Every year, thousands of people try to quit smoking. Some do it cold turkey. Others try chewing nicotine gum or wearing a nicotine patch.

A fairly new alternative to these methods is a drug called Chantix (Varenicline Tartrate), a daily pill that that activates release of 35-60% of the dopamine that nicotine normally does. Brought to market on May 11, 2006 by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Chantix (called Champix in Canada Europe and abroad) is now known to do more than cause a slight high.

Chantix side effects have begun to emerge and the indications are frightening.
