"Not that Emma had ever cared much about the approval of the Clave."

It's been five years since the Y were threatened to extinction by a man named Sebastian Morgenstern. Emma Carstairs's parents were killed during an attack. However, Emma strongly believes that her parents weren't killed by Sebastian and his cohorts. She knows it was not his doing. Emma and the Blackthorns, her 'adopted family', work together to discover who the true murderer is.

That is just the Sparknotes summary of the book. So much happens in this book, and I have not calmed down since finishing it.

I read The Mortal Instruments in the middle of seventh grade, and I absolutely adored this series. TMI was *one* of the series …show more content…

Sometimes the pacing is really slow and sometimes the pace is super fast. Lady Midnight was quite slow at some points because the book is 668 pages. At some points, I was getting discouraged by the length of the book. I am so glad I pushed through and finished because I loved the book so much.

The characters in this book were so good. The Blackthorn family were so tight and lovely. Honestly, *behind the Weasleys* the Blackthorns are one of my favorite book families. Also, I can't express how thorough the plot was. The entire book was planned very well, and I am EAGERLY waiting for the next book. It was just SO GOOD.

Note: You don't have to read The Mortal Instruments or The Infernal Devices in order to read Lady Midnight. However, it will help significantly if you have read them. They make character references to both TMI and TID.

I rated Lady Midnight a 5/5 stars on the Goodreads scale. Cassandra Clare is one of my favorite authors, and I can't wait for the next book.

What did you guys think of Lady Midnight? Let me know down in the comments. Can't wait to see what you guys think. Thanks for reading. See you soon!
