Recently, there has been a substantial amount of debate on whether there should be gun control. The United States should not create more gun control because it restricts the right to self-defense but it will not prevent criminals from obtaining guns and breaking laws the Second Amendment of the constitution defends individual gun ownership. Likewise, the Second Amendment of the constitution defends individual gun ownership. In contrast, some conclude gun control laws will decrease suicide and murder rates; however, this is not the case.
The Second Amendment protects the American people the right to own a gun whether or not one is in the military. In the Constitution, it states that “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed” (Strasser). Many people pick apart the second amendment saying it is only talking about the militia but, in 2008 the Supreme Court ruled that the amendment “protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that use the arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home” ( US Supreme Court). The second amendment makes it possible for those who are not in the military to carry a gun. Similarly, the Supreme Court decided during the Mcdonald Vs. City of Chicago case that the second amendment was an individual right (“Gun Control”). The case further explained that gun ownership is an individual right. Gun ownership has been an American tradition even
The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution protects the right of the people to possess armaments for their own defense—this is one of the biggest conservative ideology arguments that the anti-gun control side stands by. In addition, banning handguns prevents people from an effective means of
When I think of a gun that looks amazing usually has a nice blue finish to the metal. That is not the only type of finish there is, but what is the reason behind finishing. When I thought about it before the only thought that came to mind is, to help protect the gun along with the price of the gun would go up. Everyone is looking to make a dollar somehow. If not only with a time but also with skills. I think that’s about all we all could give.
The gun control debate has grown more heated than ever after the February 14th school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. The question on everyone’s minds is, does America still need the second amendment? The answer may be yes, but it needs to be more restrictive than it is now. For example, one can buy an assault rifle when they are 18 but cannot drink or buy a handgun until they are 21 years old. Why can someone be able to buy an AR-15 when they are considered not mentally ready to consume alcohol? Why are ordinary citizens allowed to buy an assault rifle at all? Gun control should be more restrictive because studies have proven that America is far more prone to gun violence, which is most likely caused by Americans having an excess of firearms. However, the background check is not necessary.
The United States Gun laws need to be actively strengthened to protect and prevent harm against citizens by creating more thorough background checks, mental health checks, and more licenses specifically for different types of assault weapons. Several mass shootings have been caused by legally purchased guns caused by background checks without intensive research. With stricter gun laws harm and massive tragedies would be prevented or have more protection and safety. New laws and mandates would change the environment of gun safety and protection.
- For decades gun control has always been a very controversial issue in America. The Second Amendment states it is an individual's right to bare arms and by having stronger laws on guns, that would only be taking their right away, However, we have seen violent crimes rise due to guns, we have seen many people lose their lives and get hurt. Americans should be for gun control because it can help prevent school shootings, stronger regulations can help stop gun loopholes, and stronger laws can make it harder for people that have a bad record to get a gun. With the enormous amount of violence in today's society, individuals need to take a stand demanding stricter regulations on guns.
Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the United States yet in 2016 there were 762 gun related homicides, 3,550 shooting incidents, and 4,331 shooting victims. Despite strict gun laws Chicago had one of the deadliest years in history, so are the laws really working? Strict gun control does not mean that the amount of gun related crime will decrease. So, what is the point in making strict gun control laws?
Gun regulation has been a controversial topic since they were first established as a weapon. People for and against gun regulation provide strong arguments for their side. Gun regulation has fluctuated over time due to changes in office. Being a democracy prevents us from having consistency. As a nation we continue to change regulations on guns because of the different views our democracy allows us to have. The main aspects pose the most problems in gun control are violence, illegal sale of guns, and mental health checks.
Many would agree that there is a distressing amount of violence in America. Violence takes place in many forms, in different severities, and in many places. In an effort to continually make our society more civilized, ways to stop these violent acts from occurring are always being contemplated. There are many ways to approach the epidemic in America, but one that has increasing popularity is applying more strict gun control laws. Strict gun laws are viewed by many to be a step in the right direction, but they are actually a potential danger to the citizens of the United States.
We all want to live safe and secure, and to be able to live without fear. This is one of the human rights that should be protected by diplomats, congressmen, senators, presidents, and ect. However, there is many people that will give that up just to fulfill their desires for shooting. On the other hand, you have the NRA making it very easy for anyone to get there hands on a gun just to fill their banks. There is many horrible side effects to this being manifested to society. We live in a time where so many people have easy access to guns. There has never been more school shootings, mass murders, terrorist attacks, and ect. In this essay I am going to talk about the school shootings, NRA, and the NRA Ads. Those are the three most
The shootings that has happened throughout the Unites States has created a great divide among Americans on what should our nation do to prevent further shootings from happening. Many people believe that forcing new laws on how people purchase weapons should require background checks. Gun Control in the United States of America is a topic that has had lots of criticism and support by many citizens. The critical people of this topic believe that the guns do not kill people, it is the people that kill people. The supporters of this topic believe that guns lead to violence and a feeling of power over others. They also believe that if guns were eliminated from the public, then violence and death would decrease heavily in this country. These two opposing views leave the federal government open to a decision on whether or not to abolish one of our Constitutional rights, or to keep allowing people the right to own a gun. There are many issues that need to be looked at in order to decide which laws are necessary.
However, owning guns has led to several shootings across the United States. Guns are too easily available and need to be monitored more often because of how they are accessed and how easy they are to purchase. Stricter gun control laws will help the situation become less violent and diminish School shootings.
Gun violence is the common issue in the United States that is kept growing. As an American people have right to own a gun for safety and protection reason but many people take advantage of it. The right to own the gun allows many dangerous people to harm other peoples through the deadly weapon. The rate of shooting death is rapidly increasing in past few decades. The legislative branch needs to adopt stronger gun laws to reduce shooting deaths without the violation of the Constitution.
gun control is one of the most controversial topics of today. both sides, for or against it, have their reasons as to why they believe in what they do. gun control is such a major topic that many families disagree, resulting in major conflict. either way, gun control is an important and necessary step we must take in order to improve the society we live in today because the united states has the highest mass shooting rates, there would be less gun-related deaths, and guns are dangerous especially if every person owns multiple weapons.
Some people believe that it is our right to own a gun because of the Second Amendment, while other people believe that owning a gun is harmful to the society. There should be no new gun control laws. The Second Amendment states, “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms.” The controversy with guns in this country is that all they are is dangerous, but there is so much more to them. For example there is bullseye shooting, which is only shooting at targets, and no one gets hurt. There is so many good reasons on why you should be able to have a gun so the US shouldn’t make new laws.
As quoted by Bob barr “It's not a gun control problem; it's a cultural control problem”. Our kids shouldn’t have to be worried about their safety in school and having to worry about school shootings. Things need to be fixed its time to pass stricter gun control laws. There has been school 18 shootings since January 1, 2018 that is about 3 per week so far just for this year. Something has to be done we need strict gun control.
