The authors imply that the war on poverty, the war on drugs, and the war on terrorism are all types of an ideological war (Rich, 2016, p.1). An ideological war is the clash of ideals, ideologies, or concepts that countries or groups use strategic planning to promote their ideas and interests (Rich, 2016, p.1). The key point is that the authors classify the war on poverty, the war on terror, and the war on terrorism as ideological wars because all three wars are endless wars. There will always be drugs in the streets, and there will always be a way that illegal drugs will make their way to drug users. No matter how many times police seize the drugs off the streets, there will always drugs within the communities of the United States.
