Comparing the differences in the book of “ The outsiders” to the movie there are a few things that have been changed. There is a significant difference with one of the deaths. A few situations are also changed . Such as the rumble and how the boys enter the hospital to see one of their friends. The intro and ending of both the book and the movies are different. There are scenes that weren’t added to the movie. The author, S.E Hinton, and the director Francis Ford Coppola deviated which parts were not as valuable and chose to cut some unimportant scenes.
The difference between how they show Dally’s death was not as significant as it was showed in the book. Dally robbed the store shortly after Johnny died in the hospital. When the rumble was over Dally and Ponyboy go to see Johnny at the hospital. When they get there the doctor in the book said that they couldn’t see him. In the movie they just go in without threatening the doctor. In the book Dally threatens the doctor with Two-bits switchblade and the doctor said” Okay you can see him,

In the book the socs. and the greasers are lined up waiting for someone to step up to begin the fight. In the movie the way this plays out is that Darry and the socs., that Darry knows, stands there already to start the fight. Before this happened the reason Ponyboy and Johnny run away was different. The reason Ponyboy ran in the book was because Darry hit him. Although in the book Darry pushes him and then Ponyboy runs out of the house to Johnny. Going to after the church burns when they were riding in the ambulance was the same. Dally’s room was the same when they went to see him. The nurse in the room was heard to be the author of the book. Even though this movie was very good, the introduction and the ending of the book compared to the movie it was different, because Ponyboy was writing his book at the end of the book and they put that in the beginning and the
The first difference between the movie and the book is in the movie Darry pushed Ponyboy during an argument about why Ponyboy got home so late. In the book, after Ponyboy returns home late Darry is furious and slaps Ponyboy, Ponyboy runs and finds Johnny in hopes of running away. But in the movie Darry pushes Ponyboy instead of slapping him, Ponyboy was already tired of how Darry picks on him all the time. So when Darry pushes him it sets him over the edge. This was an effective change because in the movie when the couch fell and it made the audience more mad at Darry. In the book that never happened so it wasn’t as dramatic and entertaining. Therefore the push was much more significant than the slap.
This scene happened when the blue mustang the Socs drove pulled up to Pony and Johnny in the park and fought Pony and Johnny and it led to them drowning Pony so Johnny stabbed Bob. This was a very important scene to have in both the book and the movie because it leads climax and would change the plot if it wasn’t in them. Secondly, Johnny was in the church fire that Pony, Dally, and Johnny went in to save children and no one thought he would survive, “Johnny, well, I don’t know about him. A piece of timber caught him across the back - he might have a broken back, and he was burned pretty severely” (95). Without this scene in both the movie and the book, Johnny wouldn’t have died, and Dally wouldn’t have died, and it would have turned out differently at the end of the book. Next, Dally was running to the lot while three police were chasing him, and he was meeting the others
The movie is fairly similar to the book except for a few exceptions. One of the main things is that the movie is less detailed and is faster paced. Another thing is that pony never went to the hospital after the fire and didn't have a concussion. When Dallas was driving to the hospital with Pony and he got pulled over by the police who was on a motorcycle. While At the hospital Johnny’s mom comes to visit him but Pony and Dallas don't talk to her. When Dally leaves he goes and robs a store and the police are after him. Then when the police catch him he raises his unloaded handgun and the police shoot him. He gets shot once and does a few rolls stands up and gets shot more. The gang goes home after finding Dally and Ponyboy starts writing the “Outsiders”.
Francis Ford Coppolaś movie left out for things from the book or they were different from it. In S.E Hinton's book the greasers visited Johnny multiple time like in the movie they only visited Johnny twice. In the movie Darry pushes pony instead of hitting him like in the book. Like in Francis Ford Coppolaś
One of the many differences between The Outsiders book and movie is when Dally robs the store. In the book it just describes when Ponyboy and Dally were at the hospital visiting Johnny. As the book described, Dally freaked and ran right out
A few similarities between the movie and book are that the movie still has the complete Greaser gang Pony, Johnny, Soda, Darry, Dally, Two-Bit and Steve. They still have some of the more sad part like when Johnny and Dally die. There is still lots of conflict between the Greasers and the Soc’s. There is still the situation where Johnny
The movie and the book have a lot in common. These are two things that are common; they both have the same characters and two people die. In the movie and the book Johnny and Dally die. Also, in the book and movie the church gets caught on fire. Johnny dropped a cigarette and left with Dally and Pony, so the church caught on fire. These are important because the church catching on
The Outsiders was a book and movie with multiple honorable morals. It is an educational book for various reasons, the lessons in this book that are portrayed are still prevalent today, it displays sticking up for yourself and others, it shows good friendship and brotherhood. The Outsiders also shows different gangs and how they interact. The Outsiders book and movie have more similarities than differences, but there are still a few. This is because not all books and movies are identical.
In the Book and movie of Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, there were many things that were the same and many things that were different. I will be talking about the similarities of the book and movie. Some of the similarities are the conflict, the setting, the theme, the characters, the church, and how johnny died. Those are only six of the similarities there are in the book
For starters, the book was more descriptive, in the move it cut out a handful of scenes which were in the book. In the novel it started Darry hit Pony, but
A comparison can be made between the two mediums of The Outsiders using advantages and disadvantages from both the movie and novel. One thing that is better about the novel is that it has better details. The movie shows us their facial expressions while the book tells us how they feel in that moment and time. Another thing is that in the novel it tells us about their surroundings and the people they are with.
The book and the movie are alike in many ways for example. The both have the same characters. The movie and the book both have Ponyboy, Soda, Dallas, Johnny and Darry esc.. Also they are the same story. The book and the movie involve Pony and Johnny running away after killing a Soc and Pony and Johnny running away.
In the book there are much more feeling than in the book. If you like having feeling in the book you would probably like the book more. In the book you can feel how they feel. For example in the book when johnny is dying you know how Ponyboy feel and how hard it is for him since Johnny is the only one of the only people Pony can really talk to. In the movie you can’t really do that. Also in the book they describe how the characters feel.
Both texts, the book and the movie were enjoyable as the main themes were relatable to teenagers, this let us as the viewer connect with the characters stories and personalities. However, both texts could be improved. With ‘The Outsiders,’ the story was very jumpy going from a climax straight down to a period of none action, this lead to some of the characters stories feeling like they weren't finished. Also with ‘Edward Scissorhands,’ some of the characters didn't portray their roles well enough so therefore, the casting choices could have been better which would have lead to a better movie overall.
Have you ever noticed the similarities and differences between the book and the movie? If not, today I will be telling you about the differences between the book ‘The Outsiders ‘and the movie. In the book, while Ponyboy is walking out of the theater he gets jumped by the socs on his way home, but in the movie he doesn’t. This event would be important to show because that might explain who the socs are and why they have bad blood with the greasers. Something you might have forgot about is that in the book Sodapop claims to have a horse named Mickey Mouse, but in the movie there is not a single mention about a horse. When Dally is shot in the book he dies instantly, but the movie he dies a slower more painful death since he got shot
