The Importance Of Language In My Life

When we interact with someone for the first time, read our favorite novel, and even take a trip outside of our hometown our language was impacted at some point. Language is a tool that has shaped my own character and made me the young lady that I am today. Language allows us to negotiate. Without language, society would not be able to function because there is no communication. We cannot learn properly because it hinders our well-being that enables us to evoke feelings and thoughts. Even though language has made an impact in my life through interacting with individuals on an interpersonal level, it has improved my reading and writing abilities because of two major events in my life.
The aspect of language has allowed me to adapt to others and develop strong relationships. I had the privilege to attend a mission trip to Esopus, New York in my junior year of high school because of Marist Youth. Marist Youth is a Catholic ministry movement group inspired by Saint Marcellin Champagnat to expand faith and leadership for students. The purpose of this trip was to attend an annual LaValla event that promotes community service, spiritual bonding, and connecting with individuals in the Marist community. Students from Marist New York, New Jersey, Miami, Barcelona, and my own hometown Chicago came for one common goal which was to give back to the community. The language and dialect that was spoken differently was something that separated us especially students from Barcelona. One
