One of the main points that our team made was that humans caused the extinction of many of the giant animals in North America. The opposing team brought up a good point that there wasn’t enough evidence to support this claim and that climate change is the most likely circumstance because there is more evidence to support that claim. However, our team brought up a good point that humans at the time did not know how harmful over-hunting could be or the negative effects of extinction. Additionally, humans not only hunted Mammoths for their nutritional value, they were hunted for the ivory too. Often times humans did not use up all of the Mammoth and a lot of it would go to waste. Another good counter argument that the other team brought up was how biased …show more content…
Another good counter argument that the opposing team made was that the Martu have always practiced controlled burning which have prevented lighting fires from growing thickly. Additionally, the controlled burns have allowed for more diverse species of plants to grow in its place. Our counter-argument to that was weak because it was not fact based, it was just a speculation - we stated that their controlled burnings is rooted in their need to survive, not to care for the environment. A better counter-argument to the opposing team would’ve been to state that the Martu do not just burn for food, they also burn to display their ownership of their countries - those burns are not for the environment. In Paper 2 I will mostly argue that hunter-gatherers are better at caring for the environment because it’s something that I personally believe. I will most likely argue that most hunter-gatherers are better at caring for the environment but I do not believe that the ice-age hunters
The education that I have participated in within the vulnerable population includes when to call your physician and when it is appropriate to go to the emergency room. In the Super Utilizer program one client had been visiting the emergency room frequently, sometimes as much as three times a week. With this occurring it was important to provide education on when to call the physician and the appropriate times to go to the emergency room. In the first three or four weeks in the program the client had cut down to two visits to the emergency
Esteemed teacher at Elk Grove High School was arrested Thursday morning. Two Elk Grove police officers barged in on her first class of the day not only to find that she had controlled substances on her, but she also tried planting them on a student in said class.
Many families encounter the worst of sports related injuries, such as being paralyzed or even death upon playing. The NCHSAA should be more cautious upon high school athletics and make it a safer environment towards all contenders within the divisions. It is not the NCHSAA fault upon injuries, but they can make the biggest improvement upon sports to try and prevent many risky injuries. Kids will go through the pain of an injury, not to only sit and get ready to play again, but to learn an important lesson.
Pennies should not be made anymore. The penny costs more to make then they are worth. It’s not worth carrying around, it’s to bulky. The penny could round prices down.
UCM: CPSW received a call from Ms. Messerli reporting that she needs the lock number for her storage from foster provider family. She also stated that she needs the boy's cell phone back. CPSW reminded Ms. Messerli that this writer will ask the foster provider about the phone and storage numbers. CPSW reminded Ms. Messerli to focus on her recovery and not to disrupt her children as well as the foster provider and if she needs anyting to let the CPSW aware of it. Also, CPSW reminded Ms. Messerli not to contact or call both children until the theripist approves it. Ms. Messerli stated that she will try. Howerver, Ms Messerli sounded unhappy and really upset about not contacting her children Nick and Alexander.
It is clear Ryerson University needs a better way to make education accessible to all their students. With the constant delays of the transit systems we have, and the rising costs to commute, students are skipping lectures. The best solution to this problem is starting VR enabled lectures. This will keep expenses low for students and save time that students struggle to find. VR enabled lectures are far superior to the alternative, which is living on campus. By living on campus expenses increase and you’re not in the comfort of your home. Also it is not guaranteed you will get approved to live on residence because of the limited beds available. Being a computer science students we already have the necessary knowledge to make this possible, as
There are many high schools that elementary eighth-grade students apply to, and hope that they get accepted to one of the high schools that they applied to. However, I have chosen Taft as my high school. Taft high school is “located in the Norwood Park neighborhood on the northwest side of Chicago, Illinois” (en.wikipedia.org) , I have been a student at Taft high school for three years (I’m a Junior) but I still have one year to go before I graduate from Taft high school. Furthermore, in the Taft high school website it states that “Taft High School is an authorized IB World School. International Baccalaureate World Schools share a common philosophy—a commitment to improving the teaching and learning of a diverse and inclusive community of students by delivering a challenging and high-quality program of international education” (www.tafths.org). Taft high school has proven it’s an IB school and a wall-to-wall International Baccalaureate high school. Since the past three years, Mark Grishaber the principal of Taft high
Recently there has been a debate whether California should pass a ‘No Pass/No Drive’ law. This law states that if a student under 18 who skips classes too much or drops out of school would not be allowed to drive. Many people think that this law is unfair and should not take effect because it doesn’t guarantee that students will get better in school, but that is simply untrue. In fact, I believe this law should be brought into California because it motivates students to get better grades and will lower the crime rate of California.
We already know that there has been a precipitous decline in the study of liberal arts because many people do not value it anymore. English and history are now being pushed aside for math or science. Fareed Zakaria, an American journalist and author, in his article, “What's the Use of a Liberal Education?” writes, “Even President Obama recently urged students to keep in mind that a technical training could be more valuable than a degree in art history. Majors like English, once very popular and highly respected, are in steep decline.” This mindset is causing many people to turn away from liberal arts-based subjects, so they can pursue something that would “be more valuable”.
Argumentative Essay Liberal Arts The liberal arts have been a main study for people for many centuries. They have even become a main part of our lives with the humanities relating to religion and how we act. Even though they have been important and still are today, many people think that they should not be a part of college curricula. They think that instead of teaching the liberal arts, colleges should have more of a focus on more practical subjects, such finance and accounting.
Attending community college before completing your bachelor’s degree at a four-year institution can save you a sizable chunk of change. Tuition and fees at public community colleges average less than half of those at public four-year colleges and about one-tenth of those at private four-year colleges, according to the American Association of Community Colleges. “I think my student loan was at least half of what I would have paid otherwise,” O’Brien says.
Anyone would be hard-pressed to find a politician in recent years who has been elected to a national office without promising to improve education and focus their efforts on the betterment of their constituents’ children. Many of these politicians have succeeded at passing legislation to do so, but the latest of these, the Common Core standards initiative, is facing a very important query right now: does it work in America? Although Common Core is very well intentioned and in selective ways could be considered a success, there are many failures to consider as well. When dealing with such education, a vital issue, these failures must be dealt with. In order to ensure not only an equal education but also one of higher quality which the citizenry
We will be helping with the Thursday Night meal at the Highland Center on the 5th Thursday of each month for the rest of the year. The next 5th Thursday is July 30th. Stephanie Slack will be heading up our group as Ronney Joe will be out of town.
Middle school was a rough time like it was for many because I still did not even know who I was yet. MIddle school was very difficult to adjust to at first because all my life I had only been in one class all day everyday with the same teacher and they made sure you always had a note to remind you of your homework for the night. Middle school was when I began to make my own choices and had to suffer the consequences that came with those choices. In middle school is when I found out how much I liked business because of a field trip my 6th grade year to Biztown which was a small fake “community” that everyone worked in and would be a citizen in the town.
"I can 't believe I just said that!" Everyone who is human has made that statement more times than they care to admit. Nothing tastes as bad as a foot in the mouth. All too often, hot emotions or the fury of the moment leads us to say things that aren 't true except that they hurt. The sad thing is, this happens most often with those to whom we are closest. And invariably, after we blurt out hurtful words, a small border skirmish that could have been easily resolved threatens to turn into the next world war.
