Having served in the military for over twenty years had giving me many competencies that I am able to use in everyday business. The military gave me the work ethics, teach me how to be responsibility and the sustainability to deal with problems. I believe that I measure up at a high level by comparing the competencies in the book and my own skills. The competencies which are a collection of knowledge, skills and attitudes that allow employees to be successful at numerous of comparable tasks are also used to distinguish between high and low performer’s employees. If a manager is not responsible the subordinates will not listen at the established company rules. The manager needs to lead by example, if he or she wants to get his employees respect.
I am very persistent. Once I set my mind to something, I strive for it until I achieve it or it has proved impossible for me to obtain my goal. It was once my goal to join the Army. Although I was overweight, I worked until I made the correct weight limit and kept trying to join until they told me I couldn't join because I had eczema as a child. I believe that I should always try my hardest and do my best as much as possible in every situation.
“Competency models describe the behaviors and skills managers need to exhibit if an organization is to be successful” (Hughes, Ginnett, & Curphy, p. 252). In many organizations, competency models can differ between the different hierarchies of managers. As a person’s leadership role evolves so do the behaviors and skills he or she must possess to be an effective leader. This statement holds firm as with the case of Andra Rush.
Over the years, the relationships between army leadership and a business management have been throughout to be compatible in the organization framework. Yet, it is not always that these two style of command control is not similar in some aspect, but an army leader with an organization district manager are two different leaders. In other words, leadership and management might have subordinates under them, but they will have different meaning. In this paper, my purpose is to do an assessment of leadership and management, as well as demonstrate the similarities and differences in the application it is used. To begin the similarly of leadership and management is important to know the definition of the two. There are many principles of leadership and management, but three of the most important principles are the trait method, the skills method, and the situation awareness method principles. This paper will compare these methods, from the basic, and to what is required to fully understand them and know the contrasting of each method. Looking at the three method, the two that could be comparable are the traits and skills method. However, they are different and some aspect that can be significant.
Serving the United States Military comes with many responsibilities as well as pressure and accountability. However, the military isn’t for everyone, but it offers so much for those who serve. One thing that must be known and dealt with is that this career could be a life threatening one, and there are many obstacles one must go through beforehand.
The most hardworking people are usually the least recognized. They are generally the least paid as well. There must be some sort of incentive for them to continually work so hard. The United States Army has been the underdogs of the military branch. The United States Army is probably the hardest working branch of the military, but also the least sought after. To the general public they are not considered to be at the top of the spectrum amongst the other branches of military. The government has helped in creating a bias within the branches of military by making the standards to get into the military so low compared to some of the other branches. The Army should be considered the “People’s Army.”
True soldiers of hope do not do what they do for glory, fame, or to be superior over others, they do what they do because of the love in their heart and soul and for the greater good of mankind. Any real soldier can tell you this awe inspiring statement, as it is a reflection of their motivation, the element which compels them to push on and do what they are called on to do. More so, this motivation retains to members of the Army National Guard, citizen-soldiers who can, at any instance, put all aspects of their lives on hold in order to serve for the greater good of their country. And while it is true that people who join the National Guard gain access to substantial military and educational
There are a lot of graduates fresh out of high schools that make the decision to use the military. There are some people that join the military because that is a fast and easy choice for them. The military gives everyone a wide variety of options. College for instance, the military allows you to serve your country and still have time to attend college and get a degree if you choose to do that. People that choose to join the military get the option to go to college anytime they feel during their military career. The military pays for part or all the tuition. The military has four different branches, Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marines. Each branch offers different trades. Air Force for example, teaches people to fly, have mechanical skills,
“So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, and beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide. (Tecumseh, 1813).
No matter what branch of the military an individual decides to join, the one thing that is for sure is the individual learns to live by a specific code, usually specified by the branch of service. According to Ford et. al, the number one reason that youth decide to join the military is because of propensity or a natural tendency to behave in a certain way (Ford, Gibson, Griepentrog, & Marsh, 2014). Although, this is not the only reason for individuals, other reasons individuals decide to serve their country can be economical, adventure, college opportunities, or even a family tradition.
I have always had the upmost respect for veterans and thought very highly of them. Ever since I was a boy it has been my dream to become a soldier. My uncle was a veteran and I heard many stories about Vietnam and it just made me want to become a soldier. My uncle was in the Marine Corps and every time he told me a story it made me want to join. Now at the age of seventeen years old I am ready to enlist into the Marines. It is a big leap in my life that I would never have the opportunity to take if it wasn’t for one life changing moment of my life.
Every person lives their life like no other. Most people just think of themselves, and never think about how other feel and wanting to know their life history. Why would anyone want to know someone else life history, you ask? Veterans are all around us and go through so much before, during, and after the serve the military. One person I myself never asked about his experience until now was my brother-in-law Francisco Navarro. I still remember the day he left to basic training and come back on certain holidays to visit the family. Finally, the day came and I had to interview him for a project. Yes, never crossed my mind to ask him about the military experience; I didn’t know how too. To me, asking a veteran about their military experience would bring horrible and tragic memories to themselves. I was wrong, it made Francisco think about some good old times and some bad ones too, in the military.
I do belive serving this country is an important thing . There is no way anybody in the United States of America could ask for a better military but what are we fighting for ?. In the first paragraph it states " adults between the ages of 18 and 30 should be required to complete one year of national service " and I disagree strongly. Not so much about having everyone serve a year, it's more about the conflicts america has with other countries when we have war happening on our very own soil.
Kai is a normal employee at the Toyota company. He earns a fair amount of money but he wishes he could earn more. A few years back he used to work at America’s worst jail. He knows how jails are built ,and ways to get in and out.
Serving in the Military for 17 years, it has taught me many skills to be successful in life and when attending online schools or traditional learning in classroom environments. Of those skills are leadership, organization, reasoning, problem solving, oral communications, planning, and adaptive skills. Some of these skills I try to use during school such as organization, planning, and being adaptive. These skills are what I would say that I bring to the program and that they will continue to help me throughout my academic journey. Being able to be organized is key to ensuring that our coursework flows smoothly along with our everyday life styles. If we are unorganized then it can become very chaotic and unproductive to completing school work
Serving the military is an incredibly dangerous job these are some reasons to explain why the military is dangerous, it's also a very good experience. For instance, it could be very dangerous ,yet a good experience. The military is a good place ,but it's also dangerous ,especially the warden all the training puts stress on your physical and mental state, but he’s only doing it to prepare you for the noble sacrifice that could possibly end your life or not , he’s actually proud of the men or women that he's trained.war is a really scary thing ,especially if you have flashbacks that make you freak out that's one of the things that is why younger people shouldn’t serve at such a young age.
