The Difference between Administrative and Clinical Supervision
Introduction Although some clinicians can do it all, the skills set and knowledge needed to supervise a healthcare facility administratively may be far different from that needed to provide effective clinical supervision. To determine these differences and their implications for practice, this paper provides a review of the relevant literature to identify the difference between administrative and clinical supervision and the respective purpose, rights of the supervisee, and the importance of supervisor competence. A summary of the research and important findings are presented in the conclusion.

Background and Overview Although professional standards were promoted throughout the 20th century in a wide range of settings (Centore & Milacci, 2008), it has only within the last quarter century or so that the counseling profession established a formal entity called the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) in 1981 for this purpose (Adams, 2006). A year later, the National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc. and Affiliates (NBCC) was established in 1982 to provide accreditation standards for counselor education as well as a method of assessing educational knowledge (Adams, 2006). In this regard, Juhnke (2009) reports that, "The NBCC was established through the American Counseling Association (ACA) in 1982. The reason for NBCC's original existence

The California Counseling Association is a branch under the American Counseling Association, which also runs as a non-profit association (CCA, 2017). To become a Licensed Professional Counselor, an individual must meet numerous requirements set forth by the State in which he or she will be practicing. Each State is responsible for determining and enacting the requirements established for licensure. Therefore, the requirements may differ from state to state. In this paper, I will compare and contrast the requirements for the states of Missouri and Texas according to the information obtained from the National Board for Certified Counselors website directory.
Doctoral level counselor education programs will implement the 2016 CACREP standards to maintain accreditation. Adkinson-Bradley (2011), details the progression of clarity in the CACREP standards for counselor education and the foci for each revision. In recent years, professional identity has been the cornerstone of the CACREP standards and there is not a specific study that addresses how research reflects the doctoral level domains (Gladding, 2013).
Firstly there is a difference between the credentialing committee and the “board” The board is made up of eight professional and for public members. The board regulates the professional part of counselors. The credentialing committee for each discipline that the board oversees is made up of four professional and one public member. There is a bit of a catch as two professional members from the committee sit on the board. That means there is only two unaffiliated members on each committee that are not part of the board. The committee makes recommendations to the board in regards to licenses.
The authors in this research address the importance competency in preparing counselors-in-training. Young, Cashwell, Wiggins-Frame, and Belaire (2002) suggest that counselor’s educators are much unprepared to incorporate spirituality competencies to counselors-in-training. The article also supports counselor educators are unprepared in applying spirituality in their curriculum. They lack the requirement set by CACREP standards, as well as their colleagues are even less prepared (Young et al.,

Health care administration is a very important and crucial role in today’s healthcare system. With an ever-changing national health care system, the role of a Health care Administrator or Healthcare Executive more than ever is needed. Healthcare facilities, organizations, and or offices rely on health care administrators to plan, direct and coordinate all medical health services (United States Department of Labor , 2014). Some areas where one might find administrators are managing entire medical facilities, specialized clinical departments, or a medical practice for a group of physicians (United States Department of Labor , 2014). The need for high-quality health care administers is more now than ever with the fast-changing health care laws.
As a future school counselor, I can reflect that these past eight weeks, I have a full understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a school counselor in a traditional high school. Practicum 2 has been learning experiences that I will remember as I start my new profession. I believe that being exposed and actively involved with a group of school counselors brought a wide range of knowledge that I plan to utilize in the future. As a continuum from my Practicum 1, the following CACREP standards are mentioned below.
