Miller Porter Sgt. A. Pedry research paper 9/11 was a major focal point on the war on terror. It changed America in many ways. There are two main view point’s that will be gone over in this research paper. The first and the most vital will be cultural historical viewpoint because it change Americas culture and how the viewed the world in a major way. The next but less prominent is top-down because in this research paper I will be talking about how the people in charge reacted to the events that unfolded in 911 how their decisions shaped the world that is today. These will be the historical viewpoints that will be shown in my research paper. The events of 911 changed America culturally in multiple ways. It also brought American people in the light of a new threat, terrorism. This changed America’s outlook drastic. On September, 11, 2001,multiple Al Qaeda terrorists boarded three passenger planes and then hijacked the planes and carried out suicide attacks against the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, DC., killing everyone on board the planes and nearly 3,000 people on the ground. A fourth plane crashed into a Pennsylvania field, after passengers and crew attempted to take control from the hijackers. These attacks were symbolic attacks against the United States and its people. Not only had it been a psychological attack, it was the first attack in a long time that it happened on US soil. The terrorists were also making symbolic attacks
There have been many turning points in American history; however none have had the same effects as September 11, 2001, and many people relate the day to the country’s loss of innocence. As a result of 9/11 many civil liberties were taken away, security was heightened, and there have been numerous effects on Americans. Although the attack happened on American soil, it can really be characterized as an attack on civilization itself, because people from more than 80 nationalities perished on that day (Hitchens).
While 9/11 was a very important moment in the lives of many Americans, not many realize the direct impact this tragedy has had on their lives, and their country. For one, 9/11 greatly changed America’s involvement in wars. It also completely changed the way airport security works in America. Finally, 9/11 caused the American government to begin collecting significantly more data from its citizens, something which has been quite unpopular with the American populace. No matter how you look at it, 9/11 has left a permanent mark on America.
How the 9-11 attacks changed america 9-11 has changed America's view on terrorism. Not only our view of the islamic culture but immigration and how strict we are with security, not just with airports but with events with high amounts of people in one specific area. It happened with Alceda that most people didn’t even know about them. Osama Bin Laden wanted to have an impact on America and they didn't have the weapons for attacking the army. They wanted the whole world to be afraid of them because since america is a strong country it would make every country fear the Alceda and tried to make the U.S weak. Approximately 2,977 innocent adults and children and also 343 new york firefighters and 23 police officers were killed with the collapse with the building and the planes hitting the buildings.
There have been many turning points in American History; however none have the same effect as September 11, 2001, and many Americans relate the day to the country’s loss of innocence. As a result of 9/11 many American’s lives were affected emotionally, physically, economically, and politically.
The images of the 9/11 attacks are still fresh and vivid in the minds of Americans who were alive to witness that tragic day. As a result of these attacks, the United States has undergone a transformation socially and politically as it seeks a remedy to the threat of Islamic terror. The years following the events were not great for the United States and for the West countries either. Even though the attacks almost 16 years ago, witnesses still remember it, like if were yesterday. The attacks also changed stereotypes for Muslims in general, which Al Qaeda was responsible.
On September 9, 2015, America looked back in time to September 9, 2001. 9-11 was the day that changed America forever. Two high jacked commercial airplanes crashed into the Twin TOWERS OF THE World Trade Center in New York City. Over 3,000 people were killed with many others injured and hundreds of first responders killed. Another airplane crashed into the Pentagon while in Pennsylvania a fourth airplane was brought down by brave passengers that refused to let the hijackers slam into Washington, D.C. The citizens of the United States were scared, confused, and angry all at the same time. This was the first attack by foreigners on American soil but not the first time that Americans were afraid of events that started in Europe and Eastern Europe but was brought to America, The American citizens did not take kindly to “foreigners” tell us what to do or how to live. They certainly did not want to change the American way of life.
The United States experienced a major turning point after the 9/11 attacks in 2001. 19 members of an Islamic extremist group of terrorists, Al Qaeda, hijacked four airplanes on what seemed to be a regular Tuesday morning for most Americans. The tragic events began at 8:46 AM when New York City’s north tower of the World Trade Center took a tremendous hit from American Airlines flight 11. Within 17 minutes of the first attack, which was assumed to be an accident to citizens, flight 175 of United Airlines pummeled into the south tower (Bergen, 2016). With a death toll/total of over 2,750, the New York attacks created chaos and apprehension throughout the country. With the whole nation watching, a third airplane drove straight into the Pentagon
A day not any individual could fathom became a reality on September 11, 2001. On this date, America was under attack from four airplanes hijacked by nineteen Al-Qaeda members from the roots of an Islamic terrorist group. All four were aimed at United States significance: the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and the White House. The attack proved to be disastrous and nearly three-thousand lives were taken in a single day. This occurrence has shaped the United States drastically and how America is perceived today.
