According to the U.S. Census, one in three children, or approximately fifth teen million, are growing up without their father. This is what I would consider an epidemic because the numbers continue to rise yearly. With the numbers continuing to grow, American children continue to suffer. It is critical that a father is positively active in their child or children’s lives because father’s provide a sense of safety, mothers cannot teach a child everything that a child needs to know, and households gain balance when the father is present. I will now better explain. First of all, it is vital that a father is active in his child or children’s lives because fathers provide a sense of safety. The father is supposed to be the head of his home and the protector of his family, while his wife is his submissive and the family’s nurturer. According to God, that’s the way it is supposed to be! If someone should ever try to harm his family, he should protect them. A mother will attempt to do the same thing, however, a woman’s strength does not match a man’s strength. Therefore, a mother should not be forced to perform the father’s job as the provider and protector, while performing her own duties as the comforter and nurturer. Second of all, a father should be a part of his children’s lives because mothers cannot teach their child everything that a child needs to know about life and growing up. Some things a father must install in a child, and the best way to teach a child the correct
The Government of Canada, as well as adjoining non-profit organizations such as the Mental Health Commission of Canada, has released studies examining the number and outcome of interactions between the police and PMI. From these reports, the need to improve and reduce the number of interactions is clear.
There are times in our life when each of us has fallen ill. Many of us immediately consult the doctors. Our faith appears to have disappeared. As diligently members of the church, we do not stop to consulting God for His medical assistance. We can all identify with the woman with the issue of blood and how she spent all she had before she meet up with Jesus and just by reaching out and touching just the hem of His garment. She was made whole. Hezekiah quickly turns to the wall and consults God for a miraculous healing immediately. God extended His life just like that. We must gather ourselves and remember where all of our help comes from and that is the Lord. As, the trials of life comes about, we are waiting on the Lord. The fact of the
Although single parenthood is on the rise in homes today, children still often have a father role in their life. It does not matter who the part is filled by: a father, uncle, older brother, grandfather, etc...; in almost all cases, those relationships between the father (figure) and child have lasting impacts on the youth the rest of their lives. In “I Wanted to Share My Father’s World,” Jimmy Carter tells the audience no matter the situation with a father, hold onto every moment.
There has been a terrible accident, your head is crushed and you are fighting for your life, but “they” know you won’t make it. The doctor should also be fighting for your life, but he isn’t. You realize this is no accident. This is a partial birth abortion. You are not a patient of the clinic, you are simply a fetus. Abortion, in today’s society, has almost become second nature. Women all around the world are aborting children because they “aren’t ready”. Norma McCorvey, better known as Jane Roe, was the defendant in the 1973 United States Supreme Court Case Roe v. Wade. That landmark case established a woman’s right to have an abortion, but it created serious implications for right to life in America.
Current Event: According to The New York Times, On May 27, 2016 Argentina’s last dictator, and 14 other former military officials have been sentenced to prison for the disappearance of more than 100 people during the Operation Condor conspiracy to hunt down dissidents across South America. This all began in the 1970’s when six South American dictators started the Operation Condor and used their “secret police networks” to track down rivals who were across the borders. Many of the bodies of these victims have still not been found and the prosecutors continue to try and cover up the deaths today. The court sentenced the leader Reynaldo Bignone 20 years in prison and the other 14 received eight to 25 years. One of the many victims was Maria Claudia Irueta Goyena, who was the daughter-in-law of Argentine poet Juan Gelman. Maria was pregnant when she was kidnapped and held inside an auto shop for months before someone in the air force came and took her to Uruguay. After the birth of her daughter she went missing and then years later her daughter Macarena Gelman discovered her own identity. "Operation Condor affected my life, my family," Chilean Laura Elgueta told The Associated Press outside the court room. Her brother, Luis Elgueta, had taken refuge in Buenos Aires from Gen. Augusto Pinochet 's forces, only to be forcibly disappeared in Buenos Aires in 1976 as part of Operation Condor (The New York Times, 2016).
