The Importance Of Writing: I Proofread My Writing

In the video “The The Impotence of Proofreading” by Taylor Mali the purpose of the video was to give techniques to help students in the process of proofreading a paper. Also, it talked about the most common mistakes people make when proofreading a paper for example, just checking the grammar in the computer causes to do not catch all errors included in the paper. A better option to check all errors is to print the paper and make the corrections with a red pen which will be easier for the student to go back and make those changes in the computer.

To start, people cannot change anything about them until the people accept what they need to change. For example, in Soldier's Heart Charly was disobedient and sloppy before war than this happened. “Charly raised, aimed, and fired all in two seconds. ”(Paulsen 94). In the text he was sloppy and not well trained than he fought like a true soldier.

The only way you can become better at doing something is simply by continuing to work on your craft. Whether it is a hobby, an interest, or a profession, if you don't keep working, then you will remain complacent. A year ago, I thought writing was one of those things where I would just be complacent in. Not because I didn’t wanted to work harder at it, but because I thought of writing as one of those skills that came natural to you, or you did not have it at all. I always wanted my writing to improve but never knew how.

That’s why proofreading is important and you need to always take care of the content you are publishing online. Whether you are writing for blogs or academic articles, you need to proofreading your articles before submitting them to someone.

Since I can remember I have always loved to write. When I first took college composition I it was so fun and I loved everything I learned in that class. It was so long ago so I don’t really remember everything that I learned but for the most part, I remember being able to pick a topic and write about that one topic throughout the semester. There are three aspects of my writing that I would like to improve which are tone, grammar, and style. I always write in the sarcastic tone. I would love to learn how to write in a different tone such as disapproving, critical, pleading, humorous etc. I would struggle with grammar because I'm always the type of person to do things fast. In the presentation video, one of the steps in writing a paper I can discuss is proofreading. Proofreading is primarily about searching your essay for errors. Proofreading can be a difficult process, especially when you are not sure to the sentence itself rather than to the ideas of the paper as a whole. One of the best ways I think for all of us in writing process method is to revise; the paper is with their peers. Often when peers revise another person's writing, they can notice quite of few of the mistakes that the original author never would have noticed. Sure, this takes a little extra time, but it pays off in the end. If you know that you have an effective way to catch errors when the paper is almost finished, you can worry less about

While progressing through Introduction to University Writing, there were several important pieces of information that served as reminders on how to write properly. Looking back on all of the information provided, the most important guidance I gained was proofreading my writing. No matter how many times I proofread my work, it seems there are more mistakes to be found.

I feel that keeping the order of how writing should be done is important and helpful. I think that the best way to get students to understand how things really work with the writing process is to complete a paper with them, using all the steps of the writing process. Show them how it goes and how frustrating it can be for you as a teacher. Once they see that you had a hard time, but in the end had a good result then they will know that no matter what they can do it do. Having them to help you along the way will help too. I never learn by just watching so i am sure plenty of students need to get involved in the lesson. I was able to fix the errors seen in writing by incorporating the ability of proofreading backwards. When you read from top to bottom, your paper may take on a perfect appeal that is not evocative of the mistakes made on your part as the writer of the document. Proofreading backwards allowed me to interpret my writing from a different point of view and gave me the vision necessary to catch the mistakes that I overlooked when I was revising my work. My researching skills improved due to my knowledge of the libraries extensive database. When I used the libraries database, I was able to access a wide variety of features such as Credo and NC Live to research my topic through a wide variety of credible sources. This allowed me to carry out my research with an open mind as I reviewed the work of other scholars, professors, and professional writers who offered their own unique perspective on the topic that I was researching.

Why do I deserve an A in college writing? Many hours have been devoted to this question. Each week the class met for almost 3 hours and covered a large amount of material. I have found it to be invaluable. The information has reinforced many Items that I remember from other educational experience but also provided me with new and challenging information. When in high school I took many credits of English which included some writing. The educational experience in this writing class will enhance my capabilities to further my career. The three topics that have remained on my mind are Logical Fallacies, Vocabulary structure, and writing essays. These three topics will assist me in my continued life adventures.

Getting students to take their reading assignments seriously is a constant battle. Many students remain committed to trying to get by without reading what’s important or only doing it just to prior to tests and exam dates. When given a reading assignment, I always see myself picturing what I read. Like a dream, I put myself in a story or article as if I were really there. I first make sure I read the whole story slowly, to make sure I don't read over things and confuse myself. Then, I go back throughout the story and define any words I don't know the meaning of. When writing a story, its important to look over your ideas and key terms to be able to read like a writer and create your rough draft.

Socrates once said: “The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.” Though this quote can be applied to many aspects of life, it is also true about me as a writer. Throughout this school year I have made many changes as a writer. I have improved greatly as time has passed and I have learned from my mistakes. At the beginning of the year I had little knowledge of what a thesis statement is, and what I thought I knew was wrong. Also, I used no transitions between my thoughts and ideas. It made so my ideas did not flow well. The introductions to my essays were vague and undetailed. This made my papers confusing. Altogether, my writing did not sound good. Now I have made changes to my writing through my thesis statements, use of transitions, and introduction paragraphs.
