Throughout the world there are many different countries that contain diverse cultures, religions, and life styles. There is however certain aspects within these countries and cultures that acts as a common ground between one another. One dominant aspect is the existence of dogs within these cultures. Dogs are common throughout the world, either as a domestic pet, a protector on a farm, or an assistant for hunting; amongst others. Regardless of the reason for having a dog most people have either owned one for themselves or has known somebody who has owned one at some point in their life. Despite the relative normality of having a dog in your life in one way or another, the reasons

Before a detailed description of how dogs evolved from wolves can be made, an understanding of the process of evolution must first be acquired. The evolutionary process means in basic terms that only the best survive. Animals and plants with better qualities have a better chance of survival; therefore the qualities that allowed them to survive can then be passed on to their offspring. Slowly this plant or animal begins to become different from its ancestors and eventually will become a different species entirely. This form of evolution is known as natural selection (Harris 3). This means that it is the plant or animals natural habitat that is in control of their survival. Another similar but notably different scenario can also take place. This is known as artificial selection. Artificial selection is similar to natural selection in the sense that only the best will live long enough or be able to have offspring and be able to pass on their personnel qualities. The difference is that instead of a natural environment being in control of this, it is instead humans who are in control. Humans pick which individual plant or animal they feel has favorable qualities and will only breed those particular individuals, so over time those qualities are passed on from generation to generation and eventually will become a new species much like the phenomenon that occurs in natural selection
Dogs are what their owners make of them, they are shere products of their environments and feed off of how their owners treat them. For example, in America pit bulls, over the years have been portrayed as harmful or aggressive. These views have lead to manying uncompassionate acts towards this lost breed. Such as, selling the dogs for drugs to people who could care less about them to forcing pitbulls in harmful dog fights. In America’s society today some often view pitbulls as just a way of breeding dogs. This means that they essentially are not taking part in what it actually means to have a pet. People are suppose to provide, feed, care, and love their dogs and in some cases that’s not their important objective. The underlying issue that
Man’s best friend: you would think that that title would conjure up images of humans, or even our closest cousins in the animal kingdom, such as monkeys, apes, and chimpanzees. However, the first image that enters most humans head is the same image that would have induced fear hundreds of years ago, the not so distant heir to the wolf: dogs. The same creatures that we feuded with for survival now take up a huge part of our lives and make up a large portion of the images littering the internet. Dogs take part in everything from movies to family gatherings, to search and rescue and emotional or physical service. Nearly fifty percent of American households alone have at least one dog, and between all of us we own 83.3 million dogs, a number not to be trifled with. The place our four-legged canine companions claim is undisputed and easily backed up.
For millions of years dogs have remained a constant companion of man. Bred from the aggressive and formidable Gray Wolf tens of thousands of years ago the domestic dog now lives in many homes across the world. Where in the far distant past the domestic dog was bred as a guard animal, a beast of burden, and even a food source the dogs of today are bred for a far more endearing purpose-companionship and love. Finding a pet dog that is more of a joy than a chore is necessary when asking: How much is that puppy in the window?

Introduction: I. Many people in our community own or have owned a dog in the past. II. Most people enjoy being around a well behaved dog, rather than around a hound who does not know boundaries, but how do they do it? III. I own an eighty-pound boxer
It was a cool winter evening at my house in Leedey Oklahoma. I was so excited to get home because we got to open an early Christmas present. We got home then went into the livingroom to find a box in the middle of the room. We all gathered around the box then she said we could open it. I reached down and opened it to find the most adorable little black and white puppy sleeping in the box. It was love at first sight.
From the small South Asian wolf to the large Newfoundland of North Eastern Canada, dogs have been man’s best friend for approximately 10,000 years (“Domestic Dogs”, National Geographic). As man has evolved and changed, so has their canine companion. About 340 dog breeds have been recognized by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale, the world governing of dog breeds (Malina, “The Incredible Explosion of Dog Breeds”). However, man has not treated all of these breeds as their best friend, sometimes going so far as to abuse dogs simply because of their specific breed, such as, the pit bull which is actually an umbrella term used for dogs like the American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Bull Terrier, and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Due to their history of participating in bull baiting and ratting, where the dogs were bred to attack, people have labeled them as aggressive dogs and believe that no matter the dog, it will be dangerous simply because of its breed.
