The Greatest Threat Of The Middle East

The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, also known as Isis, terror group has been an important issue in the United States for the past couple of years. After the recall of troops from Iraq, radical Islamist movements started to begin and Isis was formed. The first issue of Isis is they have grown in numbers over the years. Secondly, Isis controls thousands of square miles of ungoverned territory. Their high supply of troops and land allows them to creatively think of major attacks, including attacks on the U.S. Lastly, when people see the attacks from Isis, some people naturally gravitate towards these groups. Two months after 9/11 attacks Osama Bin Laden said “When people see a strong horse and a weak horse, by nature, they will like the strong horse.” Isis will continue to grow in power if countries do not come together to help totally eliminate them.

Isis has 30,000 fighters( “Isis trail of terror”). February 2015, Isis had 20,00 more foreign fighters who had come to help( “Isis trail of terror”). Not including 150 from the United State. Isis is spreading into Syria, Iraq, and towards Baghdad tormenting the sick, and killing people till they decide to join their side ( “Isis trail of terror”).Obama said, “ Let's be clear about Isis, they have rampaged across cities beheading people in cowardly acts of violence.”( “Isis trail of terror”). Isis is growing bigger and bigger each second, and only we can stop it.

The United States, with its coalition partners, has committed to degrade and destroy the terrorist group known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). This group poses a threat to the people of the Middle East, as well as to the United States, our allies, and interests in the region. If this terrorist organization is left uninterrupted, ISIL will grow, threatening the surrounding areas of the Middle East, our allies abroad, and the United States.

Throughout history, barbaristic groups or armies, have threatened the world and specifically the United States. In WW2, you normally think of the brutality of the Nazis. However, the United States main worry was the Japanese military. The US was appalled by the barbarous demeanor of the Japanese. Nearly 71 years later, the US is alarmed at the cruelty of the self-proclaimed Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Although their motivated by different things, in both ISIS and Japanese codes of conduct, there is no room for mercy, cruelty is their code.

Terrorists, whether they are identified as Al-Qaida or ISIL, do not represent any certain country, nor do they wear uniforms in order to be identified. Members camouflage themselves into civilian populations and carry out their turmoil and atrocities, hiding within cultures, rarely being discovered, let alone punished. If America wants to win the war against terror, we need to determine who the terrorists are and punish them.

ISIS has been a rapidly increasing threat to not just the United States of America, but the entire world. ISIS has done countless brutal, sick, heart wrenching things that have caused a national and international uproar in the citizens of numerous countries. ISIS considers them the Islamic State, and they seem to have many motives. They basically want a large portion of the Middle east under ISIS control and for the rest of the world to accept their disgusting “traditions” as they claim they are doing, This threat has done some very unspeakable things; the problem needs to be solved. Considering the view the United State holds right now, there are a few actions that can be taken to reduce this threat that ISIS presents. ISIS has rapidly become an enormous problem for most of, if not all of the world. There are some very simple and some very complicated ways to solves this problem. The most efficient way is to simple go to war with ISIS and physically, mentally and emotionally destroy everything and everyone that is supporting this cause, another way is to give them what they desire to have, finally the last option is just completely ignore the foreign issue until it presents itself on U.S. soil. After an online video emerged on Tuesday, January 21st, 2015, showing ISIS threatening to kill two Japanese hostages, relatively little was known about the relationship between the two prisoners. Who is ISIS? They are a Sunni terrorist group that originates from the also Sunni terrorist group, al Qaeda, but specifically the Iraq faction, al Qaeda in Iraq. They are specifically a Sunni version of Islam called Salafism, which means Pious forefathers. The forefathers are the prophet himself and the earliest adherents. The individuals who are part of this group look to these forefathers as examples in behavior and everything else. They desire to follow their actions and lifestyles exactly. The original leader of this group was killed and a new leader rose to power, Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi, who was an experienced fighter. They lost their power in the Sunni Awakening in 2007, and then found a chance to regain power in Syria in 2011. By

They take drastic measures to put fear in their enemies. Since their creation in 1987 they have been responsible for at least 557 deaths1 with a strong chance of more that were not confirmed. They are best known for their car bombings on civilians but also they have committed suicide bombings, plane bombings, and other murders. Between April 6th and March 1994 they had 1 car bombing killing eight, and three suicide bombings killing a total 72 innocent civilians.2 Even as recent as 2000 they have killed 114 civilians in bombings.

Terrorism is a massive problem--everybody realizes that. Regardless of origin, culture, country, or political standpoint, every sane person understands that terrorism is something that is still relatively prevalent in the world, and something needs to be done about it. The problem, however, is that there is no easy solution. The United States tends to take overbearing control and responsibility for all terrorist threats, groups, and attacks, but this is simply not reasonable. Although we cannot expect every country to take initiative against terrorist threats like ISIS, sustained international coordination is necessary to effectively confront transnational terrorist groups (Shirkey). This way, the US can begin taking care of themselves and their own country, as they still have many issues that have yet to be solved. While working together is important, though, it is not the key to solving the problem. What we must do in addition is investigate and address the root causes of terrorism, and analyse them in detail in order to best combat terrorist groups at their roots.

ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) is a terrorist group that is trying to build a caliphate in Syria, as well as evoking war with the United States. ISIS first started as a branch off of Al- Qaeda; until February 2014, when they broke away from Al- Qaeda. According to K.T. McFarland, a national security analyst, ISIS has raped and tortured it’s way through Syria and Iraq, killing those who won’t join their group.. They have managed to recruit thousands of citizens from around the world to join their cause. ISIS is a realistic threat to the U.S. and the world, and the US needs to stop them.

No more than two years ago people thought of Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda organisation if we mentioned the nightmare, extremism. Instead, nowadays the new forces of evil would be the ISIS, also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. ISIS originates from Al-Qaeda in Iraq. ISIL and associated forces having been moving quickly across Iraq, taking control of large sections of territory and driving out residents. It appears that they have turned their eyes toward Baghdad, looking to take control of the capital and extend their control further. This of great concern to the United States government as ISIL is a direct threat to our interests in the region and to the homeland. They have killed three Americans this year with the possibility of publicly killing the other American hostages they hold. These killings are a direct attack on the United States and cannot be ignored. In addition, there are Americans in their ranks that heighten the threat ISIS poses to the United States. With access to US passports and the ability to reenter the country, these fighters could carry out an attack inside the United States. The government feels that action must be taken against ISIL to prevent damage to our national security and harm from coming to our citizens.
