It is often thought that the religion and morality and practiced by Jesus was without parallel or precursor and that his ideas were divinely inspired. These teachings were not unique compared to Essenism. The Essenes existed as far back as BC 150. There are now differences between the Essene and Christian teachings, but these differences have arisen after Jesus was a Jew living in a very religious culture. There is much speculation as to whether Jesus was an Essene or like Pharisees. Research shows that there is a possibility that Jesus was an Essene. John the Baptist is accepted by most people as an Essene. So therefore, John baptizing Jesus is a suggestion that Jesus was an Essene. The Essenes, John the Baptist and Jesus are all connected in some way.

Christianity believes in the rewards of heaven for all who accepts Jesus Christ as Lord, Savior, and son of the Most High God. Jesus shares with His disciples that He was going away to prepare a place for them, but would return one day to take them back (Jn 14:2-3). He makes a distinct separation that those who believe it Him would have a dwelling place in heaven. Contrarily, those who denounce Him would be judged and punished to hell.

Moreover, the authors of these scrolls believed that an epic battle between the righteous and those sinful was imminent and that they had to prepare accordingly (Tullock, & McEntire, 2012). Additionally, this sect tied to the Essenes by scholar likely lived in the settlement of Qumran, close to the caves where the scrolls resided.
