Introduction:
In the United States, there is an increasing amount of Bullying of various types among school-aged children. Bullying has not only become worse it is also more evident and proven now of the horrible affects bullying has on children causing long term psychological or physical damage and in some cases even ends in death as in the case of Phoebe Prince in 2004. (J. Holladay, 2011, par. 5) The chances and ability to inflict constant bullying or torment on a victim has increased as the internet and social media has come into children’s lives. This reduces the amount of time victims have without this negative influence on their lives and increasingly drives down their self-esteem raising the risk for them to do just what

The higher accountability act should also expand out to the parents or guardians of the bullies that knowingly allow their children to use the internet to verbally abuse or ridicule their classmates. The parents of the bullies that know their children are bulling children at school should also be held accountable to a certain extant for their children’s behavior once the school has notified them of the situation. The only exception to this would be if they tried to get help or took their child to get help, once finding out what was going on.
The bullies should be held accountable as well though on a different level from adults. Bullies in these cases are still children or teenagers not adults and do hold a better chance of being rehabilitated. Everyone grows more accountable for their actions as well as they get older, from what is expected in school, to work places and even with the law. Studies have also proven that youth offenders especially those placed into juvenile delinquent facilities instead of facilities to get psychiatric help or community action programs designed to teach and rehabilitate are more likely to reoffend.
These crimes should be taken more serious as they are directed at the innocents of this society by those who should be the innocents of this societies and most often just do not understand how to handle the stress or pressure in their lives, or they have
The kids who are getting bullied should not get in trouble, “they should not be blamed for being victims”. (Brodyjan 3). The kids that are victim should not be in trouble they should have support behind them. The ones who are bullying should be punished and needs to be brought up in schools and home. Parents should teach there kids to defend up for themselves and not be walked over.
Did you know that parents of bullies go to jail in California? Should or should not parents be held accountable for their children being bullies? Parents should not be held accountable because not all parents can watch their children all the time. Also some kids don't pick up bullying from their parents. They could pick it up from anybody!
Others would say that schools do have the responsibility to prevent bullying when the schools helping to prevent bullying empowers students to face up to their bullies. However, this is not the case.Students would not be empowered to stand up to their bullies if schools took responsibility for the students. Instead of standing up to the bullies themselves, the students would probably try to make the school take care of it. This goes to show that having the school take care of bullying for the students, would not help the students learn how to take care of things on their own. For example, if the students figured out that the school would take care of something for them, they would not want to do things themselves. Most students would probably get lazy. Therefore, schools should not be bound by law to take care of bullying because students would become lazy.
Jasmine, a 10 year old girl from North Carolina, decided to hang herself after facing bullying at school. Her parents were shocked to find her like this, and had no idea about the bullying until children in her school reported witnessing several incidents. Jasmine’s story shows that even children as young as her can be mentally harmed due to bullying, so we should put a stop to the behavior before suicide rates go up even higher. I strongly believe that bullies should be held legally responsible for their actions. Bullying falls under a legal category when it becomes intolerable, and someone facing depression is obviously unable to tolerate the bullying. Also, bullies need to learn to take responsibility for their actions, and the victims can
To begin with, parents of bullies should be held responsible because they are the ones that raise them. For example, a school shooting occurred at the columbine high school in Littleton, Colorado that took 15 lives, this happened on April 20, 1999. This happened because they were getting bullied by a group of kids at school and they were making their lives miserable for them this is what led to a shooting. This
Concluding, ones who bully online should be prosecuted for the acts they have committed. The effects done by cyberbullying cause many people to become miserable. Bullies do terrible things to make others feel bad about themselves because of their insecurities or because they do things differently than them. Cyber bullies should only be prosecuted for reasonable reasons. If the bully does something so bad that it causes the victim to do things such as self-harm, then they should be punished for their
I believe that parents should not be punished for their child’s behavior. Parents aren’t always by their child’s side, there are other influences outside of schools that are not just the kid’s parents. When the kid becomes older than eighteen, it’s their problem to deal with if they get charged for assault, not their parents. So, if the person is responsible for their own actions in the future, why should their parents be responsible for their actions when they are a child. The bully should be responsible for their behavior in the future and in the
All forms of bullying are inhumane and hurt the victims as well as family members. These acts of violence carry long term effects. One way I feel that school officials can help prevent bullying is by requiring the perpetrators to have to attend mandatory counseling alone with their primary care giver. I feel that if we start holding parents accountable for their children’s actions there will be a lower chance of that child repeating the action. It will also show parents the devastation bullies victims experience, as well as help them determine the underlying cause of their actions. I also believe that the penalties for second or third offenses should be in the form of removing that individual from the setting. It may sound harsh, but why should
President Obama states “This isn’t an issue that makes headlines every day, but it is an issue that effects every signal young person in the country. “It’s hard bring a child in today’s world without being bullied. Parents should be held accountable if their child is bulling another child.
Bullying in Australian primary schools has become an epidemic, having a negative effect on children’s learning and development (Lodge, 2014). Therefore, it is crucial that schools and teachers are aware, understand and educated on how bullying can impact children’s learning and development; to be able to effectively implement policies, respond, educate and eliminate bullying in the school environment.
One reason bullies should be held responsible is simple. It can be emotionally and physically harmful. Bullying can change lives; in a bad way. In severe cases, it can even drive victims to the point of suicidal thoughts and even suicide itself. Bullying is a way of releasing stress and anger upon another person, and that is not okay. Using it as a way to feel higher than everyone else or above your peers is wrong. Victims can lose total self-worth and the feeling of dignity let alone trying to tone down who they are since a bully disagrees with their choices or how they act. On the legal side of it, it could be tried as mild to severe IIED. Which is also known as
Bullying is happening all the time and all around us. People blame lots of things on bullying like insecurities, low self esteem, and many others. What people seem to forget is the parents, teachers, coaches and other strong authority figures. People need to focus on where the kids are getting the ideas from adults; the real bully creators.
Ultimately the parent of the bully bears the responsibility for bullying. They need to address the situation with their child, getting help for the child's aggressive behavior. But like so much of life, issues must be attacked on all fronts. Schools, police, parents, peers, courts all have a part to play in solving the problem. The Benjamin Franklin School in Ridgewood, NJ had a great idea in bringing 8th grade students to speak to 6th graders, explaining to the students the importance of staying off social media and telling the students to speak to the guidance counselor, one the students
In order to solve a problem in a school or elsewhere you need a plan, additionally, you need to find out the cause or causes of the problem before constructing your plan and this is where research comes in. Research conducted to solve issues or problems in schools or educational systems are termed Action Research. After sitting and discussing issues and problems in our education system we decided to tackle the issue of the psychological impact of bullying. The purpose of our action research was to attempt to improve students’ academic performance by trying to lessen or eliminate the occurrences of bullying at J.P Eustace Secondary School. The J.P Eustace Secondary School is labelled by the Vincentian public as being an unruly school
Bullying is a problem is schools that may cause many students to feel unsafe school. Due to the recent school shooting in Littleton Colorado and in Santana High School in Santee, California. With the media and public talking about bulling, schools have now started new ways to end bulling in schools across America.
