As a parent one of the key functions in your child’s life is to raise them in a healthy manner as possible. (Bornstein, 1995). All children are unique in their own way; children are unique in the way that they think and the way understand the importance behind their decisions, behaviors and the consequences that come with misbehavior. There are three effective steps that can be used to ensure the most effective outcome of positive parenting. The first step is to make sure, you establish clear set rules and let the child know that these rules are unbreakable and have consequences if these rules are not followed. The second step is to make sure that child understands logic behind the consequence accordantly to their behavior. Lastly be consistent, children respond better if parent(s) stay consistent. Always remember that children resilient and reciprocate better when they feel they are loved and needed.

The first 5 years of a child’s life is the most important aspect to the development of the child’s behavior. Studies show that there are two main factors to effective parenting are support and control (Roskam & Schelstraete, 2007). Children watch and learn from what they see their parents and others do and often emulate what they have seen and heard done by parents and other adults (Sheffield Morris, Silk & Steinburg, 2007).
