After summer vacation starts, Greg's mother Susan announces that the family is going on a road trip. At a cheap motel that night, Greg and Rodrick decide to go to the pool, but find that there is no water in it. There is a hot tub nearby, but it is occupied by a family and they cannot convince the family to let them use it. They return to their room to find that the rest of the family has fallen asleep, taking up the bed. Rodrick proceeds to make a bed for himself out of sofa cushions leaving Greg to sleep in the closet. He falls asleep for a few minutes before being woken up by kids who were playing with a cleaning cart. Greg yells at them for causing a commotion, making the smallest kid cry and call for his father, who nearly catches Greg. Greg nicknames the family the "Beardos". …show more content…
Rodrick submits one of his shoes to the "foulest shoe competition" in the fair and wins, but doesn't get the shoe back. Manny wins a competition for guessing a hog's weight, but the prize is a piglet, which the Heffleys are forced to take with them. The family plans to spend the night at a hotel suite, but it has a strict no pet policy so Mom smuggles the baby pig in a cooler until the Heffleys reach their room. The pig ends up raiding the minibar, forcing the family to pay not only for the food and drinks consumed by the pig, but also an extra $50 for violating the hotel's no animal
Billy Madison is the son of a famous hotel tycoon and spends his days being an idiot in the hotel pool. Billy then finds out that his father, Brian Madison, is having a meeting about retirement. Brian is trying to find a person to run Madison Hotels, and Brian says that he will give the ownership to Eric Gordon because Billy is not responsible enough. Brian tells Billy that he payed Billy's teachers to give him good grades so he could graduate which makes Billy mad and he says he will complete grades 1 through 12 again in 24 weeks, 2 weeks to finish each grade. Brian accepts Billy's offer, but Eric gets mad and becomes offended by this.
Lisa starts to make progress with Solomon when he says that he wants to get an outdoor pool. His parents tell him that if he still wants it in one month they will get it for him because they don 't have the money right now. Solomons grandma comes to visit one day and she says that she will pay for the pool if he promises to use it. He says he will and then two weeks later they have a pool. It takes about another week for him to get the courage to go outside and use it but when he finally doesn 't nobody is around so he calls Clark and Lisa. When they get to his house he is in his pool and they are really proud of him.
After a terrible Christmas and getting nothing he wanted Greg is back to the same old routine. One day Greg plays a game with Rowley where he must ride a bike while Greg tries to knock him off. On one of Greg's tries, the ball gets under the front wheel, which causes Rowley to fall off and break his arm. At school Rowley gets all the girls attention and this makes Greg wish he broke his arm. After Rowley’s arm heals he and Greg enroll in a Child Safety Program where they walk kids home from school.
When they are out being bad they like to drive to greasy lake were they can drink beer, smoke pot and howl at the stars. One night they go down to greasy lake and mistaken a car for there friend Tonys and they lay the horn and flash there high beams at it. Turns out not to be tonys car but some strangers. The stranger gets out not happy and begins to fight the gang of kids in the mist of it all the narraighter drops his keys to his car. The stranger seems to be winning the fight until the narratoir grabs a tire iron from under his seat and hits the stranger across the head with it knocking the stranger out. Then another car comes down to greasy lake unable to find the car keys the group of kids runs away into greasy lake. While the narrator is in the water he finds a dead body. The other car turns out to be the strangers friends and they wreck the group of kids car. The narratoir and his friends wait till morning for greasy lake to clear out. Once it does they head back to there car when two girls arrive asking if they seen there friend who we presume is the dead guy in the lake. They tell the two girls no, and they respond by saying how it looks like they had a rough night, and ask if they want to party with them. The narraitoir says no and they get in the car and head
In the cay Timothy is trying to get Phillip to make some blankets out of leaves, he says over then under, but Phillip yells at him saying "I tell you, I can't see!" Then Timothy slapped some sense into him and he helped. Timothy felt like he was doing all the work until Phillip started working,
The story unfolds with the clubhouse boys finding Alfalfa breaking his oath by being with Darla, and the beginning of the sabotage of their relationship. It does not take any time for things to begin to fall apart for both sides. The boys successfully ruin Alfalfa and Darla’s date, but at the expense of the fate of the clubhouse, which lights on fire due to the boys shenanigans. Having successfully destroyed Alfalfa’s chances with Darla, the boys are now working on making enough money to build a new clubhouse. The plans to sell tickets to the talent show work, but they are caught by their teacher right away.
In the folktale “The Blue Beard” written by Charles Perrault, conforms to both Dworkin’s and Lurie’s representations of fairy tale heroines. Perrault states, “The fatal effects of curiosity, particularly female curiosity, have of course long seen the subject of report” (133). Andrea Dworkin author of “Women Hating” and Alison Lurie author of “Don’t Tell the Grown-Ups” explain their different views regarding the heroines in fairy tales.
Maxwell Snyder Mazza P.7 11-21-14 The House of the Red Death Edgar Allan Poe was a very twisted man, his mind is represented vividly in all of the hundreds of stories he wrote. Naturally, people believe Poe would spill his mind out onto the paper in front of him causing people to believe the stories he wrote correlates to his own life. In two very famous Poe stories, “The Masque of the Red Death” and “The Fall of the House of Usher”, he really seemed to let his mind flow and his conscious leak onto the paper.
Greg Heffley has been accused of vandalizing the school, and he gets paranoid that the police are going to come into his house and arrest him. But when a blizzard hits he gets trapped inside his house with his family. When the power goes out they have to start rationing food because the blizzard hit the day before their mom was supposed to go and buy food. Then after the power goes out the house gets very cold because the furnace cannot be used without electricity. But then his friend Rowley Jefferson comes over with a plate of cookies and ask if Greg wants to come out and build a snowman. Her mother gave her a weak smile and walked off. Before she knows it she is dragging Raymond out of the house. “Ooh come on you stubborn mule, if we're late i’m going to destroy everything you have in that house”. “Early on the third morning of his family’s winter vacation, Josh was awaken by his older brother Aaron. ‘Yo, dude, come on we are going to be late for hockey!’ He shouted as he shook him awake. Josh woke up with a groan looking over at his clock which read 7:15 a.m. He sat up slowly rubbing his eyes. ‘Your clothes are at the end of your bed and your gear is downstairs. Hurry up’ his brother said before walking out giving him some privacy to change.
Rodger rushes up to an older woman named Ms. Jones and tries to take her purse. Ms. Jones stops him and grabs him by the shirt and does not take him to the police, but to her house. Which seems illogical, but she has experience with the matter. She lets him clean up, gives him some food to eat and trusts him to stay alone in a room for a couple minutes with no restriction, half expecting him to run away or steal from her, but is hopeful he will not. He is apologetic and tries to thank her, but she cuts him off. Ms. Jones was in a similar desperation once so she understands that Rodger is not a bad kid, he is just in a bad place. When she returns he is there and her things untouched.
