Cause and Effect Clyde Shelton, from the movie Law Abiding Citizen, had a loving little girl along with his beautiful wife. Shelton’s wife and daughter were both murdered by a man with the name of Clarence Darby, (not only Darby but his partner was in the crime scene as well), who also brutally slaughtered his daughter and wife right in front of him. Clyde was trying to prove a point that the judicial system was corrupt. This act lead Shelton to kill, hack into the judicial system and go against the people over it. Clyde Shelton watched an assailant rape and kill his wife and daughter as he wept and bled on his living room floor. The two guys, one being Darby, jumped Clyde and beat him slightly unconscious while he was tied up and mouth duct taped shut. Shelton was so weak he couldn’t do anything even if he tried to save his wife and daughter. In the movie, Shelton wanted to get up and save his family, he wanted to stop all that monstrosity but being so vulnerable and tore down he just had to sit there and watch those disgusting men torture his wife and daughter and in the end one of the men stating and i quote, “kids like me better” after Darby just got done raping and killing Clyde’s wife he heads for his little girl next. Then to watch them slowly die.. Is honestly the worst thing anyone could possibly imagine. Of course Shelton was going to go to the police about this and try to put these men down but turns out things didn’t go the way Shelton wanted them to.

During the early 1990’s a murder case about the gruesome deaths of three eight year old boy shocked the nation, however most people speculated about who the real murderers were. The trial dealt with horrifying deaths, biased thinking towards the accused, unethical ways of finding evidence, circumstantial evidence, and cruel punishments. With that being said, the West Memphis Three of the 1990’s were actually the victims of prejudice police officers and bias beliefs of the townspeople.
Marshall’s troubles extended beyond simple land or fishing rights dispute. There are symptoms of serious disease in the justice system when it comes to the life and trials of Marshall. Using a troubled youth and racism, the court system put Marshall away for a murder he didn’t commit. This apparent “murder” occurred in May of 1971 when Marshall met an acquaintance by the name of Sandy Seale late at night. Later on, Roy Ebsary and Jimmy MacNeil joined their party and a confrontation ensued where Ebsary stabbed Seale and slashed Marshall. As any troubled youth would do, they fled the scene. Yet, despite the fact that Marshall was the one to return and phone an ambulance, he was the one eventually convicted of the

I searched mass murders, serial killers, and violent criminals who have been exposed to domestic violence in his or hers’ lifetime. However, I decided to choose a person who was simply a jealous ex boyfriend that decided to take the lives of eight innocent people. Many cases have made headlines within the year about mass shootings, but this particular case did not make headlines. It happened in Houston, Texas on August 8th, 2015. "Three Strikes and You're Out!” you think you would be hearing that phrase at a baseball game when a player has struck out but the phrase has been used as a metaphor for the three strikes law in California. It is a law that sentences repeated offenders, of serious or violent crimes, to twenty-five to life in prison. Although it seems desirable to put repeated offenders in prison, they are convicted even for petty crimes. It sentences an offender, whose first strike was a serious or violent crime, to serve a double sentence if the second crime is also serious or violent. The most controversial part of this law is that the third crime can be any crime, even misdemeanors, can “strike” out repeated offender because of their past felonies even

As Americans citizen we enjoy our rights and freedoms as a society. We enjoy our freedom of speech and our right to choose where to live. With all those freedoms also these rights comes with a legal obligation to uphold and to follow the law of our country. Also there are many American citizens moral obligated to exercise their rights but many times of the case Americans citizens are not forces to legally oblige to follow the law. A good example an American citizen has the right to bear arms but also an American citizen also has the right not to own a weapon. The idea of human dignity has been remarked and articulated in a number of the jurisprudence works of the mid-twentieth American legal philosopher, Lon L. Fuller. The Morality of Law, for instance, provides a valuable snapshot of Fuller’s preliminary sense of what his idea on human dignity might entail. In the core of his argument of legal morality, Fuller proposes that any neglect of eight principles of legality, which constitutes the internal morality of law, is not just only render the rational ground to obey the law and destroy the trusteeship between lawgiver and subject, but it further condemns and humiliates the dignity of person or human being as a free and responsible agent, self-determining center of action, and that they possess inherent dignity. In other important text, Fuller explicitly announces that the value of human dignity, over other extra-legal values, that must embodied within the structure of legal order. After he offers a long discussion of human capacity of action and communication under the forms of order, he writes: “ there is, therefore, in an ordered system of law, formulated and administered conscientiously, a certain built-in respect for human dignity, and I think it is reasonable to suppose that this respect will tend to carry over into the substantive ends of law.” Thirdly, in his draft essay Means and Ends, which can be considered both as an introductory of Fuller’s eunmoics theory of social order and Fuller’s reflection on the
The episode “Tango” in the television show “Law and Order” tells a story of an investigation regarding a murder of a teenage girl, including the arrest and prosecution of two different offenders within the criminal justice system. The story line and the characters embody different assumptions and values within their roles and the crime. There are many different restorative assumptions and values that are could have played a vital role in healing and resolution, but were unfortunately missing from the storyline. The portrayal of the criminal justice system that is represented in “Tango” does have an impact on viewer’s faith and perspective of the system and its effectiveness. These arguments are active in an analysis of the “Law and Order” episode “Tango” through a restorative justice lens.
