Al Qaeda started out with three members and grew over the years, becoming one of the most widely known terrorist organizations in the world. Al Qaeda was founded in 1988 by Abdullah Azzam, Ayman al-Zawahiri and Osama bin Laden, who later became the most wanted terrorist in America. Abdullah had a position as a lecturer at King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah, where he most likely met Bi Laden who was enrolled there as a student. As bin Laden’s teacher and mentor Azzam influenced and helped Bin Laden start the Al Qaeda organization in 1988. Ayman al-Zawahiri later joined to two and is currently the leader of Al Qaeda. . The organization started out in Pakistan and Afghanistan and later spread across five different continents. Over the years
The creator of this group was Osama Bin Laden. The U.S. and Osama Bin Laden had different opinions on who had more power and a better religion (Cassidy Frieling). The main reason on why Al-Qaeda did this attack was because of disapproval of America’s relationship with Israel (Olivia Pelaez). The reason behind this is because Israel and the United States are the closest because the U.S. supports them with military and financial assistance (Kyrie Dozer). Also, they wanted America to be the same religion as them which is Islamic (Kyrie Dozer). To sum it up, the reason why Al-Qaeda attacked the U.S. was because our relationship with Israel and our different viewpoints of
Al Qaeda was founded in 1988 by the most wanted terrorist in America, Osama Bin Laden, to bring together Arabs who fought in Afghanistan against the Soviet Invasion. Al Qaeda works with allied Islamic extremist groups to take over regimes it deems "non-Islamic" and remove Westerners from Muslin countries. The organization first began with three members and now there are approximately 200 to 1,000 current members. Al-Qaeda began to construct and offer training camps and guesthouses to its recruits; while they also attempted to pull in U.S. citizens for financial, communication, and operation reasons for the benefit of Al-Qaeda and its other affiliations. By 1990 Al-Qaeda was providing military and intelligence training in various areas including Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the Sudan.
In 1980, Muslims around the world voyaged to a jihad opposed to the soviet union and after the defeat of the soviet union; Bin Laden and associates of al Qaeda started to assemble jihads elsewhere. Al Qaeda developed many features since it’s beginning. For example, they raised money illegally to fund the attack, transported minions across the world for attacks, created moles inside powerful administrations that could oversea their operations, they
Al Qaeda or Al Qaida is an Islamic jihadist organization which calls itself as an Islamic resistance movement around the world, while it is always marked as a network international terrorist. Its founder, leader
Osama bin Laden founded al-Qaeda in 1988 with the goal to rid Muslims countries of western influences and replace their governments with Islamic regimes. Born in an extraordinarily wealthy family, Osama bin Laden used his family’s money to found the terroristic organization. Abdullah Yusus Azzam was an influential Palestinian Sunni Islamic scholar who mentored bin Laden and persuaded him to come to Afghanistan. The main goals of al-Qaeda are to: spread Islam through the world with or without the consent of the occupants, destroy Israel and it’s affiliates, terrorize the United States of America, financially bleed the United States, and fight to defend the rights of Muslims. The organization’s numerous attacks against the United States, and all of humanity (except the Muslims) have changed the world’s perception of terrorism. There are numerous religious affiliates of al-Qaeda, some of which include, Sunni Islamism, Takfirism, and Qutbism. There are very few supporters of al-Qaeda’s beliefs and actions. Osama bin Laden issued a fatwa, a ruling point of Islamic law given by a recognized authority, which eventually amounted to a public declaration of war against the United States and its allies. There is a tremendous amount of confusion about the connections between the Taliban and al-Qaeda. Although the two have ties, they are completely separate and distinct groups who have different goals. Starting in the late 1980s, an international terrorist network, al Qaeda, changed the
roots go back to the late seventies when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan. The word al-Qaida (the base) was first used by its founder Osama Bin Laden and his first-line Lieutenants in 1988. The word was a reference to the records that contained information about the members who joined jihads in Afghanistan from all around the world. It was not until 1989 that this word took on meaning for jihad groups in Afghanistan or elsewhere. Burke argues that it was unclear if Bin Laden and his group even called themselves al-Qaeda during this era.
