The US Department of Labor estimates that approximately 15.5 million people work in the hospitality industry, one that generates around 500 billion dollars a year. The industry is full of talent but the industry is competitive. With many big names like Marriott, Hilton, IHG and Hyatt (all on the Top 100 Companies to Work For list) vying for the best talent, hospitality companies must offer not only good salaries but other benefits to attract talent. Hyatt’s services vary and include development, ownership, management, franchising and licensing, and timeshare. Hyatt’s self-proclaimed purpose is to care for people so they can be their best. The company applies this philosophy, not only to its guests, but its employees as well, which are referred to as the Hyatt family. Leadership
When I spoke to Gary Schmelling, he told me that the motto of Hyatt Resorts is “The difference between a mere place to relax and a magnificent experience.”

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company operates within the upscale & luxury hotel industry. While it could be argued that Ritz-Carlton operates in the more broad and inclusive lodging industry, they offer a highly differentiated product and service and therefore find themselves operating in an exclusive industry alongside very few direct competitors, such as Four Seasons Hotels, HongKong and Shanghai Hotels, and Starwood Hotels & Resorts. Therefore when analyzing this industry I will not be including cheap hotels, motels, lodges, or inns, unless to offer potential substitutes to luxury hotels. With this said, one of my goals is to be employed by the Aria. Although, knowing how competitive this industry can be, I would
