How does aggression relate to gun ownership/use? Does aggression actually have an effect on gun control? There have been many studies done that says it does. But, the question is, does everyone with a gun have to take it out with their aggression. Not everyone does take it out but there is a great amount of people that actually do. I am going to talk about the studies that have been done and how they impact society.
Currently, in the United States we have a lot of violence going on. Is it because people are angry at things that have happened? Is it because they haven’t had a stable bringing up? Why do they do this stuff? Studies have been done with another object in front of a person and then weapons and they wanted to see how a person

People are able to have a permit to carry weapons in public places. I think that they need to do deeper background checks on these people and what they will be using them for. If they have had a history of criminal records or anger issues, DO NOT ISSUE them a permit to carry. I think it is scary for us to trust someone who could have anger issues and then take it out on people with a gun. I know that it’s like this for anything, but a gun is super scary.
There are some statistics for people who own a gun. An estimated 270-300 million guns are owned by Americans. 45 million Americans own handguns. Eleven of the past 20 worst mass shootings have occurred in the United States. Seeing these statistics, I think we need to try our hardest to either reduce anger or reduce the amount of guns we have out with people (Williams,
2012).
Many people are frustrated with the media and how they glorify guns on the news. The news is portraying gun use and ownership as an American value, that you need to own a gun to live in the United States. Lately, gun ownership has been connected to all the crimes that have
been happening lately. Take the recent shooting in Tennessee where the guy came into the church and started shooting. A man went on a rampage and started shooting people after church was let out (Andone, Gamble, Watts, 2017). What were his motives to do this? Nobody knows why he did it. In the article, it talked about they wanted to know the gun history, as to where he
Gun control is a hot topic in today’s television, with reported “shootings” and “gun accidents” showing up daily in the news and on TV news channels. Conservatives on FOX News drive the constitutional “right to bear arms,” while the liberal ideologists on CNN News press gun control and the prohibition of gun ownership. These two bias media sources uncover similarities and differences in how
America probably has the highest rate of gun ownership in the world. In Canada, the percentage of Canadian households with a rifle is approximately equal to the level in United States. According to the statistics of gun murder rates around the world from ‘Bowling for columbine’, America has 11,127 gun
Although people against gun regulations argue that guns are what keeps us safe, there was a study done by New York City cardiologists which states that the U.S. has 88 guns per 100 people, but there are about 10 gun-related deaths per 100,000 people which is more than any of
The most common reason why people argue that they need to have a gun is for safety, so they can protect themselves against burglars. If a burglar would come into your house, you would have a better chance defending yourself and your family with a gun, than if you did not have a gun. The number of concealed weapon owners is at an all time high. In comparison the number of homicides had drastically decreased alongside the growing rate of legal concealed weapons. This number had been nearly cut in half in the past 20 years(Goldberg).
The criminals and dregs of society will always find a way to get firearms and cause harm and malicious deeds to law abiding citizens. The need for the American people to defend themselves and their families is absolute. The media is constantly spreading how many lives guns have taken and as horrible devices, but the truth of the matter is, although the use of firearms has been in homicides and murders, the use of firearms has also saved countless people. Many potential rape victims have fought back in self-defense with the use of a firearm and many house invasions have been averted. The fact is a firearm is a tool, and like any tool the device can be used in any way the beholder wants. The negative effect these tools have on the media and social media is when the devices are used with malicious intent by criminals or the mentally
As the ongoing debate of gun control seems to be never getting any change or differences made, America is persistent to getting these changes. People are speaking out against gun violence in America and making an action plan. After many tragedies from gun violence, they are ready for changes to be made. The media has very back and forth views on gun control. Gun violence has affected the media in America by showing harsh realities, hidden truths, and sad stories.
Although some people believe that inhabitants firearms ownership assurance security, national and international statistic demonstrate an opposite effect. United States, which has more arms per capita than any other country, displays the highest rate of firearm homicides and suicides among of the developed nations. Louisiana State, which has the most permissible weapon laws, show the highest rate of gun murders and suicides in U. S.; and the lowest rate is in California
The gun violence, crimes, and cases in the United States is a national epidemic. A lot of people take advantage of guns using them and manipulating their weapon with hardly any thought. Many countless innocent lives have been lost because of the fact that people have been able to obtain firearms legally or illegally. These people have taken the notion to be the jury, judge, and executioner in holding someone’s life in their hands. For example, in the article Think Progress the state, “Courts have granted immunity to a man who went back to his car to get a gun, and another who shot a acquaintance for threatening to beat him up.”(Think Progress). Think Progress also states, “In Florida alone, 26 children and teens were killed in Stand Your Ground cases.”(Think Progress). These are very serious cases where people have misused their rights by manipulating the Stand Your Ground Law and their weapon. Gun violence just do not affect the victims, but it also affects poor neighborhoods, family and friends. The Atlantic report confirms great logos with providing statistical facts stating, “There are about 310 million guns in the country. About 40% of households have them.” Guns are so easy to obtain legally and illegally that America has the highest gun rate than any other country in the
America is a country that has surrounded itself with gun culture with 75 to 86 million people owning a total of about 200 to 240 million guns. The truth is that most of us have very little firsthand experience with using guns as weapons. Even the vast majority of police officers have never exchanged shots with a suspect. Most of us receive our images of guns and their use through television, film, and newspapers. Unfortunately, the images from the screen and the newspapers are often unrepresentative or biased because of the exaggeration typically used to sell news and entertainment. A couple of instances of news reporting are especially instructive in illustrating this bias. In a highly publicized incident, a Dallas man recently became the
In this world today, there is a big problem with mass shootings happening more often. People tend to blame guns more than they do the people doing the crime. Some even say the Second Amendment should be altered or abolished. Everyone has a right to express their opinion on things, but sometimes in serious situations like this we need to really understand what the problem is and not make things any worse than they already are. Yes, guns do have a big part in mass shootings, but they aren’t the only problem in the situation.
Of course the media hypes up political agendas around guns, but Americans also have their own opinions about guns. The majority of Americans wish to have stricter gun laws, 58% as compared to the 34% that say kept as is and the 6% who want less strict laws (Guns). Americans want something done about guns. Listen to the people.
Guns in the past and present have been used in battles of war, so in the minds of many they believe that a gun will help solve their problem but in actuality it causes more problems than solving them. The recent shooting and killing of two journalist in Virginia has shaken the community, they were shot at during a live broadcast by a former co-worker. The shooter was upset by his treatment while
The authors accuse the fear to make it pro-gun. This is not freedom. The authors also criticize the media by encouraging fear. The article claims that the communities most affected by violence approve the control of the guns, and the areas least affected by violence often celebrated the guns as emblematic of freedom.
The exact number of guns in civilian hands in the US cannot be determined because there is no
Gun violence has been around for centuries and there have been many mass shootings, homicides and suicides. There is always the argument on “do guns kill people” or “do people kill people”? What people really need to be looking at is the problem which is people stocking up on guns and not knowing how to properly handle them and all the mass shootings that are taking place. As a country, people need to be coming up with solutions instead of doing nothing.