The cattle industry in the past as well as today would be nothing without the help of man's best friend. Herding dogs are the best known working dogs. These unique dogs have an instinct to herd and with the right training will help a farmer or rancher move his herd without any trouble, as long as the dog is responsive to the ranchers hand signals and whistles. The best way to train a dog is to have it work along side an already experienced dog. They are keen, alert, responsive, and extremely intelligent. Numerous dogs have evolved into just show dogs or pets, but there are a few that are still used on farms and ranches.
The grey wolf has been transformed into what we, today, call a dog. After years of traveling with humans, the wolf began to change and became adapted and tame enough to socialize with humans. The environment it was placed into was one of the causes for change, and another was the role it played for humans.
Historically dogs have served many purposes for humans. They have been used for hunting rodents, disposing of pesky rodents, fighting wars, protecting people as well as valuables, and tending to livestock (Staats et al, 2008). In today’s American society, dogs have become a first option to serve as companions and new additions to families. However, that is not the only purpose that canines serve. Dogs can also be of assistance to people with disabilities, military and police services, and therapeutic practices as well as a companion. To accommodate to the growing demand for pet or service dogs, it has become increasingly easier to buy or adopt them. There are now many options of how to obtain a dog. There are options such as breeders, Petland,
Did you know that there is about 70-80 million dogs as pets in the U.S alone almost 50% of all homes have a dog in them as a pet. Many different people like different kinds of dog short, tall, hairy and many more. But most people choose a dog based on something more crucial, such as breed, personality traits, and color.
Some people may believe that having a dog doesn't have any benefits because they believe that they are hard to take care of and they are “Just an animal”.Though it is true that dogs can be difficult to take care of and are expensive, they are not “just an animal”. Think about human infants, They are expensive and hard to take care of. They take a lot of preparation and love just like a dog. But we don’t call human babies “Just animals”, do we? No we don’t. Our dogs are our fur babies and they need just as much care as a
Introduction: Today I will persuading my audience the benefits of getting a dog as a pet. Dogs can offer companionship, protection and even improve your health. Sixty eight percent of U.S households own a pet according to the 2017-2018 National Pet Owners Survey calculated by American Pet Products Association (APPA), and majority of the pets owned are dogs, weighing in at sixty percent. Dogs are domesticated animals that consist of various breeds such as Yorkie Terriers, German shepherds and more. There are over three hundred breeds according to the World Canine organization. This organization is the largest registry of certified dog breeds. This canine organization recognizes three hundred and thirty nine breeds of dogs which are classified into ten groups based on the dog’s function or size. There are various unique breeds that can fit into one’s specific lifestyle, giving no excuse not to have a dog to compliment ones personality.
Some are due to personal reason or past bad experience, but for others, it has much to do with culture and the symbolism dogs are known for. For example, traditionally, dogs have been impure, and the Islamic legal tradition has developed several injunctions that warn Muslims against most contact with dogs (Dogs in Islam). Although it is quite odd that the sacred text of the Islamic religion, the Qur’an, says that it views all animals form communities “like you” meanwhile it mentions that they are so horribly dirty (Dogs in Islam). The intensity of punishment is so fierce in predominantly Islamic countries that one may be arrested for owning a dog (Communicaid).Others, such as the Chinese culture, have domesticated dogs for more than 7,000 and are closely related to agriculture and daily life in ancient China (ALONG). The original main purpose for dogs in china were either to send as a gift, or to have as a watch or hunting dog (ALONG). They have been a part of Chinese history for as far back as one can
The domestic dog has to be one of the most unique animals that the human had ever bred. All dogs were formed differently and for separate reasons; whether it be for their looks or for their personal attributes, the dog has been evolved around humans and yet many breeds were created by humans themselves. I also believe that having a dog is a necessity to having a balanced life, just how Cesar Millan was quoted on the Brainy Quote web page “The dog can only become what's in your bubble. The dog is imitating the energy that is in your bubble. You are the source, the feast of energy. If you feel anxious, the dog becomes anxious with you. If you become nervous, the dog wakes up nervous with you”. Your dog runs off of your actions and emotions
