Wrote an article for The Chronicle of Higher Education newspaper titled ( title ) “ An Immigrant Learns Two New Languages.” In the article, Eric Hoover (tone) sets an informal tone when describing the personal hardships and achievements of Ms. Maldonato. The author (audience) targets men and women over the age of 50 who are still fixed on attending college. Ms. Maldonato, a part-time student at the Community College of Philadelphia, learned two languages after emigrating from colombia. ( Purpose ) The author intends to entertain his readers by sharing the journey that Ms Maldonato took to become a successful immigrant. ( Thesis ) To learn a language is to piece together a puzzle that is never quite done.

One of the most interesting and motivating readings found in “Prose Reader's book by Kim and Michael Flachmann” is “Public and Private Language by Richard Rodriguez”. In this reading the author narrates the experiences of his life when he emigrated to a foreign country and the difficulties and challenges he had to face. It is a huge challenge, occasionally people are afraid of changes and start a new life. Classrooms do not readily host a bi-lingual teacher who can successful communicate with these immigrant students in their native tongue as well in English. Schools do not have many multi-cultural programs to help these immigrant students adjust. Being an undocumented student only adds to the stresses they face while in this country. Their parents are, illegal, which renders them unavailable for assistance during critical matters in their formative years. They live in poverty and everyday, they live in fear raids and ultimate deportation. If schools would develop a broader outlook as to how to serve these students it would greatly improve student development and relations for these immigrant students.
I find the idea of race a bit tricky because a I am of Mexican decent. My ancestors, according to my grandfather were Spanish so in a way I believe that makes me European white. This does not really affect my ingrouper or outgrouper communication because race is not a factor in my judgment. People read the newspaper and articles when they see a topic that is related to their life and I think the immigrant’s families will also read the newspaper when they see a topic about immigration. Upon on arriving to Queensland, Australia it was fine except our luggage, went to Brisbane Airport instead of the airport we were flying in at, Whitsunday Airport. After that, we got into a taxi to a rental car service. Then, we went out to eat at good old Mcdonalds for lunch. My sister was not that annoying today. Property because they all had headphones in listening to music for the trip so far. And, I am not talking about low volume either; I am talking about full blast. It is like they’re having a competition to see whose music can be louder. I forgotten my phone and headphones in my suitcase so, I had to play I spy with myself. Let me tell it is the most boring thing you can ever do. So after about two or
