Non-profit making organizations face many challenges, but the thorniest issue remain the source of funds. It is for this reason that most frequent discussions in these organizations are about sourcing funds.

ExxonMobil foundation (“The foundation”) was established as a private foundation. The foundation is invested by ExxonMobil Corporation, and mainly focus on providing economic opportunities for women, math and science education. The foundation contributes in the arts & culture, community development, education, environment, health, human rights, public affairs, women & gender, and malaria areas. The foundation covers almost any country around the world through its proposed programs.

Our organization is a Not-for-Profit organization, and our research has been on aging diseases and the research center is reliant on funding and donations. Our annual Report possesses new and improved features with intent to show the benefit of the research center and impact on People’s lives.

Best Buddies is a non-profit organization that promotes the good through one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). It has created lasting relationships between students with disabilities and their peers, therefore, helping to improve the quality of life and level of inclusion for a population that is often isolated and excluded. It has also provided employment opportunities for those with IDD, allowing them to be productive members of the labour force. Lastly, Best Buddies has given those with intellectual and developmental disabilities the chance to realize their potential by encouraging them to become leaders.

The Heritage Foundation is a nonprofit organization that is accountable to a private membership. Moreover, the organization is tax exempt since 198. The financial records are publicly available, for example, the 2015 records are offered online for consultation. Furthermore, the foundation has a board of directors consisting of 22 members. The leader of the organization is selected though a democratic election by the board of trustees. The mission of the organization is to promote conservative public policies and to advocate for public movement across the US. This organization works with tons of companies to promote powerful messages that would have an extreme impact across the country. The Ad Council continues to be the dominant producer in the United States for public service announcements changing the lives of many.

The Fire and Burn Foundation is a non- profit health agency in California. It is governed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors all elected by the process stated in agency by-laws. Members of the board include medical and fire service professionals, business and civic leaders, burn survivors and family members of burn survivors and other community leaders. As of 2013, the Foundation was officially turned into an independent local non-profit. It is also the only Fire and Burn Foundation the provides burn survivor support and burn prevention education. Their mission is to reduce the burn injuries and deaths through fire and burn prevention education, burn survivor support programs and funding of burn care research and treatment. What kind of “non-profit organization” makes as much money as they do? The NCAA players bring in great revenue with their outstanding efforts in bringing their team up to the top, because that is what the fans like to watch. A not-for-profit organization responsible for the provision of leisure services would be Boys & Girls Club. This is an organization that truly holds up the values of being a not-for-profit organization. Their mission is "To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens" (Boys & Girls Clubs of America, 2013). With a mission such as this it is obvious that this is an organization that is about the youth and enabling them to grow as individuals.

Until spending time in the nonprofit program at Johnson, I never considered the many different tasks associated with starting a nonprofit. Additionally, through growing up at a long-established nonprofit, I took for granted the work involved in establishing it as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The IRS website provides explanation for the many these required tasks needed to file for tax-exemption status. Filing the articles of incorporation and establishing bylaws remain crucial for an organization to receive recognition as a legal entity. However, establishing a nonprofit involves a great deal more than simply attaining tax-exemption status. Tschirhart and Bielefeld highlight many of these aspects, such as developing the mission and vision statements of the organization (Tschirhart and Bielefeld 49). As the reading from last week discussed, evaluating and acquiring resources for an organization should stem from the mission of an organization. This is a transparent organization that has been saving lives and families for decades. It has a large board of directors with impressive resumes. It also appears to have dedicated employees and motivated management. Charity Navigator rates this charity at 100% for accountability and transparency. (Charity, 2017)

A non-profit organization that interested me a year ago and am proud of being a member of is the 519. The 519 has created ways of reaching to the LGBT community by presenting their organization's objectives and goal through platforms such as online volunteer membership, social media that strengthen active participation.
