My dad is in the Military and he joined the Military when he was 23 years old and has been in the military for 12 years and he enjoys being in the Military I am glad that he has not had to go overseas for a year, but he will almost certainly have to soon. I like living in a Military family it is fun to live in different places like Texas, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Carolina, Utah, and Michigan. Living in Utah is probably in one of my top three places to live, I have lived here for four years and I’m happy that I got to stay here for that long more than likely after four years you will have to move again and sometimes it is less than four years like two years. Living in Utah has opened me to seeing and being able to participate in a lot more activities that I would not have been able to do if I lived in other places, like snowboarding I love to snowboard and found out that I loved it while living in Utah. Not too long ago my dad found out that we will be having to move in November 2015, but my dad knows some people that he thinks can help him to stay here in Utah. I don’t want to leave Utah, because …show more content…
The next day we got up and were on the road again but today I was excited because I knew that by the end of the day we would be at my new home. Later we arrived in Utah and the drive in was awesome I have not once seen mountains in my life so it was amazing to see them. I could not wait to go and try snowboarding, because my dad came to Utah on a business trip and they went snowboarding a couple days and he told me about it and I couldn’t wait to go try it. After living in Utah for about a year and a half I learned that I love to snowboard and that I was pretty good at it too. I was settled into school and had made a lot of friends, we finally found a house that could fulfill our needs life was
I was watching TV at home like any other day when my phone rang. It was my friend calling to ask me if I wanted to go on a vacation to Dog Island. My mom said” I can go if I want to”, so I said” yes”. It was still a while before we left but, my mom made me pack anyway. I knew it would be one the best weeks ever.
Mormons Moving to Salt Lake City During the nineteenth century there were many different types of people moving west over America. One of these groups was the religious group, the Mormons. The religion was originally founded by Joseph Smith in the early nineteenth century. He first started of with very few followers but quickly many people started to come round to Smiths way of thinking. After developing the religion in Palmyra, Joseph Smith and his followers moved to Kirtland.
I awoke on a cool summer morning, at first I wasn't completely there but then, a chill of excitement ran down my spine as I realized my family was going camping today. I ran down stairs past the mountains of camping supplies and clothes to talk to my parents in the kitchen. They said we were leaving soon and that I should start packing all of the supplies into our trusty old Ford Expedition. After about 20 minutes of packing our SUV to the brim with all of the things we would need to survive in the wilderness for a few days, we said goodbye to our three cats and headed for Steelville Missouri.
Waving goodbye from the backseat of the car, as we pull out of my parent’s driveway. Looking out the window at the oddly, white shaped clouds. Thinking, I had never been away from my parents and my younger sister for so long, even though it was only for two weeks. I was excited and scared all at once, but I wasn’t too thrilled about the whole 29-hour drive there. Hoping that the trip would go well and nothing bad will happen to us.
Being in a military family is very hard when it comes to moving, after knowing friends for a certain amount of time and having to start all over. My next three years of my life were spent in Japan and this was very different from the United States, if not already obvious enough. I had to begin learning the language of the land, which was quite difficult having been so young. I had
I moved to Utah, January 3, 2000. Moving to Utah at age 20, had some definite “culture” shocks after growing up in California. I noticed when I first went to the grocery store; the store didn’t have a liquor section. A weird thing to notice for someone who doesn’t drink alcohol, but until then, grocery stores always had big displays for alcohol. The biggest New Year’s ever, had only been 3 days prior! Prince’s song, “1999” was forever going to be about the past! Where were the displays? What was this strange new place I’d moved to? What was I going to discover next, stores closed on Sunday? Were there some weird laws in place to “make” people obey?
According to a recent poll, 70 percent of Texas residents say that they are proud of their state and rank it among the best places to live. One of the most striking features about the poll was that the residents of the Lone Star State ranked their trust in local and state government significantly higher than 88 percent of residents in all other states (Aasen, 20014). The Texas legislature is so efficient in its tasks that it meets less than any other legislature in the United States. Coming from a Southeastern state, this trust in government is a concept that is quite unfamiliar to me.
Utah is the 45th state to be a part of the United States on January 4, 1896. Home of the famous Mormon Temple and Mormon Tabernacle, Temple Square is a massive tourist attraction in Utah bringing up to three to five million people every year. And when it comes to Utah Constitution, it resemble the Federal Constitution.
When we finally made it into Kansas, I felt joyous instead of dismal because I missed the familiar buildings and roads there. No place is like home, I finally learned that. We kept on heading back to Gardner and when we finally did, I went over to a friend's house and we hung out and had fun and ran around. Then when I got home from my friend’s house, I started packing up my room. Then a week later I moved to Shawnee. That was my trip to
My alarm went off at 4:45a.m. As soon as I heard it, I knew I had a long day ahead of me. My parents started screaming and telling everyone to get in the car. My mom, dad, two brothers (Nico and Adrian), grandfather, and I all put our luggages in the car and got seated. At 5:00 a.m. we were out the door and on the road for a 10 hour drive to Seaside, Florida.
The time away from your family is very difficult. Military life is very hard sometimes it requires long hours, and you could find yourself in dangerous places around the world.
In my life, I have had to say goodbye to my father, and have him absent from my life for over three years. Three whole years in which communication was limited and assurance of safety was not a thing. During these times I was faced with all the negatives of the military life, and personally felt that the military was taking my father away from me. However, as I repeatedly saw my father grin coming home from deployment, I could tell that he was not being used or just a pawn in the game. My father loved what he did and when he is home, my family has always lived life to the fullest. My father always recollects his grand memories of the military and cannot thank the military enough for all the benefits and opportunities he has been given. I personally
The day I moved away, a lot of things were going through my young mind. As I took my last look at my home, I remembered all the fun times I had with my family and friends through out my
In the morning our mom told us we were going to sell the house and possibly move to a little town named Geneseo. I’ve only been there once, to get gas on the way to our grandma and grandpa’s. The news was surprising and made me a little upset. I’d have to leave my friends I’ve grown up with.
The next day we wanted to head out early so we could make it to Colorado and have time to see some sites and visit my aunt and uncle. After we said thanks for letting us stay with my Aunt Alks and Uncle Pinakin's house, we were on our way. I wasn't really looking forward to the drive ahead because I remember how long it was the first time I had to make the trip, and it gets uncomfortable. The only thing I like when we go to Colorado is that we lose an hour. This was probably the most boring trip on our journey because most of the land we traveled was in Nebraska and it was flat and plain. There was nothing really significant about this trip until we got to Colorado. Flat land changed into mountains and country turned into city. That part of it was really interesting because it was like we could see the invisible line separating Colorado and Nebraska. It took us a little while to find my aunt in Golden, Colorado because the directions were a little hard to follow. I guess no one wanted to see anything because almost as soon as we were
