Why did he have to be so stubborn and leave when he got yelled at by his parents? They told him not to go alone on the boat so many times! Why didn't he listen? Now the baking sun began to penetrate his face and his face turned as red as a Crayola marker. No. He wasn't going to sit here and wait for his death. He was going to try and do as much to prevent it. But how? Joey had no help, nobody, and worst of all, no water. He knew his only chance of survival was to explore. Now that he thought about it he wished he hadn't explored too far. As Joey began to lurk farther in the dense, forest , he began to cool down his body due to the high branches and leaves that were acting as clouds. Every now and then he would get a flash of sunlight. …show more content…
He was petrified by fear. Then he understood. This was the bear's pond. He had come to his death, not seeing the bear. Joey had nothing to defend himself. He began wondering if he should run, but it was too late. The Grizzly began growling at him. Joey knew this was his last moments of life. He began thinking of all his good times like when he hunting with his dad or when he went fishing. Then he realized what his only weapon was. The flare gun. As he pulled it out of his ripped blue, jeans the bear came closer and closer, coming at him with full speed. He took it out and wondered if it was worth wasting a flare. After all, he only had two. Now seemed like the time. He put the flare in the gun and pulled the trigger right in front of the bear's path. He didn't want to hurt the animal. Clearly, all it was trying to do was defend itself. He decided just to scare it off. As the flare banged out the gun , it gave off magenta smoke and light in front of the bear. The bear immediately stopped such as when a bull stops when it sees the red cape. The bear stopped and it ran out of the woods on its four powerful legs. Joey was …show more content…
He was sure the bear might come back. As he traveled up the lush, green hills, he then saw a few homes with smoke coming out of them. He rushed towards there, thinking that there might be a civilization to help him go back to his home. Then, a war cry pierced the air like a Klaxon. A few Indians came rushing out with mohawks of feathers on their head and a good amount of flaming arrows and bows. They pounced on Joey but he had no weapon, so he didn't attempt to fight. They grabbed him by the arms and took him to a house. "NOOO", Joey screamed. "Help me!" he pleaded. But they were deaf to all of it. They left him in a room with many boar heads that seemed to scare him. The room was made out of wood and mud. He was left there and he was bored out of him mind. He fell asleep as he got a good amount of water and had a dreamless sleep. He was awake with a girl sitting next to
So he searched all through the day looking for the camp when he found it. It was a mess. There was a water can, with the bottom smashed out of it, the stove was all busted in with a rock, and there were nothing of any kind that could be used. But as he was about to leave, he saw a tin case above the entrance. It had a lock on it, so he got a rock and busted the lock. As he opened it, he saw a snake. He threw the tin case in a corner, and soon discovered that the thing in the case wasn?t a snake, it was a slingshot. He also noticed that the slingshot was a very nice slingshot with rubber tubes connecting to the frame, and the frame also had a slight different feature. It had an arm brace. So Ben decided that he would leave that in the camp for a while and look for some water. When he got outside, he looked around and saw some sort of a catch basin where there looked like dirty but drinkable water. So he started to go towards it. When he was about 100 yards from the catch basin, he heard some shots. He looked to his right and saw Madec with the jeep out in the desert. So, Ben started to run towards the catch basin, but ended up giving up when he was shot in the cheek and in the arm. He walked away thinking that he would come back there in the night when Madec couldn?t see him. So he fell asleep to get some rest and was awoken to see Madec shoveling out all the water into the sand and see it evaporate even before it hits the
Under the oak tree, Freddy sat playing in the mud. Rolling a piece of mud between his hands, he eyed the distance between him and Seymour. Taking a small hop closer to the pond, he checked the distance again. Drawing his arm back, he threw the mud ball at Seymour. Lucky for Seymour, Freddy’s aim was a little off. The mud ball hit the water next to Seymour’s head splashing him.
Bracing himself for trouble, Josh opened the door. The couple, a man and woman, inquired about the boys health, and whether they had eaten. The woman Josie, was very nice and seem genuinely concerned about the boys, Ben, however was the opposite. Josh told the couple they were heading to Montana where their grandfather lived. After feeding them, and listening to the boy’s music, they sent them on their way.
