The last stage of my proposal includes no longer recognizing the NCAA as a purely commercial venture. Until spending time in the nonprofit program at Johnson, I never considered the many different tasks associated with starting a nonprofit. Additionally, through growing up at a long-established nonprofit, I took for granted the work involved in establishing it as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. However, establishing a nonprofit involves a great deal more than simply attaining tax-exemption status. Tschirhart and Bielefeld highlight many of these aspects, such as developing the mission and vision statements of the organization (Tschirhart and Bielefeld 49). As the reading from last week discussed, evaluating and acquiring resources for an organization should stem from the mission of an organization. I work for an organization that began serving a particular population of homeless individuals in Jacksonville Florida in 1972. While these Boards are essential to any organization, they can also be the cause of major controversy. In my junior year of high school, I took a class called “Bigger Than You”, which allowed us students to create a non profit organization. The group I was part of founded and ran a non profit organization to provide relief to leprosy victims and orphans in India. We named our organization, “Touch the Untouchables” to symbolize the status of leprosy victims throughout the third world. They are not viewed as people at all, they are largely shunned by their communities. Leprosy victims are a forgotten people, so we took advantage of our great opportunity to provide some much needed aid to them. It was a sobering experience. The Non profits sector is different from other sectors. Human capital is the main resource and requires determination to gather people to support a cause. From the beginning of the class up to the last days, I learned the essentials and different scenarios in which the non profits have trouble due to different situations with staff, board of directors, budget, fundraising, planning, and much more. I also learned the opportunities available and how to manage effectively by lectures, real life experience from the professor and through examples in class. The “Triple Bottom Line” can be best included in places where nonprofits need to work on. For instance, you should best include it where the nonprofit is lacking on helping the people and the world. The “Triple Bottom Line” should only be used in places where you want to improve your business not hinder it. Therefore the “Triple Bottom Line” should be best in improving the way an organization impacts people and the environment by focusing on what the nonprofit need to do to improve across the board. Also, it can be included with monitoring and calculating cost.

Burton Weisbrod, an extensively published economist, examines the future of the ever-growing nonprofit sector and its increasing interrelationship with the private and governmental sectors; a consequence of the nonprofits need for revenues to provide services to the community. There is an eye opening number of endangered and threatened species on planet earth. It is estimated there is a total of 41,415 species barely surviving for numerous reasons. These endangered species include plants as well as animals. Failing to initiate action to help threatened and endangered species would be blatantly absurd. Due to a prodigious grant I have received, I am now equipped to impact the world by creating a non-profit organization called Endangered No More (ENM). To accomplish its main goals, to help raise awareness, and reduce the number of endangered species, ENM will need to incorporate the many leadership skills and practices of exemplary leadership.

Not for profit (NFP), or nonprofit healthcare organizations (HCO) are the most common type of business organization in health care. This type of organization primary purpose is to "serve the community it operates through the healthcare services it provides" (Cleverley, W., Cleverley , O., & Song, 2011). Nonprofit organizations are a vast and diverse community that encompass many different entities and organizations. You and I both have many of the same views when it comes to the non-profit world. I must say that my opinion stems from working in this arena for quite some time. Although some frown upon non-profits, I thoroughly have enjoyed my work experience at my current agency, as well as other non-profits I have worked with in the past. I currently work for a Child Advocacy Center, which provide services to child abuse survivors and their families. This is a topic that many like to turn a blind eye and deaf ear towards. I believe our agency has the ability to help those families in crisis understand that their lives are not over and they can live again, even though they may have experienced such horrific trauma.