In the years of 1993-2001 President Bill Clinton was the President of the United States of America. During this time a reign of terror was inflicted upon the US by a terrorist organization called Al Qaeda. Throughout this paper I will discuss the missed opportunities to bring down Al Qaeda.
Although bin Laden was an inspirational leader, Al Qaeda is a religious, separatist organization whose ideology resonates within a wide group of people in the Middle East. Bin Laden’s spiritual teachings brought in members, but he was not their prime-recruiting tool. If Al Qaeda had revolved entirely around bin Laden’s personal logic and ideals it would have collapsed with him, but because of their broad ideology Al Qaeda, has been able to stay strong.
To some, he is the most hated and most hateful man in the world, and at one point was the most wanted criminal on the face of the planet. Osama bin Laden, in 1988, founded an Islamist network called al-Qaeda; the foundation built from his faith in God. This network would soon become a feared terrorist group from different countries across the globe. Bin Laden built his network with intentions of harming others that did not share his beliefs. Among his methods were: armed terrorism, suicide bombings, and alleged financial manipulation as the world has seen through attacks throughout history. The fear of al-Qaeda’s ability to use chemical terrorism was prominent with the rise of Islamic extremism. Al-Qaeda, throughout time, combines
Al-Qaeda, or “the Base” in Arabic, is an arrangement of extremists initially organized by Osama Bin Laden. Al-Qaeda originated throughout the uprising against the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. Thousands of volunteers from around the Middle East came to Afghanistan as mujahideen, warriors fighting to defend fellow Muslims. Bin Laden returned to his native Saudi Arabia after the Soviets withdrew from Afghanistan and founded an organization to help veterans of the Afghan war, thus creating the basis of al-Qaeda. The death of Bin Laden, who was killed in a joint operation by US troops and CI operatives in May 2011, complicated the future of al-Qaeda. Some speculated that the group might seek retaliation, while others wondered if they would wallow without their supreme leader. More than a month after bin Laden’s death, al-Qaeda named Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri as their new leader. Following bin Laden’s death another powerful top ranking al-Qaeda leader, Fazul Abdullah Mohammed, was killed in June. Fazul Abdullah Mohammed was the leader of al-Qaeda in East Africa and was responsible for the organized US embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania in August 1998.
The word “ terrorism” is used a lot in the world nowadays. The definition of a terrorist is someone who uses intentionally indiscriminate violence as a means to create terror or fear, in order to achieve a political, religious, or ideological aim. Some example of what we have establish as terror attacks are the Twin Towers in New York on the 11 of september 2001 or the Paris attack on november the 13 2015. The attacks were done by two different groups of terrorists, but what people tend to ignore is that these terrorist groups did not come to life from the unknown. What people tend to ignore or maybe just don’t understand or don’t know is that in this case, Al Qaeda was a creation of the United States of America, a country which was colossally

The story begins in 1979 when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan to defend a puppet dictator against rebels. Many men from the Middle East traveled to fight alongside the rebels as they see it as a religious battle. Among these rebels were Osama bin-Laden and Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi. After the Soviet withdrawal in 1989, the rebels went home, at this time Osama bin-Laden forms Al-Qaeda while Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi forms his own group. Bin-Laden grew Al-Qaeda to be a global force while Zarqawi’s organization dwindled. They later returned to Afghanistan which was under Taliban control around 1996. On September 11, 2001, Al-Qaeda attacked the United States from its base in Afghanistan. The United States then invaded Afghanistan and Bin-Laden fled
The Taliban founded in the year of 1994 by a man named Mullah Mohammad Omar. It originated in Afghanistan and was created with the purpose of destroying the foreign military in Afghanistan and to reestablish the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan under strict Sharia Law ("Taliban Narrative"). The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan would then be brought back into play in the year of 1996. However, the event that led to the creation of the Taliban happened almost a decade earlier in the year of 1979. In 1979 the Soviets began invading Afghanistan, they were there for about ten years and then withdrew late in the year of 1988 and early 1989. Mujahedeen forces then removed the soviet government in the year of 1992 and led to rivalry between groups. A year
