Closing Statement 2 minutes: Although humans have an effect on climate change animals as well as nature’s contribution to climate change. It is a myth that climate change occurs from glaciers receding. Animals are the main production of CO2. The rate of global warming has slowed over the last decade. Our sources include national geographic, nasa, and ucsusa-a union of scientists, and others. Furthermore Earth always has and will change temperature on its own with the factors of natural causes. I think that we won because we had many graphs to show evidence. Also
The ending to this book was depressing. It evoked feelings of sadness, anger and indignation. Sadness because the animals thought that they were working towards something meaningful to them, all together. They fought hard, as a unit, to overthrow Jones and continued to work hard throughout to better all of their conditions'. As the story line progresses, you see that they are being taken advantage of, yet still innocently believe they are working towards an improved life. The rebellion results were not as they had hoped, as the book ends. The feeling of anger arises when the animals become aware that there is little difference between the pigs and the people they wanted liberty from. The animals had trusted the pigs to lead them to freedom,
Our delicate eco-system is struggling to maintain it’s complex equilibrium. The precarious state of our oceans are largely attributed to the climate changes that are on going throughout earth. Along with consistently rising global temperatures come many devastating consequences. Our atmosphere is not the only aspect of our environment that is heating. Global warming is melting polar ice caps, raising water levels in our oceans, and releasing carbon that has been trapped in ice for thousands of years. The warmer air temperature is heating the surface waters of the ocean and creating more frequent and more powerful storms. These warmer surface waters are being pushed under in the ocean conveyor belt and the overall affect is a rise in overall ocean water temperatures. Climate change has been estimated to effect 88% of cetaceans and endangering nearly 21%. More specifically, each of these changes have harmful, potentially deadly and lasting effects on Bottlenose Dolphins. Ultimately causing dangerous and toxic conditions leading to an increase of dolphin strandings and death.
Thousands of years ago huge animals roamed the earth, smaller than dinosaurs but much bigger than their relatives like the average kangaroo and wombat. These are called Megafauna, imagine a wombat but instead of being small and cute, it weighs up to two tonnes and is over three meters long. These amazing creatures existed during the Pleistocene period (1,600,000–46,000 years ago). Over the course of thousands of years Megafauna became extinct and there are three main reasons for this. It is suggested that climate change in the past had been an impact on the population of Megafauna. Another reason is said to have been human activity that drove out the Megafauna, which includes hunting and fires. When the Megafauna were around there were many
Global warming is hot topic nowadays. Alarmists and scientists fight to make their statements known, but while the alarmists avoid the scientist, non-governmental organizations pass themselves as scientist. They not only give out exaggerated data, they also have the nerve to accuse humans of being the cause of global warming. Also, we cannot be certain that we are being told the truth without knowing exactly what is really going on behind the scenes. We blindly trust those in authority because we think that they have our greater good in mind and that whatever they say must be the truth.
One of the main points that our team made was that humans caused the extinction of many of the giant animals in North America. The opposing team brought up a good point that there wasn’t enough evidence to support this claim and that climate change is the most likely circumstance because there is more evidence to support that claim. However, our team brought up a good point that humans at the time did not know how harmful over-hunting could be or the negative effects of extinction. Additionally, humans not only hunted Mammoths for their nutritional value, they were hunted for the ivory too. Often times humans did not use up all of the Mammoth and a lot of it would go to waste. Another good counter argument that the other team brought up was how biased
America is only one country in the world, but we still carry influence among nations, therefore we all need to work together. Although this article is full of ad hominin attacks against Trump and various other political figures, I agree with the underlying message: the actions of Trump and his administration are harming not only America, but ultimately the world’s efforts to reduce man made climate change. By reducing efforts to stop climate change for the sake of business, we are harming the future generations that will take our place, by damaging the earth now and by not putting in the effort needed to protect it.
