The Liberal Party of Australia, also known as the ‘Libs’ or ‘LPA’, is a center-right political party in Australia. It was founded on 31st August 1945 in replace of the United Australia Party. The Liberal Party of Australia is currently the largest and dominant party in Australia’s politics. In 2013 election, The Liberal Party of Australia won 90 seats out of 150 which formed the government, while their opposition, Australian Labor Party, holds 55 seats (Liberal Party of Australia). The current leader of the Liberal Party of Australia is Malcolm Turnbull and the deputy leader is Julie Bishop.

Three of the main policies will be focusing on three different areas of Australia’s need – economy, education, and export agreements.
1.3.1 Economy

- An innovation science program, that provide opportunities for young Australians in starting up small business, with the support of tax incentives. This also gives children an insight and preparation for the future jobs involving Science, Engineering, Technology and Mathematics fields.
- Through export trade deals, Australia will be able to provide new business opportunities, for people in different industries.
- Tax cut and incentives for small businesses and ‘hard-working’ families encourage families to work hence improves the economy by reducing tax that boost spending.

These export trade agreements, in the next two decades, will create thousands of available jobs, and also boost the GDP by approximately $25 billion, which benefits consumers, households and economic growth. There are several strategies under the new trade agreement that targets partnership and bring benefits:
- Australia has benefit from the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement (i.e. CFTA). It is believed that 96% of Australia’s exports to China will be tax free which will benefit farmers by not having to pay heavy tax on export goods such as dairy, beef, lamb, wine, horticulture and seafood.
- It is believed that after the Japan-Australia Economic Partnership Agreement (i.e. JAFTA), more than 97% of Australia’s export will enter Japan with duty free. The heavy tax on beef, will be halved while other goods such as wine, seafood, processed food, fruit, vegetables and nuts will be tax free. The Liberal party was successful in the past due to its ability to reinvent itself in order to meet the changing circumstances and needs. The ‘proactive’ Liberal was strangely absent in the pre-2011 election campaign and turned themselves into a reactive and passive entity just to defend and respond to the opposition’s unscrupulous campaign of personal attacks and vilification. Liberals were always based firm on their political values and philosophy; however, these vital elements of the party were not seen to being used during the campaign for 2011 election as much as it was seen being caught in the mud-tossing against the Harper Government.
Also during this period of time Mr Keating was elected President of the NSW Branch of the Australian Labor Party (ALP). This is when the ALP returned to lead the Government on March 1983.

To me, I believe that means that the government has an important part in making sure that as a right of residency in Australia we all have health care, or being able to go to university without paying loads of money and going into debt.
