he is Ponyboy and Sodapops legal guardian. And because of that, Darrel works two
To start off, Darrel Curtis is definitely another hero in the book. Darrel has always been there for both Ponyboy and Sodapop. Although Darry could have been hurt many different times, it didn’t stop him from always being there for them. In the text this can be shown on page 142 when it says, “Then Darry said, ‘I’ll take on anyone.’ He stood there broad-shouldered, his muscles taut under his T-shirt and his eyes glittering like ice.”
Noe avitia Mrs Pollart Ela 8b 9 May 2024 The Outsiders Quotes. In Chapter 9 of the Outsiders, Dally and Ponyboy headed back to the hospital after a recent rumble that had taken place which led to them winning and wanting to check up on Johnny. They went to the hospital but were soon stopped by some workers, the doctor said. “I’m sorry, boys, but he’s dying.” Then Dally begins to speak after he has heard the doctor say about him dying.
Ponyboy is a hero for many reasons, like saving the kids and lots of other things. “I’ll get them don't worry” and “I slammed a big rock through a window and pulled myself through,” Page 91. This shows how much of a hero Ponyboy because, he but his life is danger for others. Ponyboy is a big hero because he saved those kids from the building. “Shut up!
In my opinion Ponyboy was a hero because he went inside the fire at the church after he was told not to, to save the kids. That was very brave of him because he could’ve died if he didn’t have the heavy jacket on that Dally gave him. Although he only had minor burns he still saved lives by risking his own life. He could’ve just stayed outside and let Johnny and Dally save the kids but he didn’t and that shows that he was very gallant. Ponyboy was one of the kindest, loving, caring greasers throughout the whole book.
Ponyboy is a hero to me. In one of the chapters, there is a burning church and kids are stuck inside.“Then pushed open the window and tossed out the nearest kid.”(79)Pony is a hero for obviously saving those kids in the church without any hesitation. He didn’t even think about himself or how he could get hurt, he just ran without even thinking. He helped those kids which were very brave of him. He also cared about his friends after the fire. I let his first remark slide by. "Are Johnny and Dally all right?"(81)
This fact is further reinforced when Johnny later says he wants to turn himself into the cops, so Pony can go home and be with his brother, and Dally protests against this idea saying he doesn't want Johnny to “get hardened in jail” and become like him (pg 89-90). This shows that he quite strongly cares about these boys and wants them to have a better
However, Pony was the closest thing to a family that Johnny had because of the fact that his parents were always fighting. " [Teens] turns to peers for...security" (Hartwell-Walker).
Everyday people live in fear but Ponyboy knew in his heart that he had to save the children. Today in our world, not a fictional fantasy people make the same courageous decision to make a change in a situation. Ponyboy wasn't just a hero at the church though, the way he cared for Johnny when he was in the hospital was heroic. Most would question what does visiting a loved friend do? But to Johnny, Ponyboy gave him hope, throughout the entire story Ponyboy gives everyone hope.
(Page 57). This was Johnny being scared because he killed someone, and he realized what he did. Johnny did this to protect Pony from the Socs because they have hurt both Pony and Johnny
First, In the story The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton the character Ponyboy Curtis has many strengths. A couple of them are that he is tough. He is tough because when the Soc’s pinned him on the way home from the movies he was strong and didn’t just let them kill him he fought back and got away but still got caught. Another is that he is respectful, he is respectful
Also when Johnny and ponyboy first got to the church he wasn’t nervous at what might happen to him or Johnny he was worried at what will happen to Sodapop and Darry, and how they were going to cope. After the rumble when Dally brought Ponyboy to the hospital to see Johnny, Ponyboy was scared that Johnny might die from his injuries. Ponyboy was scared for Johnny and his health even though Ponyboy was hurt too. I believe that the author did a phenomenal job on creating the character ponyboy. When she wrote that Johnny's last words were “Stay Gold Ponyboy” she meant that Johnny didn’t want Ponyboy to lose his golden side after he died.
This accident caused them to have Johnny rushed to the hospital. While in the hospital Pony sees his family and at that moment when they reunite, Pony realizes that Darry truly did care about him. Pony even changed his view of socials. Pony had a gang mentality so he had the same stereotypical view of the socials that the greasers had. He thought they were spoiled, stuck up, and hateful.
They used to be extremely quiet, especially Johnny, but now they are joking around with each other. Also, “A paperback copy of Gone with the Wind! How’d you know I always wanted one?”(71). This is important because it shows that Johnny cares about Ponyboy. He knows Ponyboy likes to read, so he bought him a book they could read together.