Over 35 years ago, climatologist Wally Broecker coined the term global warming in a paper outlining the trends that he was noticing with temperature and C02 levels (Stefan). Ever since then, the debate has heated up on the controversy of global warming. Politicians have even used the issue to boost their campaigns. Some question whether the earth’s temperature is rising at an unusual rate. Scientists perform experiments from glacial ice to observe the correlation between carbon dioxide levels and temperature. Scientists have changed the debate over the years from debating whether global warming was actually happening to the current debate about what is causing global warming. Therefore, the term global warming in this paper refers to
Global warming has effected the world. The earth has had a drastic and devastating aftermath since humans have decided to release greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. This resulted in the ground (above or below water) temperature to rise; the very definition of global warming. This has warmed up the waters and the fish of the ocean are now living in an environment that is too hot for them to live in.
Many things that were thought to be dangerous in the past are now things that are seen or used everyday. One of these things was tomatoes. Tomatoes were once thought to be very deadly. People avoided them at all cost because they thought these fruits could kill you. These people believed that tomatoes were poisonous for many years. After eliminating tomatoes from their diets, it was observed that people were still being killed by what people thought they were not ingesting. After this conclusion, people decided to investigate these common plants further. It was discovered that the tomato itself was not poisonous, but the cutlery that was used by the people was. Instead of being poisoned by a fruit, they were being
Polar bears are one of the countless species who are endangered. They were one of the first animals affected by global warming and their population is heavily decreasing. Around 1980, the Arctic was as large as 8 million square kilometres. In 2011, studies show that the Arctic has reduced its size to 4.5 million square kilometers. In the future, will there be anything such as the Arctic? Scientist predict by 2040, only a fringe of ice will remain in Northeast Canada and Northern Greenland. This is known as the Last Ice Area. This matter is mostly taking part in Canada, since; Canada holds more than half the world’s polar bear population. Other affected countries include the U.S. (Alaska), Greenland,
Climate change is only one part of the problem with the destruction of the pinnipeds habitats, things like pollution and natural causes like natural disasters are also to blame for the destruction of their habitats. Whether in polar, temperate or even tropical conditions they still face the inevitable with the possible outcome that might cause extinction. Even though climate change and natural disasters are to be blamed for the destruction of the pinnipeds habitats, it is still only one key factors in all the destruction. Human interaction is something that also affects the habitats and the population of the pinnipeds. Humans have hunted these animals and have succeeded on obtaining oils, meat, and even their furs. These alterations and the
"We call them dumb animals, and so they are, for they cannot tell us how they feel, but they do not suffer less because they have no words” (Anna Sewell). There is undeniable evidence that animals are being affected by climate change. Even though the effects are difficult to measure, there are many different ways animals are being affected. With the loss of predator and prey species it affects the life cycles in the food chain. The earth’s climate change causes habitats such as snow, ice, or forest areas to alter, resulting in loss of habitat and food accessibility as well as causing extinction.
What is one major cause of global climate change? One major cause of global climate change is the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, which causes the warming of the Earth. These greenhouse gases are a result of human activities. Animal agriculture directly and indirectly contributes to the human activities that cause hazardous amounts of methane and carbon dioxide emissions. The impacts of livestock on global climate change are often underestimated and ignored; hence, these greenhouse gases are being emitted into the atmosphere at an increasing rate with population increase. The impacts of livestock on global climate change needs to be addressed to undermine its negative effects globally.
Take a deep breath and imagine it is Sunday morning. The birds are chirping, the air is crisp with freshness, and the sun is radiating at a perfect temperature of 62 degrees. The coast is a 6-minute drive away, and this is the perfect day to take a short journey to the rocky shore and splash in the water. However, there is one problem, an action such as driving to the beach front will almost certainly contribute to the destructive effects of climate change. Due to this claim, is it then morally obligatory to not go on this Sunday morning drive in an effort to prevent greenhouse gas emissions?
Human resources policies are at the heart of every business but when companies deviate from those policies or create a culture of their own polices that can be a recipe for disaster. Having strong human resource policies can distinguish companies from the rest and set them out to be the best but in the case of the following companies human resource policies we either neglected or altered and it cost the company more in the end. The nature of business is to make money and the policies set forth by human resources are the ethical guidelines that enable companies to accomplish that with respect to the financial world that they are involved. I will look into the policies and see whether they were a sound from the beginning or whether the policies were doomed from the start. I will see whether the policies had any ethical merits and how this was overlooked it there was a good foundation. I will look into some problems with human resource policies then I will go over companies polices that caused a near bankruptcy and a company policy that caused a complete failure.
