Over the course of many years the United States has done a very good job of creating and supplying jobs for the citizens. This could be an effect of our economic standings or is there a reason other countries do better than others? There are many countries that are doing better than the United States in the aspect of unemployment, but the US currently has a very low rate of 4.8% (List of Countries). The country that is currently doing the best is Qatar with a rate of 0.4%. This could be for many reasons such as population (List of Countries). One thing that I have found is that there is a direct correlation to standard of living and unemployment rate. Many of the poorer countries in the world have a much higher unemployment, such as …show more content…
When the country goes through depression most of the time the rate will rise dramatically and go back down. This has happened many times, the most recent only being four to five years ago. The unemployment rate is currently 4.8%, which is a good place to be. This has been the average rate in the US for a very long time. This is an effect of our strong economy. Economy is described as the wealth and resources of a country, especially in terms of production and consumption of goods and services. The economy is also determined by population and standard of living. If the population is very high in a country and standard of living is low, then the unemployment rate will most likely be very high. This goes both ways. The United States has a very good standard of living and a population of around 326 million, this affects the economy making the unemployment rate what it is. There are some countries that are doing a better job of this but most have a higher rate than the US. Most countries with poor economic systems have high unemployment rates such as Zimbabwe, Syria and Yemen. All of these countries are close in population but are low in comparison the US. They also have very low standards of living and very high rates. There are other cases like Qatar with a population of around two million and with the lowest unemployment rate. It varies from country to country. China has a population of over one billion and has around the
The unemployment rate in America is a huge factor with noticing on how well the labor force has been doing in the past. Overall the unemployment rate in America has been slowly decreasing in the past couple of years. “The unemployment rate hit 10 percent in October [2009], and there are good reasons to believe that by 2011, 2012, even 2014, it will have declined only a little” (Peck). It is a slow process, but hopefully in the future it will not be a problem anymore. Another statistic that should be looked at is the poverty rate in America. “The official poverty rate in 2006 was 12.3 percent, down from 12.6 percent in 2005” (U.S. Census Bureau). The poverty level has relatively remained level and has not changed drastically. The poverty
Since the early 2000’s the unemployment rates of the United States have been constantly changing. For most of this time unemployment rates were increasing at a quick pace as the country was dealing with internal financial issues of its own. When people are out of work the rates of depression and crime seem to skyrocket. This is due to the lack of funds coming into a home which result in some less than admirable acts being committed. There are many causes of unemployment and many effects that unemployment can have on not only our economy, but our personal lives as well.
The unemployment rate has dramatically increased over the last several months. This increase has created many complications for the American people. Although the United States economy has created over 7 million jobs, there is still a long way to go until the economy is back on track.
A countries unemployment rates, homeless rates, and average debt all show the quality of an economy. As of April, 2018 the unemployment rate is 3.9% in America (Ferreira). With a population of about 325 million people, that’s over 12,000,000 people without a job. In contrast, the unemployment rate in Ireland is 5.9% as of April this year, that’s 280,000 people (Ferreira).
In 2012 the unemployment rate was at a high rate of 8.1%, according to Marilyn Geewax on the website The Two Way. Geewax also claims, the unemployment rate in 2016 lessened to 4.9%. Jobs around America are always changing depending on the economy.¨The Broken Basic Bargain¨ focuses on how the economy has both its highs and its lows just like jobs do in ¨Mike Rowe: Learning From Dirty Jobs¨.
Currently the unemployment rate is twenty-three percent (Roberts). That is a very high rate compared to past when
Finally, the unemployment rate should be concerned to analysis the future macro economy. It reflects the state of economy whether it is at the full capacity. Higher unemployment implies a contraction which will drive down the stock price. As can be seen in Figure 4, the unemployment rate is low in the historical period and relatively high and upward since 2008. The upward unemployment rate will reduce the consumption capacity of the nations which will reduce the revenue of the WOW.
France’s workers are unable to save and invest, and build businesses to work to strengthen the economy. The unemployment in France is 9.9% of the labor force. On the other hand, America has an unemployment rate of 5.2% of their labor force, which is almost half of France’s unemployment rate. But to keep in mind, America has a significantly higher population then France, therefore their labor force can still provide economic growth within the country.
The unemployment rate is measured by a division of the Department of Labor known as the Bureau of Labor Statistics (bls.gov). This government agency conducts a monthly survey called the Current Population Survey that involves 60,000 households. These households are selected using random sampling methods designed to generate as close an approximation as possible to the larger population. Unemployment occurs mostly when someone who is actively searching for employment is unable to find work. But however people without a job are not necessarily unemployed according to bls.gov. But according to cnn.com there were over 5.4 million jobs opened in the U.S in April 2015 alone. So why does it seem that there are so many people—mostly minorities—not being able to find a
With an unemployment rate of 5% and a population of about 326,079,646 people, there can be about 163,039,823 unemployed people in the United states. There are many things that the United States government can do to reduce Unemployment. In order to reduce the unemployment rate in the United States, the United States government could reduce the federal minimum wage to allow employers to hire more employees because of the money that they save, increase the number of long term construction jobs, and decrease the number of jobs that are outsourced to other countries.
All of those decreasing or increasing rate are calculated by the US economy officially, and the official rate calculated seems to decrease constantly, that it is said to be below 5%. However, there are excessive doubts from the people with the low rate of unemployment. There are several reasons for the suspicions. First of all, the participation rate has fallen. “The participation rate has fallen since the recession, likely due to demographic shifts like baby boomers retiring” (Wells). The participation rate, which is the measurements of the people who are employed or looking for a job, has decreased. This explains that declining unemployment rate is suspicious. Second, the parsing labor statistics. There are 6 measures of unemployment rate,
The high rate of unemployment is hurting America because not enough people are working or earning wages to be able to consume goods that are being produced. The recession forced more companies to reduce production, as a result of this more and more people were laid off and unemployed.
In first decade of the 21st century, the US Unemployment Rate was approximately 6%, but this does not mean that 94% of the country had a job.
There are plenty of jobs available in the United States. The fact of the matter is, most are low paying jobs and people with years of work experience and college degrees are not willing to accept those jobs at first. The reality is most people have to start at the entry level and work their way up, unless they have good connections or it is a family owned business in which they do not have to worry about competing for promotions. Unemployment Rate in the United States averaged 5.82 percent from 1948 until
When just a regular person writes his or her check, and he or she doesn’t have that money in the bank, the check most likely doesn’t go through. So, why can the government get away with writing Americans checks when there is also no money in their bank? If there is money to be spent, why would it be given to a person with no job? The Unemployment rate is at 5.8% according to the Labor Force Statistics from the Current Population Survey in October 2014. The rate has been shifting over the last 10 years. It will go up and it will go down over the next 10 years as well. Unemployment is a debatable topic with tons people, but is it aiding or hampering our country? The United States government should rid themselves of unemployment, because it makes
