In the book fever when the fever outbreaks everyone thought this was the illness to wipe out mankind. After a wile Mattie and grandfather were kicked out of the coffee shop so Mattie would not catch the fever. And in the end they survived (except grandfather). Lisa starts to make progress with Solomon when he says that he wants to get an outdoor pool. His parents tell him that if he still wants it in one month they will get it for him because they don 't have the money right now. Solomons grandma comes to visit one day and she says that she will pay for the pool if he promises to use it. He says he will and then two weeks later they have a pool. It takes about another week for him to get the courage to go outside and use it but when he finally doesn 't nobody is around so he calls Clark and Lisa. Tim meets his cousins, the Platts, for the first time. Four girls sleep in a tiny clapboard house and the two boys sleep in the barn. Tim feels grateful to have grown up in the tavern, which always had plenty of room for himself and Sam to sleep comfortably. In a cozy scene, the Platt family, Tim, and Father sit around a fireplace. Giving up will not get anyone far in life. In the poem “See It Through,” Edgar Guest shows how to live a successful life, even when failure is upon a person. Through the use of personification and diction, Guest conveys that people should not give up when faced with a challenge. The Boys decide to break into Pearl Harbor and go fishing even though there is a sign saying Military people only. The boys all get in a rowboat to start there fun day. Then suddenly the boys spot an airplane flying overhead with a Japanese symbol located on it. The boys spot something flying out from under the plane then suddenly they notice that they are torpedo bombs. Then a bomb comes down and the boys get knocked out of their rowboat.