Two events in the history of the U.S that are considered the most memorable historical event were the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and the Al-Qaeda terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Both events caused fear and devastation, but also inspired pride and patriotism. Americans question why these events occurred and how to prevent similar disasters. Despite similarities, there were differences in how America reacted due to societal context, attack intent, and resulting fear. The aftermath of both the Pearl Harbor and 9/11 attacks prompted the U.S. government to implement changes and new domestic policies.
On the morning of September 11, 2001, an Islamic terrorist group known as al-Qaeda carried out a series of four attacks on the United States. The most well-known attack is when two commercial airline planes crashed into the Twin Towers in New York City. Many innocent lives were lost and families were torn apart. While many Americans were determined to show their resilience towards the attacks, this is a day many Americans will never forget. Although the attacks happened sixteen years ago, Americans are still dealing with the impacts these attacks have had on life in America. The 9/11 attacks have had several long-lasting effects on everyday life in America, some of which include an increase in airport security, a change in national security, and an increase the fear of terrorism.
9/11 was a tragic attack that caused an epidemic of enormous fear causing tensions in cultural differences throughout our generation.
America has developed through the different factors of tragedies that the nation went through, everything has shaped America into a stronger country. The September 11 attack was a major tragedy to the United States, also the most known event where airplanes hijackers crashed into North and South Tower of the Word Trade Center along with the Pentagon. (Schwartz, 11/29/16) The September 11 terrorist attack changed America more because the horrific event led to large modifications of laws that are still influenced today, in which have helped to increase the surveillance and protection of the United States’ population.
On September 11, 2001 one of the world’s most tragic terrorist attacks happened to the United States; Terrorist’s hijacked four planes and crashed two of them into the World trade center located in New York city the third plane crashed into the pentagon and the last one was crashed somewhere in Pennsylvania on a field. Many lives were taken away that day; because of this tragic attack different sparks of questions and conversations raised to the surface, mostly bad. There were many questions that involved America’s security, such as our airports, the amount of tourism we had, and immigration we allowed in. People even sparked questions related to the government, such as, “Should we trust our government?” and “Was this a set-up?” Once questions about the government entered the air, American citizens started to think, if they should trust other countries into our state. I believe this topic can be very controversial because of the different ways you can look at this tragedy. I believe the United States of America was affected in so many ways and in all the research I have done my goal is to inform you on the many different ways September the 11th affected America’s security, our government and the American View.
The attacks that occurred changed the lives of many people. This day will not only be remembered for the traumatic events but also be remembered for the changes that occurred. This date marked a start of a whole new era. Many changes occurred in the post 9/11 era. This changes were both domestic and international and had a large change in our country. These changes were put in place to protect the American people and prevent another attack from occurring. The domestic changes focused on heightening security. The Patriot Act, The TSA and the Department of Homeland Security were all established as a security measures to protect America. The government wanted to do as much as they can to ensure that nothing like this would occur again. Along with the domestic changes international changes occurred as well. The US entered in a global war on terror. This included invading countries like Iraq and Afghanistan. Countries with corrupt governments that took part in the 9/11 attacks. The US invaded these countries to minimize the treat and overthrow the leadership. The US set out to develop democratic rule in these middle eastern countries. The events that took occurred on September 11, 2001 were traumatic and substantial changes both internationally and domestic in order to prevent another attack from
On September 11, 2001 there was tragic moment when terrorists hijacked four civilian airplanes in New York and crashed them into the World Trade Center. 9/11 is a important date to the United States because it was a successful plan for the terrorist who wanted to try and crush the U.S government/ Economy .Al Qaeda was the main organization who was behind the idea to hijack American airlines. After 9/11 changes occurred, stricter laws were being passed by congress, the government became very protective and wanted threats to be eliminated, and racial profiling of Muslims rose throughout the country. This tragic event made America a new country. On September 11 in the morning, two planes were hijacked and were flown into the towers of
