The LEGO Movie is one of the most successful animated movies in the United States. The movie seems to be just a typical, comedy animation; but, since it is made of LEGO pieces, the favorite building toys of all time, it attracts every kid who loves or plays these colorful bricks. The movie is considered one of the most influential children’s films of the year, and it carries many important messages. The story is happening mainly in the LEGO world where people live their life based on the instructions they are given. They do the same thing, sing the same song, and follow every trend possible. Although The LEGO Movie is a kiddy movie with good humor and decent message, it satirizes typical natures of today’s society where many people lost their …show more content…
The story tells about an extraordinary journey of Emmet Brickowski, an ordinary constructionist in Bricksburg City, to stop the evil plan of Lord Business. Lord Business is the president of a company called Octan, which produce every product used in the city including media entertainment, food, and even law enforcement. Although he has already controlled the entire Bricksburg City, he still wishes to control every individual directly. In this way, the movie makes a villain out of big corporation, brands and the culture they create; moreover, Bricksburg civilians never realizes they are controlled by this outrageous way. These villains perfectly mock how “today corporate giants decide who governs and how, who serves on our courts, what laws are enacted and even whether and when wars are fought, against whom and for what purpose or gain” (Lensman). They do it for their own gain, someone’s else, but certainly not the people. Octan also brainwashes everyone in the city by giving out an instruction manual of how people should live their life, and turning “Everything is Awesome” song on for everybody to sing every morning (The Lego Movie). It reflects how today’s corporations could do their marketing in every possible way to persuade us to become a part of their production, in order to make their own
Wonder, based on the New York Times bestseller, tells the story of young August Pullman. Auggie was born with a facial defect that would make him incredibly different from those around him. Although, he felt as though he was an ordinary kid, he was a huge fan of “Star Wars” and loved science, he dreamed of going to space at all times and even had a space helmet that he would wear all the time. This made him feel safe when he felt scared. His lived with his parents Isabel and Nate as well as his sister Olivia, and because of his facial deformity he was home-schooled by his mother.
The Lego Movie is a film that focuses on the impression of life in a Lego world but misses key concepts incorporated with Lego. At a first impression, the Lego Movie is viewed as a movie directed towards children to stir their imagination but this would be ironic to what is being portrayed in the film. By analyzing the ideas behind the movie in a sociological process, distinct themes can be connected and reflected within reality. The Lego Movie can be viewed in a functionalist perspective that is influenced by the conflict theory within the divided Lego society. To connect the sociological views to their society, one must understand how they interact and why they interact the way they do.
Lord business is the complete opposite of President Business. Lord Business is a very evil and selfish leader. Lord Business wants to take over the world himself and the leadership style he portrays is Dictatorship. Dictatorship is when one person has all of the power which Lords Business did have. In the movie “Lego Movie” Lord Business displays the dictatorship leadership style because of when head had faked the election to rig the voting, he told his slaves to destroy Vitruvius, and when he had covered everyone with Kragle even when nobody liked or agreed with him. Firstly, When Lord Business had the voting election, he had rigged the voting machines
There’s many movies out today that have social issues such as very depressing movies as an example Selma. I choose to do a cartoon because they are one of the main genes of movies that have a social issue in its plot. This movie has a cartoonish version of politics and other things that go on in the world in my opinion. Emmet an ordinary LEGO figure who always seems to do the right thing is mistakenly seen as the Special -- a very special person that could possibly save the world. He finds himself falling into a group of strangers who are on the same mission to stop an evil tyrant's plans to take over the world. Unfortunately for Emmett, he is not very cut out for this plan. So this movie tells you about his journey on
Although the best reasons for “going to the movies” are to be entertained and eat popcorn, understanding a film is actually quite complex. Movies are not only a reflection of life, they also have the capability of shaping our norms, values, attitudes, and perception of life. Through the media of film, one can find stories of practically anything imaginable and some things unimaginable. Movie-makers use their art to entertain, to promote political agendas, to educate, and to present life as it is, was, or could be. They can present truth, truth as they interpret it, or simply ignore truth altogether. A movie can be a work of fiction, non-fiction, or anything in-between. A film is an artist’s interpretation. What one takes away from a film depends upon how one interprets what has been seen and heard. Understanding film is indeed difficult.
Themes are the fundamental and often universal ideas explored in literary work. It has been discovered that there is indeed a common theme surrounding both George Orwell’s novel 1984 and the LEGO movie. These pieces of literature serve to warn its readers/audience of the dangers of totalitarianism. Both the movie and the novel portray a “perfect” totalitarian society, where the government has complete and total power and control. When one looks beneath the surface of these “perfect” societies, it becomes evident that they are nothing of the sort. These “perfect” societies have removed individual expression and has caused everyone to be conditioned to think alike. The citizens are conditioned to meet the needs
The documentary A LEGO Brickumentary mainly discusses about LEGOS and the effect these toys have made on people throughout the entire world. Once the researcher finished the documentary, she got to see many opinions about the toy. The researcher did not gain much information other than basic facts, such as the creator and origin. This documentary focused mostly on how it affected people. A LEGO Brickumentary left a decent impression on the researcher.

In “A Good Man Is Hard to Find” by Flannery O’Connor, a family is murdered by the infamous “Misfit”. Unfortunately the family never makes it back from their vacation. There are instances throughout the story that foreshadow this tragedy. O’Connor uses objects, scenery, and figurative language that foreshadows the family death.
Motion Pictures have always had a strong influence in today’s culture, but maybe none as prevalent as Star Wars. Originating with Episode 4 A New Hope, the series boomed from 1977 to 2005 with yet another addition coming in 2015. The strongest of the series was the original trilogy episodes 4, 5, and 6, all generally released in the 1980s. As one of the strongest film francaises still today, it’s impact within the 1980s was only the tip of the iceberg. Children and adults alike still anticipate the new edition of this seemingly endless journey. If any singular film series still holds prevalence in its future decades it is Star Wars: Original Trilogy.
What is all about life if an individual can’t be able to enjoy, relate well and have fun within his or her social boundaries? The social aspect is what makes a person to expound on the other aspects of life such as the economy, technology, and politics with minimal barriers. Movies connect the living generation with real-life situations, giving ideas on how to embrace it and live well when subjected to such circumstances.
For example, as the ad says, it builds pride. You can’t teach a kid to have pride in their own work. It is something that happens just by the child learning themselves. This is important because having self-pride in your work is a life skill needed later on in life. Lego toys also open up a child’s imagination. Lego blocks all look the same when they are by themselves. When a child puts Lego blocks together it can become anything the child wants with imagination. A growing imagination is important to a child’s development as a person. When a parent understands this, it is hard for a parent to say no, this isn’t a good toy for my child. Also, what other toy could you substitute a Lego toy for that would teach the same lessons? This is the Logos part of this advertisement. Lego inadvertently makes a strong convincing case to buy their product, because of the self-conscious lessons it teaches to

When I was still in the single digits, a fascination budded within me with the discovery of Legos. Although some people believe that the true purpose of Legos is to act as feet destroyers, I saw something greater. A mountain of rigid, stubby pieces could be mashed together to create an object? I first followed instruction manuals and then ventured out on my own accord to create whatever I wanted. I built, demolished, rebuilt, and stored creations that I loved, including cars,
