Harvarinder Sidhu CHV-2O0-D Ms.Bains November 29th, 2017 Lego Movie Leadership Styles Lord business is the complete opposite of President Business. Lord Business is a very evil and selfish leader. Lord Business wants to take over the world himself and the leadership style he portrays is Dictatorship. Dictatorship is when one person has all of the power which Lords Business did have. In the movie “Lego Movie” Lord Business displays the dictatorship leadership style because of when head had faked the election to rig the voting, he told his slaves to destroy Vitruvius, and when he had covered everyone with Kragle even when nobody liked or agreed with him. Firstly, When Lord Business had the voting election, he had rigged the voting machines …show more content…
That shows that Lord Business displayed a dictatorship because he has all of the power and can use or abuse it any way he wants too. In conclusion, Lord Business shows that he displayed the dictatorship because he had rigged the voting elections to go in his favour, when he gave to order to his slaves to destroy Vitruvius, and when he had use Kragle on everyone even though everyone disagreed with him. Master Builders were a small group of people who always worked well as a unit and always had input from everyone in their group when they made any decisions as a team. In the “Lego Movie” the Master Builders displayed a direct democracy because when they were making a plan to destroy Lord Business, when everyone agreed with Batman to go underwater, and when everyone had voted that Emit was the “Special”. Firstly, when the Master Builders made a plan to destroy Lord Business this displays a direct democracy leadership because while they were making their plan they all started to contribute to take part in making the plan and take their roles as a team to shut down Lord Business. This shows direct democracy because the decision to take Sidhu 3 down Lord Business was a team decision and everyone agreed with the idea to take down Lord Business. The Master Builders making a plan to take down Lord Business did
My research assignment # 1 I picked the movie “ Monsters , inc “ by Pixar teamed up with disney, the director was pete Docter in 2001 the movie was first released ,the movie will be 16 years old today. when first came out the movie was a big hit. This movie is showed through the eyes of the two monsters , as the movie goes on ,the two main characters learns that they should not be scared of something you do not understand, at the end of the movie they both learn overcome they fear. I think the director was trying to show that important of laughter in life , It is truly more stronger than fear.
While neither parent regards schooling with much importance, they emphasize both reading and mathematics. The Walls’ children go in and out of public schools, yet they are able to maintain a reading skill that was well above average. Since all three kids were able to read books before the age of five, proving that the ability to read is valued in the family, “We might enroll...ever surrounded us” (20-21). In addition, the children are taught unconventional skills that would help them survive in their difficult lives. For example, Rex teaches Jeannette to shoot a pistol so she would be able to protect herself. Rex stresses subjects like engineering and astronomy, while Rose Mary teaches the children about nature and appreciating
The Lego Movie is a film that focuses on the impression of life in a Lego world but misses key concepts incorporated with Lego. At a first impression, the Lego Movie is viewed as a movie directed towards children to stir their imagination but this would be ironic to what is being portrayed in the film. By analyzing the ideas behind the movie in a sociological process, distinct themes can be connected and reflected within reality. The Lego Movie can be viewed in a functionalist perspective that is influenced by the conflict theory within the divided Lego society. To connect the sociological views to their society, one must understand how they interact and why they interact the way they do.
“The Goonies” is a movie I never really enjoyed. Although it wasn’t my favorite movie,
Among several characteristics of an absolute tyrants, some of the primary ones that he mentioned are: Calling legislative bodies at distant, uncomfortable, and unusual places; refusing to assent to laws; forbidding the Governors to pass Laws of pressing and immediate importance; obstructing the Laws for Naturalization; harassing people; accommodating foreign troops; cutting off trades with other countries; Imposing taxes without citizens consent; abolishing most valuable laws; destroying the lives of people by burning towns, ravaging coast, and plundering the seas; declaring the citizens out of protection and waging war against them, etc.
In the movie “Star Wars Episode Four: A New Hope”, the film George Lucas uses the archetypes the hero, the mentor, and the tyrant to convey the theme that we as humans grow and change as people because of possible people or events that occur throughout our lives. How this is shown is throughout the movie and through the main stars of the film that are well know as Luke Skywalker and Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. In the film we see important events that perceive the change in the characters.
Pixar’s Inside Out is an interesting take on how our emotions work as well as how our brains operate. The story starts off with a narration by Joy, voiced by Amy Poehler, explaining how her job works, and how she and the other emotions came to be inside the mind of young Riley Anderson. The emotions watch and guide Riley by influencing how she reacts to different daily situations. The only thing the emotions are not prepared for however, is an unexpected move from Minnesota to San Francisco (Inside Out). This hilarious take at how our brains work allows Inside Out to create an entertaining and engaging movie using character interaction and its deeper emotional and psychological meanings.