"Ring around the rosy a pocket full of posies" begins playing the dancing death song round and round inside my head every time I look back at my life. When the news of the plague began hitting other towns around me that is when I became frightened that my city was being quickly destroyed. I started pleading my husband to not leave the house but he called me insane his words were "who else would bring the money to the table". He never was a good listener and it was when my husband passed away that I realized death is unavoidable. People began to question God whether he is with us or not. Chaos broke out in the towns, cities and finally the whole entire European country quickly started dying off. People began turning on the church and government for not having the medicine we need nor the love from God.
Kent State University, located in Ohio, faced a tragic event on May 4th, 1970. On this day members of the Ohio National Guard fired into a crowd of students ultimately killing four and severely wounding 9. (Lewis, Hensley) This massacre stunned the country. The various reactions to these students’ deaths came in a widely range throughout the country. Many citizens sparked a voice of belief against these actions and made a significant impact on the aftermath. Neil Young produced a highly acclaimed song, “Ohio”, about 10 days after the shooting. This song became an anthem for those Americans who were completely appalled by the actions involving the war in Vietnam (Songfacts). The legendary song, “Ohio” was an effective anthem to all Americans sparking a an impact to many protestors during a desperate and stressful time.
“For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God…” 1 Thessalonians 2:11-12 This scripture outlines the role as a father. However, one out of every three American children has to live with the heartbreak of having an absent father. In this generation, the rate of absent fathers is skyrocketing. Children without the presence of a father are, lost, broken and distrustful.
Much research has been done on the influence of a mother on a child’s well-being and development (Pougnet, Serbin, Stack, & Schwartzman, 2011). However, research has shown that an engaged and loving father can contribute greatly to a child’s cognitive, social, and psychological development (Bronte-Tinkew, Carrano, Horowitz, & Kinukawa, 2008; Duursma, Pan, & Raikes, 2008; Pancsofar & Vernon-Feagans, 2010; Wilson & Prior, 2010).
The connection with a young man has with his dad shapes his life. Which is why every adult male must decide how that relationship will – or won’t – define who he is. A father a provider and always has been and always should maintain that role for his family. If all the father’s family functions were economic, if his status was accounted by how well he provided his family. But the man who is wealthy and economically powerful father became a tyrant.
People who grow up fatherless have a hard time grasping the concept of life and ultimately God. Usually children grow and have low self-worth and feels as if they are undeserving. In Prager’s article he points out how God commands people to do many things, but love is not one of them. However, by God people are demanded to show love and honor others. To a woman, a father teaches her how to be respected and feel like a queen.
In the United States it is becoming more and more likely for children to grow up without their fathers. Father absence is a crucial social issue and can be linked to dozens of our most pressing social dilemmas. David Blankenhorn of the American Experiment said “this trend of fatherlessness is the most socially consequential family trend of our generation” (Blankenhorn). Father absence in the American home has a serious and negative effect on the well-being of our society.
So many of family problems today have their root in dysfunctional fathers. Fatherhood is not just about producing a child, but being responsible physically, emotionally, and spiritually for the life of the child. However, many American men have abandoned their responsibility of fatherhood as designed by God. The Industrial Revolution moved the colonial man from his work close in the home, to work outside the home in the factory. Men who used to have an active roll in raising their children, transferred the responsibility to their wives and public school systems run by women. “Over the course of 150 years, from the mid-eighteenth century to the end of the nineteenth century, American men walked out on their God-given responsibility for moral and spiritual leadership in the homes, schools, and Sunday schools of the nation.” (Piper, Grudem 379)
There are several parenting styles which guide children throughout their life. These parenting styles can be either good or bad and this will have an effect on the child; either a positive or a negative one. This essay investigates the parenting styles from which emerge questions about the role of the mother and the father. It also focuses on the ways that either too much mothering or too much fathering might have an effect on the child’s identity later on in its life.
On the other hand, children also need both a mother and father. There are many reasons each parent should be involved in their child’s life. The first reason is that children raised without a dad are more prone to early sexual activity, and teenage pregnancy. Also, children raised without a mother are deprived of emotional security, and advice that only a mother can provide to
