I believe globalization has brought forward positive aspects as well as negative aspects equally. However, the positive effects for one country can also result in a negative for another. Here are a few examples of how I see this happen, through globalization many economic opportunities are provided, this increases the standard of living for many; however these benefits are not worldwide and we continue to see that the wealthy are getting wealthier at the expense of others. Globalization benefits consumers by providing the best price possible through outsourcing goods around the world; this, however, takes business away from local companies and leaves many people without a job. Globalization is increasing interdependency of nations and businesses throughout the world. It has had a profound effect on both markets and production. It has lowered or eliminated government barriers to export-import trade. Gives firms access to the worlds vast offerings of food, clothing, and other manufactured goods. Companies can also benefit from foreign manufacturing, shifting factory production to less developed, cheaper labor countries.

Globalization has immense effects on our diverse economy. It is a controversial issue; some say it may mean development and prosperity for our country as it has led to faster access to technology, improved communication and innovation. Globalization has, for better or worse, altered the economic arena for every country in the world. For many less developed countries, globalization has leveled the playing field so that their economies can compete with the larger, more developed ones such as the United States and other large western economies. For instance, technical engineers in India and China are now just as qualified as engineers in America, but at half the cost. The once large and prosperous service sector in the United States as well as telemarketing services have largely been sourced to India as a large exodus of American multinational corporations find cheaper workers who deliver comparable quality. Globalization is the process regarding an increasing interaction of people, states, or countries through the growth of the international flow of money, ideas, and culture. It can also be tied to business ventures where businesses or other organizations develop international influence or start operating on an international scale. The idea of globalization has become very controversial in the United States labor market. There are many pros and cons on how it affects the labor markets. Along with the labor market controversy people also debate over whether globalization is a threat or opportunity to the United States economy. Although Globalization has brought a significantly positive impact on most countries in terms of economy, culture, and politics, it also has left some drawbacks behind on the same aspects.

Major advancements during WWII led a trend toward a more integrated global economic system. Most of these advancements aided communication, transportation and information processing. Some of these improvements were “computer hardware, software, and telecommunications” in term giving better “access to information and economic potential” (Global Envision). Our technology is advancing outrageously fast and making globalization easier than ever.

Technology is defined as the application of human knowledge and resources to meet needs and solve problems. Since the dawn of history, technology has been an ever present part of human society. As the needs of society change, technology will continue to evolve in order to best suit those changes. Technology has definitely brought positive and negative implications for society, but how has technology affected the globalization of the economy and “flattening” of the world? There are four ways in which technology has affected the globalization of the economy. They include communication, business competition, warfare, and creation of jobs.
