Asia contribution, have change the way we live, without them our lives would be different. Silk, silk road, compass, paper, Chinese calligraphy, movable type, gunpowder, and printing. They have hugely impact the world as we known it. The contribution has spread worldwide and have been used by many and almost everyone, because of this contribution they have made life easier. However, the compass impacted how we navigate across the sea and a cross land as well. Compass is an instrument for determining directions, as by means of a freely rotating magnetized needle that indicates magnetic north. The compass become very important for navigation. Before compass navigation they navigated with the stars. However, this mean of navigate wouldn’t last long because the stars aren’t out during day and when there is storm the stars aren’t visible either. The weather is unpredictable and this could occur for many days and night. The compass help navigate through storm and when star wasn’t visible, making traveling across the sea easier. The compass was invented around the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC); it is unknown who invented the compass for sure. However, it was invented in china. The first person to use the compass was Zheng He, from the Yunnan province in China, he made seven voyages between the years 1405 and 1433.
The first compass was made with lodestone, it a naturally magnetized piece of the mineral magnetite. Chinese fortune teller used lodestone to build their fortune
7) The use of things such as the compass, larger ships, astrolabe, and new forms of credit.
Both Smith and Bradford showed respect to their respective Indians. However, Smith did not show to have a good relationship with his crew members. John gave the head chief his compass, “He gave a round ivory double compass dial” (19). During that time, a compass was an essential tool to every explorer since it guided them. By giving them his compass, Smith showed that he trusted the Indians and wanted to establish a good relationship with them.
Students or civilians take a Compass Test to see where they lie at. Basically the Compass test is used to
H. J. Gruy reports, methane hydrates released from the ocean floor creates a wide body of gas that dramatically reduces the density of water making it impossible to float on.
Magnetic Compass, one key fact about this invention is that this was used by traders so they wouldn’t get lost in places like the silk road.
The white lead of the needle faces the South part of the magnet in a perpendicular way. When the needle is facing the center of the magnet, the lead turns to a 90 degree angle, being parallel to the magnet. When the compass faces the North part of the magnet, the needle turns 90 degrees in the same direction until the red lead if facing towards the North of the magnet.
There were many tools that were created during the age of exploration such as a device used by sailors to help them find their way. This device was the magnetic compass which was the sailors first application of magnetism and one of the oldest scientific instruments. Lastly, a caravel which is a small, fast Spanish or Portuguese sailing ship of the 15th–17th centuries, was invented that has multiple masts that could take advantage of whatever wind was available.
Much of the new technology that they brought over, however, was borrowed from various people and cultures along their travels. Some of these new technologies include the compass, which they used to figure out which direction they were travelling, and the astrolabe, which aided the sailors in trying to find out how far north or south they were from the equator. Another borrowed technology that greatly benefitted the Europeans on their travels was cartography; this is the science of map making. This was probably one of the most beneficial discoveries to the Europeans because it allowed them to draw out where they had been and where they were
The three qualities of Buddhism; awareness, kindness, and wisdom made China a happier, more pleasant place to live as it quickly spread around Ancient China. The Persian invention of the Irrigation System allowed farmers to provide enough food and decreased the chances of famines gigantically. Not only did the Silk Road bring new goods to China but the Chinese inventions began appearing all over. During the Tang Dynasty (618 -907) printing techniques were introduced in Ancient China. In the thirteenth century many Europeans picked up those techniques, via the Silk Road, and those same printing techniques made a debut in Europe (travelchinaguide.com).
Nainoa Thompson created the star compass, as the basis for direction finding in non-instrument navigation. The horizon is divided into 32 sections called "houses." Nainoa has placed
These fortune tellers used load stone to control their fortune cards. When the fortune tellers realized that the load stone was always pointing to the North, the magnetic compass truly came about. During the 800's AD, the load stone was replaced with magnetic needles. The compass begun to be used on ships around 850 AD. This magnetic compass didn't make it to Europe until around 960 AD.
They brought wealth and access to foreign products to many places. All while also making the cost of long distance trade reduce. They also enabled people to concentrate and participate in economic activities. They facilitated the spread of religious traditions beyond their original homeland. While they created much good, they also made some bad things happen that changed history forever. They built economic systems, spread religions, reduced costs of trade, and did many other great things, but also generated some not so great events and troubles.
The original water-floating compass, sinan zhuo, evolved the compass floating in a needle-bowl, the floating fish-shaped compass, and various compasses during the Tang and Song Dynasties. The yingyuan zonglu (A General Record of Graves), attributed to Yang Weide of the North-Song Dynasty, is a forged old book. Its paragraph of the magnetic declination copied from Hu Shunshen’s (1091-?)dili xinfa (New Method of the Ways of the Earth) during the Yuan Dynasty. The guanshi dili zhimeng (Master Guan’s Geomantic Instructor), including texts of the Sui, Tang and Song Dynasties, dated from the Yuan Dynasty or later. On comparing the needle with the north-south direction measured with traditional methods, one discovered the magnetic declination. Wang
Asia invented 3 items which helped them thrive during the Silk road. The 3 inventions were gunpowder paper printing and the compass. Gunpowder helped weapons, paper and printing helped write history down draw and to manage things and the compass helped navigate through the silk road because it was dangerous. These inventions helped Asia because everyone was interested in them and they were willing to
