"Since the Industrial Revolution began in about 1750, carbon dioxide levels have increased nearly 38 percent as of 2009 and methane levels have increased 148 percent" (NASA). What NASA is describing in the above quote is how humans have impacted global temperatures. NASA estimates that in the last century, the global temperature has risen a little over 1 degree fahrenheit and they see no reason to doubt that this trend will continue as long as humans continue to carelessly produce these greenhouse gases. Companies that produce soda should be banned until they can be run off of solar power at least 60 percent of the time. Soda is a luxury item, as it is not necessary for survival. The companies that produce these products generate unnecessary pollution that contaminates the air and groundwater. The shortage of soda will make people who drink soda regularly think about what they put into their bodies as many of the ones who drink soda with caffeine go through withdrawals. Requiring companies to go solar would also help improve solar technology as the companies would be paying a lot of money on solar panels. First of all, soda companies produce unnecessary pollution as "[s]oda was ranked lowest among all beverage categories for health and nutritional value" (nutritionfacts.org). A drink that carries no nutritional value should not cause as much pollution as it does. Lorraine Chow of ecowatch.com states, "Americans went through about 50 billion plastic water bottles last
Captain John Smith and William Bradford were both american settlers that came from England. Both John Smith and William Bradford were looking for a better life in the New World yet with many different ideas and beliefs. For example Jamestown came for business and trade purposes and the Plymouth Colony came for religious reasons. Jamestown was founded in 1607 and was lead by captain John Smith.(Smith pg.73) The Plymouth Plantations were founded in 1620 and was lead by William Bradford.(Bradford pg. 5)
One of the biggest harms to the world is pollution caused by people. Most of the plastic materials used by people are left to pollute. Bottled water is one of the biggest plastic materials produced. Some people say that bottled water is safer, convenient, and provide jobs to workers in many ways. The reasons for buying bottled water differ. Some people buy bottled water because they don’t like the taste or smell of tap water, while others on the other hand buy it because of health concerns with water contamination. Pollution is one of the biggest problems hurting the environment today, and water bottles that are thrown out after each one-time use, contribute greatly to its increasing buildup. Bottled water is not only expensive to us, but also to the environment. Bottled water is hurting the economy, harming human lives, and damaging the environment.

Bottled water is probably the biggest scandal since Jordan Belfort was a penny stock broker. We pay extra for something that is convenientconvnant for us, but inturn is hurting ourare planet. We try to help by recycling, but still 38 billion plastic bottles made it to the landfills in 2010 and since then the numbers have just kept rising. In 2013, 10,130.3 million gallons of bottled water were produced in the United States, according to the Beverage Marketing Corp.(page #) Depending on who you ask, that’s either proof that more Americans are turning away from sugary soft drinks, or an environmental and ethical problem.
One of the forces that corrupts the revolution on the farm is tyranny destroying history, culture, and language. While the animals are singing their favorite song, Orwell writes, [Squealer] announced that, by a special decree of Comrade Napoleon, “Beasts of England” had been abolished... “Beasts of England” was the song of the Rebellion. But the Rebellion is now completed. The execution of the traitors this afternoon was the final act.
Plastic water bottles are considered one of the healthiest beverages you can find in any shop. But are they really all that healthy for the environment, or is there a fine line between a plastic bottled water drink and what’s best for everyone? Let’s take a look at bottled water from the very start to find out. To manufacture plastic bottles, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is used, and to produce PET, crude oil and natural gas is required. If one fills a plastic water bottle 1/4th full with oil, they will be looking at how much oil was used to make that one bottle, so how much oil does it take to make all of America’s water bottles? According to the Pacific Institute, in 2006, making plastic water bottles
Is Bottled Water also harming the environment? Yes, in many places such as California.“More than 1 billion plastic water bottles end up in California’s landfills each year, taking 1,000
That is a lot of water for one just one soda. But water is not the only way that soda is killing our environmental impact from the types of containers soda come in. Glass, Aluminum, and plastic all have negative impacts. Aluminum
One of the largest issues with bottled water is that, water bottles can help contribute to the cause of many problems in the environment. It can cause pollution because many don’t recycle their water bottles. In fact, according to Jennifer Gitlitz, the research director for the Container Recycling Institute (CRI), “86% of the water bottles sold are wasted: landfilled, incinerated, or littered.” Furthermore, the CRI keeps track of how many bottles and cans go into landfills around the year and in this year only 64 million bottles and cans have be thrown into landfills. When these recyclable items go through landfills it just creates more and more pollution. Yes, we can limit this but we can never completely eliminate it unless we get rid of the bottle that is causing it. Eliminating these bottles
The water bottle industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States. This being said, our landfills are filled with more than eighty five percent of plastic bottles. Their long lifetime and thoughtless consumers are not only filing our dumps with these plastic bottles, but hurting our oceans too. Since water bottles do not biodegrade, they can float aimlessly on the ocean surface for years. They also may cause a passing predator to be fooled into thinking it is a resting prey. Little did that predator know, they were going to have a serious stomach ache trying to digest a plastic bottle. It also pollutes the soil and waterways as well. Besides the space water bottles physically fill, their production waste is just as dire. In America alone, we use about seventeen
Thesis: Drinking coke and other sodas are harmful to the body. Drinking less soda (especially coke) and more water will help you to become an overall healthier person with less health problems in the long run.
In study by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) in 1999, it revealed that twenty-two percent of the one-thousand water bottles being tested contained an alarming amount of chemicals that surpassed the health limit in one or more states. In addition, out of one-hundred and three brands that were tested, at least eighteen of them were found to have had contained microbiological contaminants, once again exceeding the health limits (Hyder). Although the study is a bit older, the problem of finding chemicals in bottled water has continued. Since the year 2000, there have been nine outbreaks due to contamination in bottled water (Commercially Bottled Water). In 2004, Coca-Cola withdrew its own water bottle brand because of concerns about a possible carcinogen in the water (Ward, Owen, Ryan et al). Carcinogens are “substances and exposures that can lead to cancer”, and the fact that it was a concern in a popular water bottle brand could result in dangerous outcomes (Known and Probable…).
“Over 2.7 million tons of plastic are used in the manufacturing of bottled water each year, most of which is derived from crude oil” (Sexton and Morley). People waste so much money on making bottled water when they just throw them away when there finished. Most people would agree that bottled water is destroying the environment. Although some people think bottled water is useful and convenient; nevertheless, bottled water is bad and harmful for the earth, because the bottles are polluting oceans and causing people to become ill.
The soda industry today has more than twice of the amount of water advertisements people see on television or on the internet today. This for a matter of fact is not a healthy thing to do for children and young adults are taken accountable for seeing these advertisements on air. This is basically telling children it is okay to become a sugar addict. This is why society sees plenty of children under obesity, diabetes and heart diseases. Because we are telling the biggest lie to the people is that
According to Mental Floss in 2015 the National soft drink association reported to them that Americans spent sixty-five billon dollars on soft drinks a year. According to Harvard research each soda that is consumed can increase the risk for obesity 1.6 times.
