Without having an acceptable amount of knowledge about feminism, many individuals may think that it focuses exclusively on promoting the superiority of women over men, however feminism’s main focus is to understand the inequality amongst both genders. Most individuals may think feminists are only women supporters, however they advocate for equal rights amongst both genders. Feminism is devoted to empowering women, influencing them to push for equality, and improving the conditions of their lifestyles. The feminist theory is a theory that supports feminism. The goals of the feminist theory are to generate options for social change and appraise the status quo. Some examples of these female activities are childrearing and teaching. Anoother key concept of the feminist theory is social movements which are basically marches and protests. This is when individuals who are advocating the same cause march and protests of a social change. During social movemements, individuals are able to speak up about how they feel towards a soial change. Lastly, the most important aspect to the feminist theory is intersectionality. An example of this would be a Hispanic person living in an African American dominated community vs. an African amerian individual living in a Hispanic domincated community. Ultimately, the strengths of feminist theory are that they critique power dynamics within families, meaning that some gender roles that are fixed in society, are not fixed within the family due to a parent being a feminist in the family. Also, another strength is valuing and hearing women’s voices, which is very vital.