The Australian cinema in the 1960’s failed to communicate with the audience due to their lack of promotional messages that weren’t disseminated. Media is formed by cultural, political, economic and social conditions. These influenced or even directed its characteristics and its intended meaning. After a devastating blow to the film industry in the 1960’s, filmmakers of Australia had stopped creating and making quality Australian films. However, the Australian New Wave brought a revival of the Australian film industry during the 70's, 80's and 90’s. It introduced Australian qualities into film, including larrikinism, mateship and a classless social hierarchy. The Castle and Gallipoli confirm, promote and explore features of Australian identity
confirmed that the dictators that make it in to office are psychos beforehand, but the power probably makes their greed a little worse. Bill Clinton and countless other world leaders have abused their power. In The Lost World, a company called InGen literally holds the power of life in its hands. In Gen recreated real dinosaurs, which had previously been extinct for hundreds of millions of years. They had the power, and then they abused it by trying to make some money. If they had just gone about the research no one would have been hurt, and everything would have worked out in the end, but the power consumed them. “Hammond was a hustler, and his true talent was raising money…. He built his park in an island called Isla Nublar,… but the park system broke down, and the dinosaurs got free.” (Lost World pg. 209)
“VENI VIDI VICI,” or, “I CAME, I SAW, I CONQUERED.” These are probably some of the most ludicrous yet impressive words that can be articulated from the tongue. It is reassuring to note that undoubtedly these were the exact words uttered by Julius Caesar, for they seem to sum him up perfectly. Not only was he successful in conquering the ancient world, but his name resonated through the medieval and modern worlds also, and has not failed to fascinate the one present today. Very few people can read his tale without felling a sense of reverence for the man’s “brilliance, undeterred will, and extensive achievements concluded with one of the utmost dramatic tragedies of all time” (Grant 5). There are numerous reasons why Caesar’s life, along with the lives of other notable figures of world history, deserves continual study, but what sets him apart from the other great leaders is Caesar’s versatility for he was the most “outstandingly capable over the most extensive of range” (Grant 7). He was a man not just good at his activates, but exceptional at every single one of them including governing, commanding troops, and public specking. His bold solutions to problems of economic debt, the calendar, unemployment and mercy towards Roman rebels have all become legendary. No wonder why his myth and legacy has inspired, in some way or form, every sequential age from him marking the beginning of a new chapter in Roman history in his time, to influencing writing in Shakespeare’s time, and
The body, mind, and soul of an individual are capable of becoming corrupted by power. Power makes one feel as if that person was a God, which is a sign of the corruption in that individual. According to Lord Actin, "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely," states that power can make an individual vulnerable to corruption. The second portion of Lord Actin?s quote discusses absolute power corrupting absolutely which implies that absolute power can corrupt an individual as well as the individual?s surroundings. This idea of corruption can be located in fictional novels such as Animal Farm by George Orwell. Animal Farm is a story about animals dictated by a former animal comrade. The dictator in the novel, Napoleon,
A dictator is a ruler with total power over a country, typically one who has obtained power by force. One of the most popular cases of dictatorship was Adolf Hitler, a German politician, who eventually gained control of multiple countries. In the text, Lord of The Flies, one of the main characters, Jack, is a horrific, cruel little boy who shows traits to that of Hitler. Many comparisons of the two can be made in the book, such as how they gained their power of their groups, why and how they have such power, and their mission, once their group had assembled.
In contrast to a utopia, according to the power point provided in class a dystopia is “an imaginary place where people live dehumanized and often fearful lives.” The movies The Matrix, 1999 and Avatar, 2009 overall seem to me as dystopian films. To show how each film portrays the different aspects of perspectives on the future, and a dystopia, I’m going to use the settings, actions, and outcomes of each film.
I agree with people who say movies aren’t based on real life experience, but I am pretty sure producers have specific messages to tell their audience. Movies might be long and time taking, but when there is free time to spend why not lay back and watch a good movie? Today I will be reviewing one of my favorite movies of all time, Tokyo Drift.
Businesses fail all the time. Often times, this is due to poor leadership with a lack of insight. To be a successful leader, you must know how to gain respect among your employees without making them despise you. This is a very difficult task, but luckily running a business is a lot like politics. There is so much information known today about the politics of the past, which can now be drawn on. One of the most famous books about politics ever written is The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli. This work provides an extensive look at the politics of the Renaissance era and how one could be a successful leader in that society. By applying Machiavelli’s political theory to your work life, you will be able to successfully lead any office. According to Machiavelli’s theory, in order to run a successful company, you must be able to control your people, while still, hopefully, getting them to like you.
