Today, the Mirabal sisters are honored and recognized as heroines in the Dominican Republic and other parts of the world. They are symbols of courage, love, and sacrifice. The three sisters were killed on November 25,1960. They were stopped on the road while on the way back from seeing their husbands. Then, the sisters were taking off the road and beaten by five of trujillo's soldiers then put back in the car and made it looked like the driver had lost control of the car, and they had drove off a cliff. While minerva and trujillo was dancing, minerva got upset with trujillo, and slapped right across the face, then it started raining and everyone was going inside, but minerva and her dad left the dance e without trujillos permission. Trujillo sent some of his soldiers to get the sisters dad and he was arrested. While in jail he lost a lot of weight, and the week before he was released he suffered from a major heart attack and was not treated for it.
