May 23, 2014, mass murderer, Elliot Rodger, killed six people and injured thirteen others. This mass murder occurred in Isla Vista, California near University of California, Santa Barbara, one of the ten general campuses of the University of California system.

Adam Lanza forced his way into Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown. Adam Lanza killed 20 first graders and six adults. The shooter aged 20, Adam Lanza, killed himself after committing his crime. All of the guns and ammunitions were bought by Lanza’s mother. Adam Lanza stole the firearms and committed his crime.

On the night of October 1st at 10:08PM during the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada, tragedy strikes. Country singer Jason Aldean was in the middle of a performance when the first shots were fired. The shooter was a 64 year old man named Stephen Paddock.

However before the mass shooting a hotel security guard named Jesus campos was sent to the 32nd floor to investigate an open-door alert, where he encounters a barricaded door the stopped him from immediately accessing the floor. When Jesus reached the room, he heard drilling from Stephen paddocks room and went to see what was happening, he then was shot in the right thigh by 1 of about 200 bullets that Stephen fired through his hotel door.

On October 23, 1976 there was another shooting, this time in Queens. Again, the victims were in a parked car. Carl Denaro (19) was shot in the head and survived, but his companion Rosemary Keenan died of her injuries.

On April 25th of 1980 Bobby James Moore who was 20 at the time, along with two other men (Willie Albert Koonce and Evertte Anthony Pradia) were in the process of robbing a convenient store located in Houston, Texas, when James McCarble (store clerk) was fatally shot. When Scott realized what was occurring she started to scream, this is when Bobby James Moore than shot 73-year old employee James McCarble in the head killing her. Moore fled the scene, and was found 10 days later, arrested and charged with capital murder- the jury sentenced him to death.

On December 20, 1968, David Authur Faraday and Betty Lou Jensen were shot to death. When the killer approached them, they thought he was a police officer because he had a flashlight aimed towards them.Mageau was reaching for his ID when the killer started shooting. The killer shot at Mageau first, hitting him in the face and body(Wark,1). Since the killer was close to them, the bullets went through his flesh and into Darlene. Michael moved himself to the back seat and got shot in the knee. The killer then shot Darlene in both of her arms and in her back as she tried to turn away(Wark,1). The worst gun massacre in modern American history happened on April 16, 2007 at Virginia Tech. It started off as an ordinary Monday morning. Twenty-three-year-old Seung Hui Cho moved methodically from classroom to classroom, shooting rapidly and randomly. When he was done, thirty- two students and faculty members were dead; twenty-five others were wounded. As the police closed in on him, he saved a final bullet for himself.

On August 1, 1966, The University of Texas at Austin was the target of a school shooting. This tragedy was known as the deadliest school shooting in America before the Virginia Tech Massacre in 2007 (Slotkin). School shootings are something that should not be taken lightly and the victims should be

An Austin police officer shot and killed Whitman before he could do anymore harm.

A school shooting occurred on February 14, 2018. The shooter is 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz. Cruz had planned this for a while. He slipped into the school carrying a rifle case, pulled a fire alarm, waited for students to leave there classrooms then shot up the school. After which, when the students were being evacuated, he proceed to leave behind other students to be unnoticed. Cruz killed 17 students and adults, and wounded 14 others.