Embers flew from the campfire, and into the starry night sky; meanwhile, the campers, Jackie, Carl, and Jim, sat close to it for warmth. “Now who's ready for a campfire story?” said Jackie. “You can sometimes go a little overboard, so Carl is taking the wheel.” Carl continued, “Once upon a time” Jim screams, and Carl rolls his eyes at Jim, “May I proceed,” He responds rhetorically. By the time Carl finishes the scary story, Jim has already dashed into the tent, startling his dog, a basset hound named Roxy. Carl along with Jackie look at each other in regretful worry, as they walk towards Jim's tent.
Joey has left Josh, now Josh is alone in a very lucid mindset. He now sets out of the shed to try to find Joey in the cold walking around paniacing, and its only making things worse. “Panic finally hit me when neither the shed nor Joey could be found. There wasn’t a single lighted window in sight, not a doorway where I could find shelter. I coughed so hard that I finally lost my balance and fell.
Cole finds himself banished to a remote island in Alaska by himself for a year. Cole obviously does not understand the severity of the situation that he is placed under. He takes all the given tools and the given shed for granted and he burns the shelter that was there for him. He is later attacked by a bear. This bear does not directly attack Cole and it does not kill him. Cole aggravated the bear and threw a
self. Joey faces an internal conflict with himself. He calls himself a coward because he doesn’t stand up for himself when people like Erik and Authur make fun of his brother’s death. The conflict appears when the text says “”He stood up to people when he had to.” Joey’s voice dropped even lower.
On one nice evening roughly 2 years ago my mother was on the computer looking at things on kohls.com when she asked “Hey, want anything at Kohls?” I replied to this question saying “ Sure I will look around.” Then I started to look around on the site, and that’s when I found it. The most glorious hat I have ever seen in my whole existence. There is this pattern that is kind of zig zaggy yet doesn’t distract you from the greatness of the team logo, the Wisconsin Badgers. Ever since I have received this sublime Wisconsin Badgers hat in the mail 3-5 buisness days later, I have worn it. Whether the badgers are playing, I go outside, or I just don’t feel like fixing my hair, I have it with me and it is a part of me.
All my life I have been goal driven, ever since I was a young boy I had the goal to shoot my first bear. I was an avid hunter and I loved to be in the wilderness and hunt what I could. Then finally one year when I back of age, I had my shot. I was hunting up in Swatara, MN and I was in the stand with my father. Directly below me was a 300lb black bear and it did not know we were there. All of a sudden I pulled up to shoot and I ended up missing... I was completely devastated since that was my chance to claim a black bear for myself. After that happened I started to doubt myself at first. I thought less of myself because I missed one shot. I then realized that the only way to get better is to practice. Indeed I did... The next year came by and I was by myself in my stand.
After the Civil War, the American Southerners had a strong trauma that could not be forgotten. Considering that William Faulkner was also one of these Southerners, approaching to his texts through a psychoanalytic lens would be a meaningful work. In fact, Faulkner is one of the rare writers who faced Southern racial ‘taboo’: the miscegenation. In addition, a Southern Renaissance that what Faulkner does with the South through his novels are very similar with what Freud did with the European civilization after the World War I in his work about ‘psychoanalytic mourning’ (Lee 229). Actually, Faulkner went through the World War I just like Freud did and he is one of the “Lost Generations”: a group of writers who were strongly affected by the inhumanity of war. Thus, this essay will focus on analyzing Faulkner’s “The Bear” in psychoanalytical view.
William Faulkner’s novella “The Bear” from his collection of works, Go Down Moses, is a symbolic exploration of the relationship between man and nature in the eyes of a young boy. The heart of the issue, the warped idea of the ownership of land, is revealed thought the clash of man and nature in a wild chase that ends only in blood and death. The prey is nature itself, represented by a bear, while the hunters are men, full of greed and destructive possessiveness, pursuing that which they do not understand. Ike’s idea of the bear, presented in section 1 of the novella, expresses the idea of symbolism in relation to the bear and to the hunters and what the battle between the two represents.

“The Bear,” by Tom Lombardi, is about of a husband and wife. While reading the story you start to understand that Gary, the husband, doesn’t seem to care to much about his wife, Lois. Gary doesn’t seem to even care about Lois. Gary was very unsensitive when it comes to things. In the story, while they are in the woods, Gary tells Lois to pay attention to bears, if she sees a bear, she should not be scared, but don’t be stupid. While Lois went to use the restroom one time, she encountered a bear. However, during this time, she felt that the bear was communicating with her. In the story, Lois talked about the bears puppy-like eyes and that the bear rolled over and showed his belly. In a way, this made Lois trust the bear and not to fear the bear. The bear tells Lois that he has seen Lois and Gary together making love and he
